Got defected last night coming home from a party at 2am after being followed and "Random Breath Tested".

- Pod Filter (I had it boxed off, so no they don't make it legal)

- Exhaust over 98db

- Non-engineer Intercooler (Hybrid)

- Defective Rear tyres (Just warning because they're getting there)

Got no complaints, what can ya do. I will be returning to stock and probably selling up, tired of driving scared all the time.

Asked about power to weight, he said January next year Red P Platers will be monitored with what they drive.

/end rant.

Absolute bullshit! I got a warning about having a pod fitted (no box, that was laying in the boot haha). I took the 'notice' to the local blue slip mechanic dude and he just laughed at me because he said their is nothing in his 'check book' that says an air filter needs to be covered. By then I had already replaced my hks pod with a stock airbox (prefer that anyhow) and got my noticed ticked off. Basically the cops have absolutely no idea, they are just looking for aftermarket parts. They spent about 5mins (3 cops) looking under my bonnet for a blowoff valve (which I don't have) meanwhile i'm there standing over my fmic :)

Edit. Last night I was on the GWH on the way home from Parramatta (heading west) when I seen a suspiscious grey stock commodore behind me with chase rims and 2 older guys in it. They followed me (closely) for about 5km whilst having plenty of opportunities to overtake or merge into other lanes. Then an orange XR6T pulled up next to me at a set of lights and wanted to race. I let him go but about 3 sets of lights later the grey commodore decided to egg him on abit. They both took off and after about 100m the commodore threw his lights on and booked the orange XR6T.

lol... :)

It really is bullcrap how they are allowed to defect cars.

I had a friend tell me a cop on a motor bike pulled up next to him at a set of traffic lights, flipped up his visor and said.

"If it wasn't for working a 13.5hr shift I'd pull you over and defect you for your blow off valve"

Funny thing is its a friggin stock blow off valve.

DezertEagle, you've had the car about 6 months, modded the hell out of it, blown an engine and now got defected, right?

And now you want to sell it?

Haev you considered driving a stock skyline? I had mine 4 years, never defected, broke down one (radiator exploded). Put a diff and new engine in it at the end but that was it. After 4 years of hard driving including plenty of track days on cheater tyres. I put 60000klm on it as well.

That sucks dude.

How were you driving at the time?

That pod in a box defect is a piece of crap. A friend of mine who has an s14 got defected for his exhaust and for "not having an H pattern on or near the shifter"!!!!

wil..

Exhaust... well some are a bit loud or hang down or whatever but this H pattern bullsh1t is just a complete "We will get you for something" load of donkey w@nk.

I have a small label made on a P-touch "near" my gear lever just to foil that one.

BUT I am the only one who drives my car and I know where the fusking gears are and I don't look at the gear lever like a 2 month learner.

what a crock

12 months now. I reckon it's still more a mild modded one. The engine would ping stock, me not knowing about engines too well back then didn't pay attention and so - pop. Yes I got defected.

I want to sell, in place an E36 M3.

I will consider a stock GTR, but a stock GTSt probably not.

From what I know DezertEagle's car is no BLING BLING car though. 200rwkw on the UAS dyno with a stock computer ain't no rice mobile....

(stock bov too yeah Dezert?)

It has a GTR Fibreglass front bar and fibreglass Trial Rear bar.

Focused most attention to engine bay, running best fluids in gearbox, diff and engine etc with 'Smart' mods.

S-ITC and S-AFC were all there and were just about to be tuned :)

Stock BOV :)

I hate to break it to you guys, but ANYTHING that is not stock can technically be defected unless you have a full engineers approval. This can include pods, zorst, intercoolers or any a/m ECU's. The cops can make life difficult or easy, it depends on the cops and the attitude of the person being pulled over.

My brand new XR6Turbo could be defected because I have a sports airfilter & Unichip installed as its not stock.

I would think that at least 30% of cars on the road could be defected, its just that imports have a bad name and imports driven by P platers have DEFECT ME written all over them.

It is not always fair, but its life.:flamed:

The bloody laws are ambiguous as buggery.

Techncially, if Mal is right - and I'm sure he is - You can get done for a Midas Exhaust when your stock one rusts away to nothing - Just cause it is not stock.

WTF !

The manufacturers should be having a field day with this one.....

"Don't go to Midas, Pedders, Kings, Lovells, Monroe, Konio, Bilstien, K-Mac, Whiteline, etc etc etc Cause they don't supply a fit stock parts."

What a crock of absolute SHIT !

Absolutely B-man it has to be exactly as the manufacturer had approved originally

DezertEagle I didn't mean any sort of attack, its just that skylines are a great car, and perfectly legal if you don't mod em.

You *will* be disappointed with the performance of a bmw.....so return it to stock and enjoy it :P

dezerteagle mate I have the solution to your problem - buy yourself a R31 Series III GXE. Either enjoy the beefy 3litre or whack an engine into it.

1 - it's a sleeper

2 - if you're into girls, it's a good thing cause they'll be throwing themselves at you when they find out that you drive a R31!!

(isn't that right pete!!)

    • Each to their own I guess  Me, I put just as much time into cleaning inside of the cars as I do on the outside As for getting wet, it is really no different than steam cleaning the carpets at home, apart from the cars carpet dries alot faster than the house, again, I only do it in the hotter months and leave the car opened up for a few hours As I only do it yearly, it is just before I do the diff and gearbox service, so I clean the carpets, then it's up on stands, wheels off, service, clean the undercarriage,  grease the bushings and do a nut and bolt check on everything  Disclaimer: I typically had all the time in the world to kill when I was working 🤣, so spending a full day or 2 cleaning, serving and "looking at stuff" was,  easily achievable, and a fun mental therapy day As for time to kill, I retired last Wednesday, so apart from my physical training, my days are filled with lots of random jobs around the house and garden...."Idle hands are the Devils something something" I am also buying a new house sooner rather than later, I'm actually looking at a potential property tomorrow, I'm looking forward to getting a car hoist as I'm starting to get to old to crawl around under a car, I can only imagine all the undercarriage cleaning and looking at stuff when that gets set up
    • Yeah, I'm not interested in wetting the carpets, and I don't care about brown dirt/dust that lives deep in the pile or underneath. It's not like I crawl around on them in my birthday suit or eat dropped food off them (because there is never any open food in my car). The seats are alcantara (cheap Chinese imitation alcantara, to be sure!) with barely 1" of foam pad behind the surface. That's not getting wet either. Any car that I would be happy to get the interior wet, I would not care to put the effort into.
    • We have one that holds 2.8L of water. On floor carpet that hasn't been touched in 2 or 3 years, will take a minimum of 2 fills of the tank to do a bedroom, and that's going AROUND the bed.   In the cruiser, I used an ENTIRE 2.8L tank, just on the front passenger footwell. But it had some fungus growing, and had been full of mud from being used as a 4WD for many years. I can do that floor again, and it will still pull mud out. However, the water now only looks dirty, not pitch black and leaving full sludge in the bottom of the tank it sucks back into. Oh, and, this is about a $1500 unit.
