Hey Guys,

I'm in Japan at the moment and have found a second hand parts store that has a Power FC for my car (BNR32) for around 600 dollars with controller.

I have a few questions -

1. the serial number is PFC RB26 9605-0387. Is there any way of telling how old it is? it looks to be in very good condition...

2. in my very poor japanese / english translations, the guy said that there was no maps on it... my question is- do all PFCs have a 'base map' that cannot be erased? I don't want to buy it and find that it has to be programmed from scratch.

Thanks for your help in advance!

BTW - i was like a kid in a candy store!! If anyone ever visits Japan, make sure you find an 'Up Garage'!!

Hi Marcus,

I always thought that the FC came with base maps. - Inless its you'r translation

If the maps were deleted using the PFC laptop software this wouldn't save on to the FC it self could it ? Maby thats whats been done :uhh: Ask the bloke if you can install it into another car their and try it, or is that not possible ?

:D

And grab me a cheap hand controller for the R33 GTSt mate

I understood the base maps were always there, but be cautious of the PFC being password locked. Good idea to get them to demonstrate if possible.

Cameron / Geoff: they can't demonstrate as there are no 32GTRs there... the rough translation of the characters on the box is 'signal / data check before use'!!!

don't think it is password locked...

might just hedge my bets and get it and see...

my advice would be to just but a brand new one. it's not worth as much if it's not the latest revision. The early ones can't be used with FC logit and the later ones apparently have some firmware upgrades too. unfortunately the only way to check is to plug it into to a 32 or 33 GTR and see what version it is. I say just buy a new one, unless you're confident of what it is.

Marcus, cheers mate. Anywhere up to $150 or so will be fine....and maybe a long cable, and don't forget to add some extra for your trouble, like a carton of cold ones :D

It should be OK if it isn't password locked, so then you can still tune it at least. Highly recommend driving as little as possible/very gently if using the base map.

Geoff: went to the Up Garage again today, seems as though all the hand controllers are sold with the respective PFCs... sorry about that.

B1: the Up Garage I went to is... either the Kawasaki or Hiratsuka Tokkaido store... not sure which one but know how to get there. It isn't very big, but main reason I went there because it is on my g/f's house train line. There isn't a heap of stuff there.

Suspension isn't a heap cheaper than second hand stuff you can get from people off the forums, plus it is damn heavy to ship over.

I decided that the plastic has taken enough of a beating (bought a EVC-R today), so will get a new Power FC from Nengun when I get back and have some $$

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
