Rezz's Japan Forum Q + A Thread

Recommended Posts

Since it's a QandA thread, I'll drag it kicking and screaming down into the gutter. :)

Dear unky Rezz,

Do japanese women really act like they do in the pornos when they have sex? Or is it one of those things, "Only in porn"? I'm referring to the "little girl whine" they do... I find it rather freaky.

On a different note: does Japanese Coke taste different to Australian Coke? (Yes, I'm drinking a coke now).

Oooooh... the whiny voice? Uuuummm, well in my experience it's real. Some girls act like they're getting their pubes pulled out one-by-one (getting close to cencorship now!) and others act like stunned mullets. But the whine is usual I think... so says a 'foreigner' (me)... I think they also act differently with foreigners too, with eeerm... larger... aaaah... y'know... 'thingy'... :) :)

Coke is the same taste.

The whine is usual? Gawd... will have to interview potential gf's when I move over (finally)... "Do you whine during sex like you're having your pubes pulled out one by one, or do you make other noises? Whine? Oh, I'm sorry, you're just not what we're looking for in a sexual partner..."

I can't stand that whine... sounds like they're in physical pain rather than enjoying themselves. *ahem*

Rezz, not really a Q and A, and to be honest, I've been away from the jap forum for a while (yay for life and studying and moving house and so on getting in the road), so I don't know if you've done this, but I have a photo log challenge for you. :)

I dunno if you eat much junkfood, but I'd be really interested to see photos of junk/fast food resturant menus... I'm guessing a lot would be fairly pictorial. Really curious to see how Japanese mangle intl fastfoods. :)

Sciby,

Have a look at Yongfook. He does nothing but review Japanese snacks, and is a pretty funny writer.

Well worth a look.

Thanks IG... but alas, I've already read Yongfook's page... often had me crying at my desk, trying not to choke laughing... your'e dead right - very funny writer... and he's a skyline owner!

That might be pretty close to the truth due to the... aah... larger *cough* dimensions they aaaah... have to *cough*... 'accomodate'...

lol... best description ever. :)

The whole japanese wang thing is rather weird. It's terrifying how small they are, even on the so-called porn stars... makes me feel like a Super Power son of rajab of Sexz0r Lurve!

Or just like a western porn star.

Re, photos, you're a legend. It's bizarre... I've been so busy with studying and new changes in life (I'm now a network admin for a university res college, living on campus, etc), that I really haven't looked at anything japanese lately... I feel the urges for engrish, weird food and small asian women growing back. :)

re: coke - I guarantee if you did a taste test you would definitely realise the difference.

coke, as per nearly all japanese soft drinks, is far less carbonated than the western equivalent. That, I know for a fact, but I also believe (opinion) the sugar content is lower.

it was one of the very first 'cultural differences' I noticed upon arrival - and I always notice it upon return. The same thing with chocolate - though I must say, and this goes for coke too, I now much prefer the japanese version.

Hmm... personally I prefer fizzy drinks... get that whole "Ow, it hurts, but I like it!" thing happening. :)

Hmm... questions, questions... can you get good mexican food over there? Is it jap-mexican hybrid food (ala, corn and mayo pizza), or is it decent food? How good is the vendor machine food? As you can tell, I haven't had lunch yet.

Speaking of lunch, is it difficult to date japanese females when you're gaijin? I'm guessing there'd be a lot of 'coolness' in it for her, dating gaijin, etc...

I'd believe that. The Japanese palette is a lot more sensitive to sugar that what we are used to. I discovered this when I brought back some normal dark chocolate with me as omiage. My colleagues loved it . . . . . why? . . . . dark chocolate isn't as sweet as the usual foreign chocolate that they're used to getting when people go to places like Hawaii (eg Macadamia Nut Chocolate)

IG

I prefer the word TODGER

I actually get what I think are 'sugar cravings' - and I think this is because my body has been so used to the sugar content in my western diet, that it can't handle the level in japanese foods. This started almost immediately after arriving in japan - and nearly three years later, I still get 'attacks' probably every week (easily solved by a choc or soft drink hit). I even went as far as getting a diabetes check - but that wasn't it (so I assume it's a dietry thing).

anyone else get that?

shan: pocari is an 'ammino drink' that is a variant on the typical 'sports drink' formula. I think they made it the consistency of sweat so the body absorbs it better (just guessing).

There was a bizarre version released recently that had an even stranger name, it was 'pocari steve' or something like that - didn't try it though

I've never acquired a taste for it - but I drink aquarius (the version made by coke) every single day - love the stuff (will miss it like crazy when I leave)

Pocari Steve eh? Mental image of some poor gaijin on a treadmill, being forced to sweat profusely.

I do get sugar cravings... but I also get hypoglycaemia - get the shakes, dizziness, nausea if I don't have enough sugar in me... apparently I'm right down the other end of the scale of diabetes, producing too much insulin... weird, but there it is. Consequently, I don't have huge sugar highs when I hit the lollies/coke. I just... wake up. :P

here we go:

???

BTW, if you're in japan and you've been on a bender, this is my recommendation for a hangover cure:

1. one bottle of aquarius: 500ml - 1L depending on the amount of damage you've done

2. one bottle of this:

photo_01.jpg

3. one bottle of a similar product - it comes in a similar size bottle (small - about 125ml or something), but has a big 'D' on it (white label)

My friends laughed at me when I made them try this combo - but they were converted

How Pokari Sweat got it's name is here:

The vitamin drink with a 'D' on the bottle is Ripobitan D. Incidentally, those vitamin drinks are absolutely LOADED with Caffine. Likewise with the O.T.C cold and flu medicine that you buy at the drugstores.

Occasionally I get sugar cravings here, but usually I just fix that with a sweet canned coffee. ZIIIIIING! Steer clear of that bloody Georgia Max stuff in the yellow can though. Urgh!

IG

^^^ Haha IG I haven't come across a canned coffee I like... Coffee Boss (silver can) is drinkable... just.

It's not canned coffee... but who likes 'Mt Rainier'? That stuff is the best!!!

    • Order for the 2025 model R35 GT-R were accepted from 3rd March and 26th August the last order rolled off the production line at the Tochigi plant. Concerning the R35 GT-R replacement, current Nissan CEO Ivan Espinosa said "Nothing has been decided about the GT-R at this time, but we are well aware that everyone is waiting. The GT-R will evolve and reappear in the future. Please be patient until that day comes." Nissan has a lot of issues with management and finances so take Espinosa's words with a big grain of salt. From what discussions I've had and read about here in Japan, not a lot of people are confident about Nissan's future, let alone the next GT-R.
    • Thanks. We getting some parts along too so he will be solving the speed issue like next week so i will let you know what he came up with.
    • 21 is explicitly the coils detected as the issue. Is it guaranteed the actual issue? No. Just the ECU thinks it is. When you say rattling, describe it better, get an audio clip as best you can if possible.
    • Yea got me coppers. Bad news is I just put them in and the car still has the light and shakes. I also noticed I hear like rattling coming from the exhaust piping right under me. Does 21 also have a possibility of being O2 sensors?   So, coil packs are good, the harness is good, the MAF is working, and obviously the spark plugs just replaced and working.
    • Make sure you drop the GTT base tune back in, and set your injectors again, this will remove anything playing up with it you may have removed. Possibly lean there as it's normally a fast transient going THROUGH atmospheric pressure, and a turbo motor would then quickly go richer as boost builds. The only worry you MIGHT have is ignition timing, as the DE is higher compression than the DET from memory. But again, you're not in boost, so the DE motor will be a lot more forgiving at atmospheric.   Get Murray, Kinkstahs, and Johnny's input on tuning haltechs, those guys have played with tuning enough in the past to be able to help now you're past the trouble shooting stage of the MAP issue
