Rezz's Japan Forum Q + A Thread

^^^ Haha IG I haven't come across a canned coffee I like... Coffee Boss (silver can) is drinkable... just.

It's not canned coffee... but who likes 'Mt Rainier'? That stuff is the best!!!

I'd have to agree with you on the Mt Ranier (especially the caramel one). Any of those ones that have an actual expiry date on them taste better than the weapons grade coffee out of the jihanki's. Unfortunately, I don't own a car here, and there is no conbini in walking distance, so I don't have a choice.

I can't wait to get my car in May.

sugar absolutely has an influence on taste, as does carbonation - as anyone who has taken a swig of flat coke would know :)

Tanks for pointing that out buddy, I would've just dumped a whole 2 teaspoons of salt in my coffee otherwise. Cheers bigears! :D

Q. What do English teaching gaijin do in their spare time in japan?

Q. What are the nightspots around where you live, and what fun activities can be had in these places?

Cheers bigears!

all the best, small breasts!

err...

Q. What do English teaching gaijin do in their spare time in japan?

well, for the boys - chasin' snatch (at least that's the impression I get)

or whining like petty bitches on the internet

A quick loook at this thread will give you some indication:

1) Buy used schoolgirl underwear fron vending machines

2) Get pissed from beer vending machines

3) Fall asleep in train stations and listen to doorbell noises.

4) Get a lot of strange stares from the locals

5) Pay stupid amounts of money to the government to keep our vehicles on the road.

6) Have girlfriends/partners/wives who scream during sex and carry around 'brand name' paper bags.

7) Laugh at the Rockabilly/Lolita styles.

8) Hatch secret plans to deal with the Bosozoku once and for all

9) Marvel at the range of junk food available and the unusual flavours.

10) Debate the merits of Japanese vs Foreign Coke

11) Drink Pocari Sweat and Lipobitan D to recover from #2

Personally, I have no car, and it takes me an 90 minutes by train to get anywhere reasonably interesting (like my local watering hole). I live in in a really inaka village in the middle of nowhere.

All you can drink (nomihodai) deals with friends and kareoke are the usual things that I get up to.

:rofl::) Lmao!

Rezz, Is there english translations everywhere like in train station etc for engrish people who dont have a clue how to speak/read japanese?

lol

Better ask a question & not post whore with just 'lol'.

Q: So with the huge amount of cartoon porn in Japan does that mean like men prefer to jack over cartoons than real porn? Is there much real porn compared to the cartoon sh#t in Japan. Some of that cartoon sh#t is whak too... Chicks getting done by weird alien type things & snakes & stuff. A m8 went to japan & brought back a few YELLOW PAGES BIG type books of them cartoons. He also got knuckle dusters

Nah, it's real with penetration, etc... but you're not allowed to show female geitalia...

http://www.tubgirl.com - Excellent example. DO NOT OPEN IF YOU'RE EASILY OFFENDED. Not in the slightest way work safe... but it seems to be the archtype of japanese thinking, imho.

"A girl being rather gross is fine, but we can't show her pink bits!"

I've got a question ......pureley out of curiosity.

I realise that stuff that comes into australia is gonna have a huge mark up from cost in japan due to import tarrifs, taxes, shipping, retail mark up etc etc..... but i was wondering exactly how much that difference amounts to ....eg a set of 17" Volk TE37 , advertised in a mag (usually i find advertised prices to be more than what you actually get priced), sans rubber were something like $3200 AUD, i was just wondering what kind of off the shelf price they are in japan, at a place like autobacs etc....

ps. i really shouldn't be asking this question, cos i know the answer is gonna make me cry

Hahaha me review porn? I'd just be like "she's a stunned mullet... crap... NEXT!" x 568.

sock: Actually, theres English translations on alot of things... I wouldn't say they're everywhere, but someone who has absolutely no knowledge of Japanese could easily get around Japan... you just need to be on the ball... some of the translations require a pretty open mind as to the meaning.

geno8r: the cartoon porn actually is a cultural thing. An old Japanese artist (can't remember his name, maybe IG can research ) used to paint these images with octopusses getting it on with a lady. Very famous stuff, everybody knows about it, the girls even kinda fake roll they're eyes when you mention it (yeah, like they wouldn't wanna be raped by and octopus... yeah right ) but the cartoon porn is just an extention of that. I think what Sciby said is right too, the censorship laws here are very outdated, eg: other forms of sex goes uncencored, but the MOMENT PUBIC HAIR IS SHOWN... damn get that video editing going to blur out the muff... or doodle whichever is in shot.

Two words: Tentacle Porn. Google away.

    • I saw you mention this earlier and it raised a red flag, but I couldn't believe it was real. Yes, the vacuum signal should vary. It is the one and only load signal from the engine to the ECU, and it MUST vary. It is either not connected or is badly f**ked up in some way.
    • @Haggerty you still haven't answered my question.  Many things you are saying do not make sense for someone who can tune, yet I would not expect someone who cannot tune to be playing with the things in the ECU that you are.  This process would be a lot quicker to figure out if we can remove user error from the equation.
    • If as it's stalling, the fuel pressure rises, it's saying there's less vacuum in the intake manifold. This is pretty typical of an engine that is slowing down.   While typically is agree it sounds fuel related, it really sounds fuel/air mixture related. Since the whole system has been refurbished, including injectors, pump, etc, it's likely we've altered how well the system is delivering fuel. If someone before you has messed with the IACV because it needed fiddling with as the fuel system was dieing out, we need to readjust it back. Getting things back to factory spec everywhere, is what's going to help the entire system. So if it idles at 400rpm with no IACV, that needs raising. Getting factory air flow back to normal will help us get everything back in spec, and likely help chase down any other issues. Back on IACV, if the base idle (no IACV plugged in) is too far out, it's a lot harder for the ECU to control idle. The IACV duty cycle causes non linear variations in reality. When I've tuned the idle valves in the past, you need to keep it in a relatively narrow window on aftermarket ecus to stop them doing wild dances. It also means if your base idle is too low, the valve needs to open too much, and then the smallest % change ends up being a huge variation.
    • I guess one thing that might be wrong is the manifold pressure.  It is a constant -5.9 and never moves even under 100% throttle and load.  I would expect it to atleast go to 0 correct?  It's doing this with the OEM MAP as well as the ECU vacuum sensor. When trying to tune the base map under load the crosshairs only climb vertically with RPM, but always in the -5.9 column.
    • AHHHH gotchaa, I'll do that once I am home again. I tried doing the harness with the multimeter but it seems the car needed a jump, there was no power when it was in the "ON" position. Not sure if I should use car battery jump starter or if its because the stuff that has been disconnect the car just does send power.
