Hey guys,

I would just like some opinions on what i am planning to do to my R33 as the next stage and what other may recommend to do.

The goal is around 250 - 260rwkw's at around 1.2 bar (i understand some lag is expected).

I have already

FMIC, Power FC, AVCR, 3" exhaust with dump pipe, Bosch fuel pump, fuel reg, BOV, heavy duty single plate clutch. I am currently running standard turbo, injectors and air flow meter.

I have decided to upgrade my turbo, injectors and AFM in one hit and have the cash ready to go but the 2 options i can think of are

1) HKS GT-RS (brand new $2800 from Nengun performance), 555cc injectors (jap brand $650) and a Z32 AFM $300

2) High fow standard turbo ($1500 if i had to guess), 555cc injectors (jap $650) & AFM $300

I really wanna buy a new turbo as i don't like buying second hand stuff but i will save alot on getting my standard turbo high flow'd (even though i am not a fan of rebuilding the standard and using existing gate, actuator, oil & water lines)

If i was to get the HKS kit it come with new lines, heavy duty actuator and wastegate.

Opinions on high flows? Any advice?

Cheers guys

I just got mine highflowed. With this highflow set up i got it'll be very hard to reach 250 mark at 1.2 bar. With those types of figures you'll probably wanna get the RS.

However with my case being EPA'd played a big part in my decision to get it highflowed over a newer, bigger turbo.

I got a GTRS installed couple of weeks ago and got 255rwkw at 1.2 bar still have standard air flow meter so have to get Z32 so maybe a bit more in it and some better resolution in the tune. My mods are very similar to yours full 3 inch exshaust, FMIC, PFC, nismo 555cc injector, exhaust cam, lightened flywheel and ceramic clutch, spitfire coils and bosch 044 fuel pump. I couldn' t be happier great balance of response and power. I my main problem now is keeping traction in first gear. Also got $300 back for old turbo and i does come with new lines, heavy duty actuator and wastegate.

You can get a GT30 with a nissan exhaust housing.

I dunno how much power you'll get out of that though.

i have seen a r33 that got about 250rwkw from it , but it was running std injectors with a fuel reg to boost the pressure so that might have limited it

i dont know what kind of response it would have compared to the gtrs

Interesting thread. Seems some people only make 240ish with the GCG Hiflow and others make up around 260ish.

I guess it depends on how much power you are making before you go the P/FC + Turbo.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
