Andrew the problem is that you probably got crap advice that there was a way of getting around the los of points. Gee, wouldn't that be novel from a Govt agency!

Seems like they are saying that once you lost the points there should have been a suspension there and then and you probably shouldn't have been able to do the P off course.

But something doesn't quite make sense. Why would they take so long to suspend you licence??????

I'd encourage you to pursue this and get all of the facts. Sometimes they screw up - might not have a record of your P off course etc.

Best of luck

yep no joke, i got a letter yesterday saying my license is being supended from the 3rd of March due to a fine i got nearly 2 years ago!!!!! i lost 4 points for speeding in my lancer then did the "P Off" course and gained an extra 4 points so i wouldnt lose it, i actually called the dickson office to find out if there was anything i could do at the time and they told me to do this course!!! they have now said that the loophole has closed and are issuing me with the suspension due to the fine incured in May 2003, i am so calm at the moment because i simply cant beleive that this is happening, but i also simply cant beleive the government thinks they can do this to me and get away with it! esp when im starting a career launching job in a month!!!! the girl i talked to from dickson just a few minutes ago basically said theres nothing i can do and tough sh*t, so i told her i'll be taking it to court and theres no way they'll be getting away with this!!!!

IM SO FU**ING ANGRY!!! AAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!!

ouch bro so sorry to hear it. i feel ya pain though i have lost it twice both 6 months. wasnt good but i still drove. i had to or else i would have lost my job. ask them to give u an option of driving for 1 year with 1 point they might accept it

fu** that!!! fact is i did the course i had to do at the time, got my points back and paid the fine and was allowed to keep my lisence, and they are now saying they are taking off me because they have decided to change a law? good luck! i'm 19, been driving a modded turbo skyline for a year now and hav'nt gotten 1 fine, i should be getting a f**ing medal for fu**s sake~!

One worth fighting Andrew. There appears no justice for the injustice they're attempting. You did the right thing at the right time and NOW they wish to penalise further. That's Bullsh!t.

Stick to your Guns and you will be victorious. Any chance you know a Lawyer or freind of one?

Deffo fight for this one.

You took their option in good faith, you got your points back, you paid the fine, and THEY changed their minds *after the fact*

The fact that they took the points off, to me says that they accepted that you did the course, which worked, as you have not received any further points/fines......

How can they do it rectroactivley?

yeah i know this one lawyer richard i guess you might call him my......... brother lol, so legal fees wont be an issure for me! i know the gov has done some nasty sh*t lately but this has just gone way to far!!! funny coincidence though that i get my full license just days before the suspension ends huh?

Damn.... tahts no good Andy.

I get my licence back tomorrow... YAY!!!! sorry to rub it in.. :)

Fight it, they cant do that to you 2 yrs later..

If this is all true, then heaps of people are gonna loose there licence now.... Sounds STUPID to me....

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT

Yeah I don't think they can do that. Your case would have been closed almost two years ago. They cannot just reopen it and expect you to comply. There will be some sort of tribunal you should be able to go to and get this removed.

absolute bull. You did the right thing at the time, they shouldn't punish you for it now. And if you did exploit a loop-hole, it should be their fault for not controlling it in the first place. Good luck mate, i hope it works out.

You should loose your licence, should have lost it a long time ago, should be locked up....................for wearing muscle shirts and dressing in the colour pink...................... :jk: :kick:

But I reckon they are totally f@#*ed up trying to invoke something that happened before Saddam was in gaol. Fight 'em mate, go to it. I reckon a judge would laugh at 'em, you'd win easy.

yeah the p off course cost me $66 and took the better part of one of my sundays, thing is pretty much everyone in the room (about 20 of us) was doing the course for the same reason i was to gain points after a loss, im still just in disbeleif over the whole thing!

Hey bro, I got stung with a neg driving charge for failing to signal a couple of years back. Fought it and fought it and called all there blufs and got it downgraded to a fail to signal fine!

Truth is they dont know what they are doing 99% of the time! You will win if you fight!

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
