hmm this is interesting as i am looking to go down the GT30 route later this year, and was told by alot of ppl to get the 0.63 ex housing, but by the sound of things this is NOT what i want for a street driven car!

INASNT what power are you making with the .86 rear and .70 front combo?

Internally stock motor so far

Adam - try and get an HKS 2835 Pro S low mount - I reckon they are the best performance / response. Yes you might pay a bit extra for HKS - But they are the Shit and resale is better than hi flow.

wow! my mate seems only able to push ~250rwkw with this turbo on an RB30

what size injectors are you running?

im punching out 270rwkw on 16psi, 16psi @ 4000rpm or there abouts depending on gear etc.

denham, isnt your a .82 rear? i cant remember what mine is.

I thought it was .82. And mine is no different to yours

a .63 would be snappy, mine is so progressive it wont break traction in the dry (except in 1st if your rough)

but still man ..pushing that much on a standard 25 even on a dyno day....how much will it take b4 she splits like a hoe

Denham, what sort of duty cycle does your injectors run at when it makes that much mumbo on the dyno?

As a daily driver it runs 1 bar boost and makes around 255rwkw and even with that power driving to work etc I dont drive like a jackass 90% of the time

As a daily driver driving around at 1.4bar boost is a waste of time, and remember the engine wont be making that much power all the time even if i was running 1.4 bar coz thats just a peak power figure and i aint changing gears at 7500rpm all the time, where that peak power is made.

With the 550cc injectors and 044 pump with stock fuel reg the injectors are at around 80% duty cycle

he dont drive it around like that everyday. His Dyno figures are with octance booster etc in the tanks.

Daily its not making that

U still on about that octane booster thing? I just put in a bottle i bough at the local servo before MAS dyno comp because the fuel i had in my tank was over 1 week old

besides.. i really dont think octane will give u that much more .....specially when ur over 300 .....its still over 300 with or without booster. 300 is ****en massive in anyones language for a car thats regularly driven.

and 80% duty is pretty comfortable levels..... good going .. kudos to the tuner thats for sure.

GT30 with 0.63 a/r exhaust housing come on like a light switch??? YES very much so. You will find it very hard to get off the line in the first few gears with that small housing and you will be in wheel spin city, and then have no power high up in the rev range. And if it raining forget about driving your car.

My GT30 with 0.86 rear and 0.70 front housing (RB25 internally stock) comes on around 1 bar at 4000rpm and makes power all the way to 7500rpm, and bounces off the rev limiter in every gear quite easily, and is easy to drive around normally and come on power nicely without to much wheel spin.

Totally agree with all of the above!

Sacrifice low 4 top end any day..all about power 2 the ground, no use having too much power off the line..ur right, just wheelspin all day long!

Once the GT30 hits full boost around 4500rpm ur already movin' along..so have maximum grip = more power.

INASNT, sounds like u have a very similar set up 2 myself

I have a GT30--high-mounted, external gate, 550cc injectors, 044 pump, GReddy e-manage etc. I am making 256kw (340.5hp) @ wheels (auto) on 16psi.

what rated GT30?

you should be up around 270-280rwkw... if using the 600hp

Yep i know..u mighta missed the bit about it being auto..if it was a manual would more that likely be @ that mark.

Also that 256kw is tuned @ only 16psi.

U still on about that octane booster thing? I just put in a bottle i bough at the local servo before MAS dyno comp because the fuel i had in my tank was over 1 week old

he enjoys having a cry.

im considering gt30 on a rb20 with no cams or anything, .63, be interesting to see how light switchy its going to be

    • GCG is a good company, they're a major distributor for Garrett in Japan as well.
    • Nah, OEM washer bottle and brake fluid reservoirs are fine I don't know what it is with the plastic that Mazda used, some plastics, like the washer bottle and brake fluid res are fine, and still look new after 20 years use, where as the coolant expansion tank, and PS reservoir, that I replaced with new OEM items when I first got the car, turned yellow and started getting brittle a few years later If the dirty yellow stained plastics didn't trigger me there wouldn't be an issue, but they did, much like the battery bracket....... Meh As for going back to work full time to support car stuff, nope, why, because I own a Mazda NC MX5, not a Nissan R series Skyline 🤣
    • I've never heard of CJ-motor, so can't advise you on them. I'd just go straight to GCG for a GCG highflow though. Seems no point to use a middleman. I'm somewhat surprised that the price on the CJ site is lower than the GCG retail price. Even though CJ would get a discount of some sort, you would hardly expect them to give up so much margin. Maybe the price is out of date? Having said that "I'd go to GCG"...when I did my highflow, I went to Hypergear. I did this https://hypergearturbos.com/product/rb25dethighflow/#tab-dyno-results with the R34 OP6 450HP profile. With the BB centre (extra $400) and intially with the standard boost actuator, but I eventually got him to send me the high pressure one when I got to the point of being able to actually use it. Ends up costing the same sort of money as the GCG highflow, but this is, of course, the turbo that I KNOW has a shorter length core and so moves the comp cover rearwards. The GCG apparently doesn't do that. My mechanic also swears by the GCG highflow, given that we have another turbo rebuilder who does something essentialy the same as theirs, using Garrett wheels. He says it stands up at really low revs and makes good power. I haven't pushed my HG highflow past ~240-250rwkW yet (should have a little more in it, but unclear how much) and it does have a fairly gentle boost ramp. OK, it's much better now that I have gotten my boost controller tuned up on it.  A lot of my earlier unhappiness was because I couldn't keep the wastegate flap as closed as it needed to be (including some mechanical issues). I'd still prefer it to boost up nearly as quickly as the stocker, and it certainly a bit slower than that. So maybe the GCG one is worth the first look (for you).
    • Ok thanks 🙂 I will higly consider this. Any "known" company for a good reviews and experience to send that off? Is that CJ-motor good one? Or go straight to GCG site? I need to use VPN to even find some of those "shops" let alone access them 🙂
    • You can literally put in as much WMI as it takes to quench the combustion totally (and then back it off a little, obviously), and it will keep making more and more power. The power comes from the cooling effect of the water (and the meth) and the extra fuel (the meth, which also has massive octane). It is effectively exactly like running E85. One might be slightly better than the other, but they are damn close. But with either you can lean on the boost or the timing (or both) waaaay more than with just petrol and the results are similar. Here's the first thing I googled for an anecdotal bit of evidence. Can't access the attachment without being a gold member, but it is there for the getting if able to, or searched up elsewise perhaps. https://www.hpacademy.com/forum/general-tuning-discussion/show/wmi-vs-e85/
