Hello,

As i have stated befor i have rb20det with a ecr33 gtr power fc d-jetro

Now i just ordered a boost control kit for the fc. As far as i can understand from reading the boost control solenoid has a plug on it, which a cable plugs in and that cable must goto a standard boost control solenoid. Well the rb20det does not have one?? What can i do. Where should i plug this in or splice it in. I have checked most plugs in engine bay and none suit this plug. Pic is attatched.

PS. the extra map sensor they gave me aswell as the extra cable.... should i just keep as spares.. cause im assuming you dont run 3 map sensors on a single turbo engine!

hi leon,

the ECR33 and BCNR33 powerfc have a 3 pin boost control kit port on the side of the PFC

this is for the map sensor for the boost control kit (do NOT mix this up with the djetro map sensors).

the boost solenoid gets power from the existing wastegate solenoid wiring which is used with the stock ecu.

from memory the ECR33 and BCNR33 had this on the wiring loom as "wastegate solenoid" but the RB20 loom i don't think has this wiring.

If it does then you connect the solenoid to this "wastegate solenoid" wire and the ground to chassis ground.

If your RB20 loom doesn't have this wire then you will need to run it yourself. The power wire nees to run the ECR33/BCNR33 PFC wiring socket on the actual PFC - check out the wiring diagrams to find out what PIN # it is on the PFC and then get ground from chassis ground.

The boost solenoid uses a 12v power and switched ground to turn it on and off - so you can't get it wrong, if you do it just won't work

thanks alot... i half get that, i think ill wait for the_mafia aka pacey to help me out this wkend, but this should certainly be of help.

Just one thing though... were does the map sensors goto now? Do they have to be spliced in with the boost controller map sensor?

i dont know - ive never setup a djetro PFC but i think it should come from the plenum

and i think the boost signal should come from as close to the turbo outlet as possible

Is there somewhere that tells us the "normal" range for sensors? I have been looking through the FAQ and cant find anything.

My car just started hunting badly all of a sudden and idles at 2000rpm when cold, 1500rpm when warm

A/C on or thermo fans on seems to stabilise hunting a bit.

I cleaned AFM, cleaned AAC valve out and then I checked sensors in the PFC hand controller

AFM sensor goes from about 1.3V (idle) to 2.4V at about 3000rpm (stationary)

Air Flow is about 1400mV if I turn that on with the monitor function.

O2 sensor is at around the 1.0V mark too and when hunting ranges from 2.72V to 4V

I replaced the fuel filter a few days before the problem started and it was really dirty would this be a possible problem?

I also went through a big puddle of water and the car stuttered...

Thanks

the nissan ECR33 service manual should tell you the voltage range of the sensor - check out the sections covering consult diag - it shows you how to do each diag and what the ranges should be - of course you can't do consult diag but it will give you an idea of what acceptable levels are.

the 02-1 sensor shouldnt go past 1.0v its a slow and narrow sensor, it should only go between 0.0v and 1.0v

any sensor that is out of range will be highlighted with a black background in the ETC, SENSOR SW/CHECK screen and the engine check light will also be on (orange engine icon) on the cluster

hey mate,

Me and pace got my car (rb20det djetro) up and running on satrurday arvo. Just one problem. Sensor check is coming up error with TPS sensor, We tested the tps with multimeter and it works fine. Do i need an rb26 one?? or whats the go there... the check engine light is on 24/7

Paul,

My mechanic says there's a difference between PFC's made for the R333 GTST S1 and the S2! One designed for internal ignitors, the other for external (can't remember which he said is which). He's going to find out for me today. The PFC I have came off a S1 and mine is an S2....

hi,

this has been done to death and covered a dozen times

there is no difference between S1 and S2 - the ignitor differences are on the engine side, not ECU side

so S1 ECU can be used on S2 and vice versa

There is no PFC for S1 and a seperate PFC for S2

Whats the difference between R33 RB25DET and RB25DET NEO R34 PFC?

Whats the difference between R33 RB25DET and RB25DET NEO R34 PFC?

quiet a lot

there NEO has some extra sensors, controls and features

things like traction control etc make it in-compatible to a std RB25

i suspect you could piggyback / hack out those items

Thanks Paul - I was just curious

Another question - whats the easiest way to knock some timing off with Power FC?

I found 2 options but both are as confusing as each other

:)

Hey, sorry to be a pain in the ass but... ^^

:P

SETTING -> INJ/IGN Adjust

Press DOWN 3 times and you will see -3 for IGN ADJUST.

This drops the IGN map 3 degrees timing temporary (will reset when car is powered off).

HI.

Great FAQ!

But is it possible to get some more info on all the different settings? Not maps, revs etc... But the stuff in "settings 2 and 4" in the FC edit program...

what effect they have and more on what they do. Right now im still a little afraid to begin playing with these settings.

update today

updated some text on the other versions and version matrix

removed some of the junk in the menu roadmap

removed some of the rare crap in menu tree

fixed up the formatting so its paginated now (easier to read)

    • I had 3 counts over the last couple of weeks once where i got stranded at a jdm paint yard booking in some work. 2nd time was moving the car into the drive way for the inspection and the 3rd was during the inspection for the co2 leak test. Fix: 1st, car off for a hour and half disconnected battery 10mins 4th try car started 2nd, 5th try started 3rd, countless time starting disconnected battery dude was under the hood listening to the starting sequence fuel pump ect.
    • This. As for your options - I suggest remote mounting the Nissan sensor further away on a length of steel tube. That tube to have a loop in it to handle vibration, etc etc. You will need to either put a tee and a bleed fitting near the sensor, or crack the fitting at the sensor to bleed it full of oil when you first set it up, otherwise you won't get the line filled. But this is a small problem. Just needs enough access to get it done.
    • The time is always correct. Only the date is wrong. It currently thinks it is January 19. Tomorrow it will say it is January 20. The date and time are ( should be ! ) retrieved from the GPS navigation system.
    • Buy yourself a set of easy outs. See if they will get a good bite in and unthread it.   Very very lucky the whole sender didn't let go while on the track and cost you a motor!
    • Well GTSBoy, prepare yourself further. I did a track day with 1/2 a day prep on Friday, inpromptu. The good news is that I got home, and didn't drive the car into a wall. Everything seemed mostly okay. The car was even a little faster than it was last time. I also got to get some good datalog data too. I also noticed a tiny bit of knock which was (luckily?) recorded. All I know is the knock sensors got recalibrated.... and are notorious for false knock. So I don't know if they are too sensitive, not sensitive enough... or some other third option. But I reduced timing anyway. It wasn't every pull through the session either. Think along the lines of -1 degree of timing for say, three instances while at the top of 4th in a 20 minute all-hot-lap session. Unfortunately at the end of session 2... I noticed a little oil. I borrowed some jack stands and a jack and took a look under there, but as is often the case, messing around with it kinda half cleaned it up, it was not conclusive where it was coming from. I decided to give it another go and see how it was. The amount of oil was maybe one/two small drops. I did another 20 minute session and car went well, and I was just starting to get into it and not be terrified of driving on track. I pulled over and checked in the pits and saw this: This is where I called it, packed up and went home as I live ~20 min from the track with a VERY VERY CLOSE EYE on Oil Pressure on the way home. The volume wasn't much but you never know. I checked it today when I had my own space/tools/time to find out what was going on, wanted to clean it up, run the car and see if any of the fittings from around the oil filter were causing it. I have like.. 5 fittings there, so I suspected one was (hopefully?) the culprit. It became immediately apparent as soon as I looked around more closely. 795d266d-a034-4b8c-89c9-d83860f5d00a.mp4       This is the R34 GTT oil sender connected via an adapter to an oil cooler block I have installed which runs AN lines to my cooler (and back). There's also an oil temp sensor on top.  Just after that video, I attempted to unthread the sensor to see if it's loose/worn and it disintegrated in my hand. So yes. I am glad I noticed that oil because it would appear that complete and utter catastrophic engine failure was about 1 second of engine runtime away. I did try to drill the fitting out, and only succeeded in drilling the middle hole much larger and now there's a... smooth hole in there with what looks like a damn sleeve still incredibly tight in there. Not really sure how to proceed from here. My options: 1) Find someone who can remove the stuck fitting, and use a steel adapter so it won't fatigue? (Female BSPT for the R34 sender to 1/8NPT male - HARD to find). IF it isn't possible to remove - Buy a new block ($320) and have someone tap a new 1/8NPT in the top of it ($????) and hope the steel adapter works better. 2) Buy a new block and give up on the OEM pressure sender for the dash entirely, and use the supplied 1/8 NPT for the oil temp sender. Having the oil pressure read 0 in the dash with the warning lamp will give me a lot of anxiety driving around. I do have the actual GM sensor/sender working, but it needs OBD2 as a gauge. If I'm datalogging I don't actually have a readout of what the gauge is currently displaying. 3) Other? Find a new location for the OEM sender? Though I don't know of anywhere that will work. I also don't know if a steel adapter is actually functionally smart here. It's clearly leveraged itself through vibration of the motor and snapped in half. This doesn't seem like a setup a smart person would replicate given the weight of the OEM sender. Still pretty happy being lucky for once and seeing this at the absolute last moment before bye bye motor in a big way, even if an adapter is apparently 6 weeks+ delivery and I have no way to free the current stuck/potentially destroyed threads in the current oil block.
