Hi all.

Was cruzin in the city on friday night to pickup a mate and i got pulled over by some D's , they said " we have pulled you over as the legality of the modifictaion done to your car" then i have to got to the rocks where they were all waiting.

This is the 1st time ive been pulled over in this car.

And 4 those of you that have seen my car you wioll fiund it funny that this is all they got me 4.

1. 19" wheels when tyre placard says 16" - Fine $120

2, Chasis has been modified for the intercooler piping - Fine $60

then the minors

1. Tints to dark

2. boost guage in a pillar above steering wheel

3. www.skylinesaustralia.com sticker on wind sheild (yes thats right a sticker can not block the wipers)

thats it.

Lucky i know a few people in the buisness ( if you know what i mean)

Cant they just leave us alone?

i doubt the p-plates would have much to do with it, i would have thought the imported skyline models would be enough for the police to pull over and check when defect stations are around

but considering all the recent events involving p-platers and all related stories i suppose you could be right

hey dude, yeah i got done in the same area - down at the docks in the rocks (had my whinge sesh in the general forum :) )

luckily mines only fairly stock and they got me for pod filter (frantically trying to find an airbox to fit the r33)

some of the cops were real pricks acting talking like i'd killed someone, but luckily the chick that was looking after me wasn't too bad.

Anyway bad luck man, hope u get it all done in time,

Catch ya

I drive around in a '97 series II with a standard Type-M kit, 18's with a GTR wing on the ass, I have not been picked up in it once yet, Its the huge GReddy stickers, 20 inch 'Bling bling stand-out-like-dogs-balls' chromes and ya 6inch exhaust tips that gets you pulled up. Cops are pricks, we all know that, why make yourself stand out to them, you dont need their attention cause it's bad news when you get it.

Getting defected is no big deal, it's not even about the fines, it's just the hassles of having to go back to get them cleared and shit.

Wheel Track

As a general rule, it is recommended you only fit wheels and tyres that are listed on the tyre placard or in the

owner’s handbook. These have been tested and proved for your car.

Sometimes the range of wheels listed by the manufacturer may appear to be limited. While it is recommended

that you only fit these wheels, the RTA does not oppose the fitting of wheels outside the range providing they are

safe for the vehicle.

An important requirement for all replacement wheels is that the wheel track must not be increased by more than

25mm beyond the maximum specified by the vehicle manufacturer for that vehicle.

Wheel Width

Wheels up to 26mm wider than the largest optional wheel recommended by the vehicle manufacturer for the

vehicle can be fitted without the need to notify the RTA.

Wheel Diameter

The outside diameter of the wheel and tyre combination must be no more than 15mm over the largest diameter

wheel and tyre combination specified for the vehicle and not more than 15mm below the smallest diameter wheel

and tyre combination specified for the vehicle.

i was wrong in my previous post its 15mm not 10mm :P

Heres boys

had this discussion before

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...ead.php?t=55039

by the way if you have any questions regarding Whats legal or illegal

ring the RTA Technical enquiries on 1300 137 302

FYI

I rang them yesterday and to my surprise i found out turbo timers are not illegal.

    • For once a good news  It needed to be adjusted by that one nut and it is ok  At least something was easy But thank you very much for help. But a small issue is now(gearbox) that when the car is stationary you can hear "clinking" from gearbox so some of the bearing is 100% not that happy... It goes away once you push clutch so it is 100% gearbox. Just if you know...what that bearing could be? It sounding like "spun bearing" but it is louder.
    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
