With the RENEW track day coming up I thought I might get a little bit of practise in @ Wakefield if anyone is interested in taking there Skyline out. Pete from SAU (fatz) will be bringing his RB26 R31 out (I think there will be some other R31s as well).

The only problem is that its a weekday (Wednesday). Im heading off to Phillip Island the next day so better not break anything!

Oh and I dont have to talk to the Government over this one... :werd:

how much,

$80 for the day on the track, $30 for a wakefield license, $20 for a stack hat ($50 deposit sometimes required, ive never paid it)

and what time

Starts at 8 am, but you can show up when you want

and what do we need.

full length clothes, closed shoes, helmet if you got one, all loose items removed from the car

Thanks SupaFly.

Spectators dont have to pay a cent unless they want to go for a ride themselves in which case they pay the full amount (I think... cant really remember).

Stevie - would be great if your mates Stato can make it out there. My mate with the green ute loves his statos (owned a couple) but wont be able to make it out, he is racing at Phillip Island that weekend, we leave on the Thursday.

Here is some advice that I found very useful by the NSCC guys...

Mechanical:

Check all fluid levels ( Oil, Coolant, Brake Fluid )

Double Check that all caps are on and secure

Check front and rear brake pads

Check all tyres and ensure that they are in good condition

Check that all hoses ( including Intercooler pipes ) are firm and not worn

Check that your seatbelts are in good condition and not worn

Personal:

Long sleeve cotton-type shirt

Closed shoes

Short sleeved shirt (its either really hot, or really cold, at Wakefield)

Helmet (if you're not renting)

Empty anything you don't need out of the car. It'll give you a good excuse to clean out the interior.

What I will be bringing is:

Spare tyre and tyre changing equipment

Locking nut

Service booklet

All the other miscellaneous stuff gets left at home. If you have a big stereo that you can remove, take it out. You won't need a street directory, so leave it at home.

While you can empty your car there, its an open-aired shed and so there's little security. Don't leave anything lying around that you can't afford to lose. I might bring a little esky with some drinks, but there is a canteen facility on-site (and if you have to refuel at lunch, you'll be heading into town anyway).

Just as importantly, make sure that you get a good night's sleep and ensure that your attitude is right when you arrive. Driving like a hoon will get you off the track, either by the marshals or by the laws of physics. While Wakefield is forgiving on people who come off the track, you still run the risk of ripping a tyre open or crunching your lower bodywork on the loose stones if you hit it at speed. And the last thing you need is to be remembered as that guy risking everyone else's rides, that eventually got told by the marshals to never come back.

WET WEATHER: The track is open rain or shine, and I'll leave it up to you whether you want to come out.

Many thanks to Brenton and Alan at the NSCC, from whom I've borrowed a lot of this content.

If it wasn't during the week I'd be there for sure.

Anyone comming to Oran Park for Fatz Track and Drift day??? 27th February (Sunday). Same deal, 8 am start. $140 for SAU members, passengers are $30, and spectators are asked for a gold coin I think...

I'm out, dammit! I wont have (a) the suspension back from the shock tuner or (B) my oil cooler and sump baffle fitted... Better believe I'm keen once things are done, though! Getting ANY time off when you work in retail is a bitch, however. : (

Yeah, mine is in the shop for a week now, radiator and oil cooler, oh and the manifold issue :)

So I even miss the fatz day

Let me know the next date though :)

    • Yeah I also looked at Plazmaman, but, it ended up alot  cheaper getting black ones through EFI when you also added in the delivery cost
    • Nice shot! They look super clean. The roof rack delete on the black one is interesting. Would like to see more pictures from different angles. It's subtle but could make quite a difference to how the car looks in profile.
