I'm goin to keep mine as stock lookin as possible also :( I've been researchin the manual conversion, and it's looking pretty pricey at the moment, especially for the interior bits, I've seen them on slidewise but they seem to be very rare.

Well, yes, i will be just dealing with a choppy interior for a while. Ill cut the auto parts to suit as best i can, but id rather a manual then a complete interior :(

Dont plan to sell the car any time soon either, so i wont be in any rush to make it all pretty

I wonder if it's possible to get parts direct from nissan in japan, cos i've read that the prices are half of what they are here, there must be a huge markup on parts, or maybe if we could get a few people together that want the parts, we might be able to get better pricing through nissan australia.

I have been comparing a Stagea manual console with a R34 manual console

They look very similar

The rear half upto the back of the gear stick surround looks almost the same

Drink holder and handbrake looks the same. Without measuring the two, the R34 looks a bit shorter under the gearstick surround where the console meets the dash

May need to cut and join a bit in here, maybe by using the Stagea auto console

May need to also cut across the gear stick surround just under the ash tray and lighter and join the Stagea front and r34 rear together.

I am going to have a look at a Stagea and a R34 this afternoon to get some measurements. It might just work

Ok

I measured up a Stagea and a R34 2 door centre console

You would need to cut the R34 console at the back of the gear stick surround and the same to the Stagea. Before cutting the Stagea one, you would need to check the mounting location of the R34 to suit the gear stick. Then trim the front half the Stagea console to fit.

The R34 console is about 10mm less in width from the gearstick back. it is about 5-10 mm wider at the front where it meets the dash.

Then you would need to do the same to the gear stick surround. A manual R34 gear stick surround and Stagea front. I would cut it across directly where the surround curves up under the ash tray.

So I think with a bit of playing around it could work

Once you are happy with it, then get it plastic welded.

I used a guy in Brisbane once, that once he had welded up the cut in the dash, he then used this white plaste over the repaired cut, and then heated it and pressed a rubber pad that has the same texture as your dash. The finish result was great. He then colour matched the dash, painted the area where he repaired it and it was nearly impossible to tell

It would alot of mucking around, but it would be better then spending over $2000 for the genuine item.

I presume they are all the same, but that still doesnt make them any easier to find.

Ive been looking on yahoo jp for the past 4 months every single week and as of yet to see one come up. Prank snapped one up about 6 months ago

I've been lookin for a while too, saw one bout a month ago, but it dissapeared really quick.

I'm researchin all the parts at the moment, and am gonna get some prices soon, the prices in the earlier thread were for 260RS parts, i'm gonna price the RSFS series 2 parts an see if theres any difference.

Maybe if we buy multiple parts we might get a discount, will ask and see what they say, I've bought a few parts off nissan already and the guy i deal with seems pretty good, so i'll try an squeeze him a little :)

Don't forget that if you're a member of the SAU club, you may be entitled to discounts when you purchase directly off Nissan if you go to or deal with the right dealership. In Sydney, you can deal with either Hornsby Nissan or North Shore Nissan.

Ok, I've got a price back from japanparts.com, for a brand new complete series 2 manual console, which includes all bits needed will cost about $990 air freighted to australia.

I havent priced the parts through Nissan australia, but i'm bettin it would be nearly double that.

Can you post the part numbers for future reference of all the console bits

Sounds fairly well priced

I have been trying to bid on some gear stick surrounds on Yahoo, but they have been selling for $250-350 for second hand ones

You then still need to buy the actually console!

Thanks

It includes,

Console Body

Console Boot (gear stick surround and boot)

Rear Cup Holder

Cup Holder (sits behind gear stick)

Tray assy (including bumpers for lid)

Console Lid

Thats all the parts required to make a complete manual console, besides the ashtrays, a front one might be required.

I havent included the rear ashtray because they are the same throughout the models and i'm just going to use my old one,

Terminal is going to see if the front ashtray fits a series 2 as the part numbers are different, so it might be a little extra if i need to get that aswell, but i'm quite surprised at how cheap the parts are.

For example the console body is only about $175 aussie, sounds too cheap but thats whats on the quote i received.

Beastien.

    • I ordered a GSP Front R/H Axle from here - https://justjap.com/products/gsp-premium-front-driveshaft-r-h-nissan-r32-r33-r34-skyline-gtr-stagea-4wd#description It lasted around a year before one of the boots blew out. I'm lowered, but I have GKTech roll center adjusters. One year seems a little premature. I think I'm going to spend the extra money on an OEM cv axle this time. This website - https://tfaspeed.com/collections/nissan-stagea-wgnc34-x-four-parts/products/nissan-stagea-awc34-260rs-rb26-right-front-axle-drive-assembly Makes it sound like the readily available OEM CV axle will only fit 11.1999 Stagea and up (mine is a 2.1997 S1). The JustJap listing didn't mention any years or anything for the GSP axle. Amayama shows '11.1999' and up as well for that part number. As well as 'plastic boot type'. See attached picture. So I guess my question is, does that axle (39100-23U60) really only fit S2 Stagea? It's the front driver side. If it does, I'd love to buy that instead of rolling the dice on another GSP. I've found that OEM one cheaper here: https://www.partsfornissans.com/oem-parts/nismo-jdm-r32-r33-r34-skyline-gtr-r32-gts4-right-front-axle-3910023u60 and here https://www.nissanparts.cc/oem-parts/nismo-shaft-ft-drive-3910023u60 Just a little confused because the JapSpeed listing for the GSP front driver axle doesn't mention any specific years or anything and it fit my S1 Stagea fine. So will 39100-23U60 fit my S1 Stagea even though technically it says '11.1999' and up? What would have changed? Thanks.
    • Thanks for the info. The only "Issue" I've had with the shifter is I always found the throw between 4th and 6th gear too close. I'm always worried to shift into 4th accidently and sending my motor to the moon. Adam LZ recently came out with a video and stated Serialnine revised their shifters to correct this and will change all the revised parts for 150$. Strangely enough, I contacted Serialnine right after and they denied it and said it's bullshit. I found that strange as he's a distributer. I'll keep this forum post updated on that saga.
    • Yep that is correct. It allows you to adjust the short throw range from what I can tell
    • Car has been running great, I've put about 300km's of break in time on it. First thing that stands out with properly sealing rings is no more noticeable crankcase smell coming out of my catch can. This may seem insignificant, but the constant smell while driving around was infuriating. It's also nice to see my oil level remain stable. Two new issues have developed that I only noticed this weekend though. There's a very noticeable driveline vibration past 100kmh. I only noticed it now as I've been babying it under 100kmh in the backroads. This comes as no surprise as I'm running a one-piece shaft, and I paid zero attention to my driveshaft angle when I put everything back in. I also have a fair bit of voltage drop on hot starts. The starter audibly is forcing. No issues on cold start though. I must not have removed all the paint under my main block ground during assembly. I'll try and take care of both those issues this week once the kids are asleep.  I also received all the parts I was missing for my direct port setup. I will hopefully have pictures of that up soon. I'm hoping to get back on the dyno the week of June 30th as I'll be on vacation. I'm confident I should be able to make north of 500rwkw on pump gas and WMI. I'll go back again later this summer with E98, but I want to confirm my ethanol content sensor is working properly first. I've never seen it read anything but 11%. This makes sense for our 10% ethanol content pump gas here, but I would expect the occasional movement between fill ups.
    • 75% complete. Will now need to get a new axle with 5x114.3 hubs and then figure out how to customize some mudguards for it once the wheels are on.
