Kor'axis
How much would you pay for a 10kw Gain at the wheels simply simply equating money to kw. As most people on this forum drive a slightly/moderately modded r33 we'll take the base kw to be around 180kw at the wheels. Intensevil
last time i checked the local exchange rate on the "kw" was about $5 per 1kw, but on the stock exchange things move so quickly so dont quote me on that. in all seriousness you cant just turn money into an exact kw figure. There are a whole host of different and expensive or cheap mods that can be done for power, ie an exhaust would probably gain more than 10kw or it could gain less it all depends on too many factors Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/66735-how-much-for-a-10kw-gain/#findComment-1241106 Share on other sites
Bass Junky
Exhaust, Full from turbo back.... $1700 maybe 20 kw gain at wheels. $85 per kilowatt. Power FC plus tune, $1500, 25 kw at wheels $60 per kilowatt. My piece of string is this long ------------------------------ How long's yours? Kor'axis
i know there are heaps of factors influencing this but it's just interesting to see how people view this... it's just a hypothetical Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/66735-how-much-for-a-10kw-gain/#findComment-1241115 Share on other sites
Bass Junky
Turbo kit, $3000 plus 500 to install. 35rwkw gain, = 100 per kW The response is worth more than that though. always_me
why waste your money only only 10kw anyways?? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/66735-how-much-for-a-10kw-gain/#findComment-1241299 Share on other sites
Guerilla
... I watched a video from split fire changing the spark plugs, ignition leds and air filter on a commonwhore and getting 10kW on the dyno... racsov500
who said id had to cost alot? just getting more air in helps, and just a basic tune up(as guerilla said) big turbos, engine rebuilds and the like are more in everyway, so i guess the more you want the more itll cost you. now im just stating the obvious.. :uhh: Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/66735-how-much-for-a-10kw-gain/#findComment-1241593 Share on other sites
race_snooze
bleed valve air pod (more boost more power) theres your 10kw for less then $200. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/66735-how-much-for-a-10kw-gain/#findComment-1242046 Share on other sites
Abo Bob
Depends where you are in the upgrade path. You can't put a bleed vlave and filter on a car that already has one. If you've upped the boost, changed filter, full exhaust and engine management there's not much around to get your gain that's cheap. Guest Mashrock
whats 10kw between friends. **** turn up the boost. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/66735-how-much-for-a-10kw-gain/#findComment-1243089 Share on other sites
|PRESA|
The quickest and one of the cheapest ways to up the boost is a T peice bleed valve. With stock cooler I would recommend 10psi.. with aftermarket front mount up to 12psi. To run approx. 180rwkw I would suggest a pod filter, 3" turbo back exhaust, FMIC, bleed valve at 12psi. With that easily 180rwkw. If you want to hit the 200rwkw then go the Apexi PFC. Custom mild steel 3" Exhaust $1000 approx. Pod filter $100 - $150 Bleed valve $100 FMIC bolt on kit $1200 (nengun - Greedy) Apexi PFC $1500 approx (plus tune) Hope thats of some use. benm
Exhaust Cam Gear = $250 installed (or $150 if you install yourself) for a solid 10rwkw. So that's only $15/kw. You can get cheap power for about the first $5k. Then everything after that triples. popeye132
i just took my car for a plug n oil service and a dyno tune and got 7kw at the wheels more on my 300zx, but if you want cheap 10kw just get a $70 boost controller and increase to 10psi and you will get over 10kw easy for only $70!! abcent
10kW out of stock R33...pretty cheap....10kW more out of a worked skyline already putting out bigger figures......quite expensive as i read above some where, all depends on where your at with your tunning. Air pod & bleed valve will gain over 10kW on a stocker, not so easy at the higher end of the kW figures, maybe bigger turbo? maybe rebuilding or balancing the motor? Not cheap! so i dont think it can really be judged in $$ terms Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/66735-how-much-for-a-10kw-gain/#findComment-1247793 Share on other sites

xRHETTx
jaycar boost controller and AFR adjuster with hand controller.. about $200 all up. Sydneykid installed these recently in his stock stagea and got 30% increase in power with only a small boost increase and better AF rations.
