Just wanted to inform everyone that I took your advice and went to barry's today. If first impresions counted I would have turned around and walked out. The place is an absolute mess!

But turns out he knows his shit. X-speed hadn't even set up certain things on the s-afc. The car pulled 260bhp on his dyno which is a huge difference on the road, and for this he only charged 80 bucks!! This included advancing the timing.

And adam, your right in saying he always looks stressed!!

Anyways im pretty happy, my car feels like it should.

Steve, I'm sure I heard him talk about pfc's at one point, so he has experience with them. When i picked up my car, there was a guy dropping off a vlt to have his wolf3d tuned. Since Barrie tunes stand alone management, he should be ok with pfcs.

I've known Barry for a while now, and if he can't tune it then no-one can. The other tuners end up sending there cars to him when they don't know what to do.

I agree the place looks like a shithole, but his is a dyno-dynamics dyno, which have the reputation of being one of the best. He has a great reputation but don't try ringing when he's busy. I was standing there getting my car tuned once and the phone keeps ringing and ringing without him lifting his head.

Good to see that you finally got that S-AFC tuned properly Hick's, I'm expecting great things from you at the drags tonight, and then we can meet later to compare our cars.

See'ya:burnout:

ESPECIALLY WITH SUMMER COMING UP! you may want to be careful at 14psi, i don't want to hijack the thread and i know this has been discussed many of times but Macka can confirm for us that running this boost aint the boost of ideas when giving your engine a bit! feels great for now....... but it's only a matter of time till your ceramic wheels gets shat out of your exhaust pipe like Mr Whippy with laxatives!

    • The best part is when you own the car long enough that you look back and find your OWN ham fisted amateur shit!
    • The annoying part about neglect, is when you start to replace one thing, and find ten more broken things. Ham fisted monkey repairs you normally only find out about when trying to do something unrelated! Ha ha   Neglect you can kind of anticipate the huge costs to fix it all. Ham fistedness is normally a shock the first time your work on a new old car, as everything "looked" good before.
    • For DBA, check out their guide table here. https://dba.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Direct_Replacement-Guide-2021.2.pdf   Additionally they have some other guides and info on how to make sure you choose the right pad.
    • Sorry, just assumed that talk of coloured pads meant EBC red/green/yellow/shit stuff. I don't know the DBA pads, but it's a reasonable bet that they will be OK. DBA make good stuff generally. Those 4000 series rotors I linked to are very good. I may well replace the RDA rotors I have with those when required.
    • The average previous owner for these cars were basically S-chassis owners in the US. Teenagers or teenager-adjacent. I often tell people that neglect is easier to fix than something that was actively "repaired" by previous owners.
