Hi all, Planning to get my GTR a engine rebuilt. I dont realli know about what they do with the engine rebuilt, is there anyone can list what they normally do with a GTR engine rebuilt, I mean what u have to change to aftermarket one. And what's the normally cost will be a full engine rebuilt? Just want to have an idea. My friend done his R34 GTR engine rebulit with upgrade RB26 to RB27. It cost like around 20G. I dont want to be like RB27 or RB28 or something, just want to give the engine a new life. And also I serach a few brands that they have the rebuilt kit.

So which one is ppl recommend?

1:JUN

2:Trust

3:HKS

4:MINES (hell price)

5:Tommei (hell price)

6:NISMO (only seen that in Japan)

I'll start with the bottom end,

Forged Piston's : Arias - $1450

Forged Rods : Crower - $2100

Crank Shaft: Tomei forged counter weight - $5k +

Machiening & Balancing - $3 - 5k - price will vary depending on what needs to be done.

I would use thoes spacific parts if i was on a tighish budget, but if you want to go nuts go for a HKS/JUN/TRUST/TOMEI stroker - $10k for the piston's/rods/crankshaft.

Then you'r bearings crank shaft main bearing, con-rod bearing

Genuine Nissan bearing kit - $600

Rear Crank shaft seal - $60

New idler bearing $95

New tensioner bearing $45

New Genuine nissan water pump - $150

New Oil Pump - $500?

New Gaskets for oil pump and water pump - $20

Head:

Port & Polish - I'm not sure on price?

Tomei Metal HeadGasket - $450

Tomei Camshafts - $1000

Valve springs - Depending on what lift cam shafts you want to use the price can vary from $500 through to $1400

Upgrade Valve's - ?

Upgrade Lifter's - $700

Valve guide's - $750

Thoes price's are off the top of my head so they could be expensive/less give and take. All that adds up to just short of $20,000, its not until you add up the price of all the little things that makes a engine rebuild expensive!

Theirs proberly more that i've missed.

hope that helps,

Cam

u dont really need an engine rebuild coz like the dude said can make over 460hp with stock internals and if uve seen hi octane 4 and 3 , they go thro a whole rb26 deal and end up doin high 11's without doin a whole rebuild :D

but if u really wanna blow ur cash then heres how www.hioctaneracing.com.au u can find a whole engine rebuild pack for like 6 - 8 grand , sometimes having japanese parts isnt the best.....

Thanks for everyone's advice. My friend rebuilt his R34 GTR at CRD with fully JUN 2.7 set. He was talking to a lot of shops about rebuilt engine. But finialy he choose CRD to do the work. Tune ECU, get bigger internal, wash everything and things like that. He recommend CRD. But I just woudering to ask ppl in this form who done engine rebuilt with your GTR. Recommend some place as I can choose one to do my engine rebuilt.

the stock engine if in good shape can make good power reliable

1/wreakhead ~450awkw (10.8sec 1/4mile)

2/rick madsons gtr r33 550rwhp(i have seen it run on a dyno day)

3/mine gtr r33 529.4rwhp

so i would only rebuild when it needs it

So what is another way that my friend told me, just put HKS 2530 in and change dump pipe, front pipe, big cat. Have fun with it for a while, then unitl one day the engine finished. But I just worry about if I do that way, I mean of course I will have big intercooler, radiator upgrade, hard piping work for the 2530. Otherwise its gonna easy to blow engine i believe. So how about the rest of engine parts, If I put 2530 in it, does that mean gonna blow the engine quickly? Or if I do blow the engine after I put 2530 in, is that gonna dammage the turbo as well? Want everyone to give an idea.

I might asking these stupid question, I like my GTR, but I dont know the thing inside the engine, so just want to know that clearly and learn more about it. I have done a lot of research these days with these rebulit parts. read a lots of book. Just want to make the things clear.

Sorry about the misunderstanding. My english isn't that good. I just try to explain what I want to say. oF course for the 2530 that I had now are twin. I just bought a Tommei RB26 engine rebulit magzine. It is realli mad... but only got japanese version. It is not only tell the step and also with all the pics show in it. Unfortunately, it is hard for me to understand all of these things. But yeh! I will talk to CRD next week and see what they said...

    • Yeah agreed, you can't assume that shop are they only people who ever had to work on it. It was just a guess on the mods based on how things were done back then. You can check the Air Flow Meters by the part number on their tags, they are likely either Z32 or Nismo ones (both read about the same but the Z32 one is a little larger while nismo is stock size but supports the higher airflow like a Z32). And yes, all that would get you to 450hp / 340kw To tell what is happening with the turbos, you want a photo of the tag on the core, that will say what it was made out of  (they can retain the front and rear covers to make the plumbing easier)
    • I'm selling my personal race car. 1992 BNR32 Skyline GT-R About eight years ago the engine developed the dreaded low oil pressure problem. I removed it and found the issue. However shortly after I moved half way across the country, moved my work shop, bought a house, got married, then moved my shop again to it's permanent location for the time being. in turn I do not have the time to race this car as it should be. In turn the engine I built for this car will end up in my street car and this car I hope finds a home with someone who can use it to it's full potential. The roll bar was built by Jason Noren Fabricaiton in Pomona California to SCCA and NASA Specs. The car used to compete in redline time attack and global time attack enthusiast class. It also has a fire suppression system.  The car is with me at my workshop in Kyle Texas, USA. Shipping it is no problem, I can personally deliver the car to the port of either Houston or Los Angeles. Any other port depending on where it is may require transport but we can always work that out.   The chassis itself is rust free, rear quarters and under fenders are free of any rust so it's a very solid foundation for anyone who wishes to move forward with it. As posted and at the asking price of $20,000 USD the car includes all of the following;   All OEM Body panels, front fenders, rear bumpers etc.  OEM Nissan Projector headlamps (Pictured N1 lamps were removed) OEM Nismo Side Skirts / Extensions OEM Rear Spats  Front & Rear Subframes are installed car is full roller Rear Subframe has Cusco Camber Arms, Whiteline HICAS Elimination Front Subframe has Whiteline tension rods and whiteline Sway bars w/ endlinks.  Buddy Club N1 Coilovers All chassis wiring and engine wiring is in tact. Attessa System is fully in tact and was functional before engine removal.  BCNR33 GT-R Brembo Brakes F+R with Endless MX72 Plus Pads, DBA Rotors & Stainless Steel Brake lines Billion Racing Radiator Billion Radiator Hoses Fluidyne Engine Oil Cooler Accusump System (trunk Mounted) 5 Speed Transmission w/ Transfer Case F+R Prop-shafts Rear Differential With rear Axles.  Nismo Gauge Cluster Nismo Clutch + Flywheel   Essentially what is needed to make this car running and driving again is as follows: A working Engine, an ECU, and time to put it together. The price posted is or best offer as I am willing to remove some components to accommodate price to a certain extent. If any serious buyer wants full detailed pictures, videos, or any questions I'll be happy to answer them. I believe this car is priced to move quickly considering it's a rust free and very straight chassis but always open to fair negotiation.  I can be contacted via phone or email. • So...to my (and my mechanics doing the swap) surprise...the oil pan from NEO engine does not fit 100% and needs to by modified like this: It is not a huge problem but in the future i want a "proper" oil pan. So question is...what different oil pan can i get to fit without any problems and modification? Thanks!
    • Some more info I found.  These are the last entries Yoshikiyo Fujii made on his blog before he passed away in 2009: http://blog.livedoor.jp/fujii_dynamics/ And finally this is where the workshop was situated:  https://maps.app.goo.gl/HhTPtHzt3WVcBTiEA
