A guy has these for sale on nissansilvia.com forums for the outrageous price of $950. They look...well interesting anyway. Anyhow, the bit I'm interested in is he claims they are made from original Nissan lights, he also has ones for S15s, 180s etc, claims they are all made from original nissan lights. I have to admit, they do LOOK like a clear version of the real R33 lights....what do you think guys, are they original? If so, how the hell is it done?? The original plastic is red plastic right? No way to "bleach" it.

roflmao... $950... hah what a rort.

take your existing red lenses out, take em to a plexiglass fabricator, and have them moulded/replicated in clear and it'll cost you no more than $200. Its such a simple job.

Get them fabricated? What about the Reflectors? Are they part of the plastic, or just things stuck on the inside. Havent looked closely enough at mine, they are too dirty anyway to make out any details :D

indeed, you need to have at least 1 red reflector on each side. The easiest way to do a clear ADR friendly one is to have a red centre on one (reflector), and a yellow centre on the other (to use as an indicator).

Hmmm

they look to be the active-K ones that viva garage sell for $895 and considering its the same photo thats on their website i think someones just scamming some $$$$

I was at Viva Garage the other day & saw these, they are exactly the same as stock but replaced with smokey silver reflector/ lenses. $895 seems a bit rich let alone $950 :looney: .

You could get similar result by spraying 'night shades' ($15), it gives a black transparent tail light lens coating - not street legal though.

you guys aren't honestly gonna pay more than a hundred for clear versions of these things are you? because if you are I might just get a set made so I can milk yas for all your money.

btw active-k charge 50400 yen for it (around $650) which should cost about $700 landed at your doorstep.

they're tomei caps, just plain red, also available in black... the amber swirls are from the packaging relecting...

what I meant was, that the actual red components inside your tail lights are very similar to these things in shape (I don't mean you can use these things instead) and its not that hard to get a clear set made up. In fact I was talking to doxx trying to organise one and if there was interest we could do a batch for people. If you take your tail light apart you'll soon find out that clear lenses for em are not worth in excess of 700 bucks.

Hell I've seen ghetto R32's with cataract tail-lights made by using fluroscent lamp covers.

Yeah the $950 is totally outrageous...so is $700, in my opinion. I'd pay about $200 if I wanted them, and if they were legal - I'm not sure about either of those things yet.

I dunno, Skyline taillights are so iconic, I feel like it would be blasphemy to change them. Even when I was playing the Need for Speed Underground games I couldn't put ricey mods on the R34 taillights because it just felt...wrong lol.

I actually like the LED ones better.

    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
    • I assume clearances were all a-okay?
