Evening,

Slightly off topic, though I’m looking to get EBC soon, and dun wanna pop my zhuast wheels into the cat. Does anyone know any good places to get em rebuilt with steel wheels? Maybe even a front wheel change? A place here in Cbr quoted me 2000 just for the wheel change!?! Surely not.

Any help would be appreciated

PS - What boost do ppl run with the ceramic wheels? I was thinking 10 would be safe?

Dyna Torque here in sydney can do just about anything for you. A complete rebuild, steel wheels, 360degreee bearing etc should be about $2000 roughly.

Most ppl on here reckon 14psi max with stock ceramic turbo's.

Cheers!

Though I was thinking it'd be closer to the 1G mark for just the steel wheel, and balance; could I get away with just that? Its done 87K Km's.

I heard 14-15 pounds is the limit'ish, though has anyone here run that amount for a long time / constantly?

Thanks all

Mine let go on 12psi boost... depends on how "fatigued" the bonding material is I guess...

In Canberra the only place I would trust for a rebuild would be Cooma Diesel out in Fyshwick. When mine let go, they wanted roughly $2000 for a rebuild as mentioned above ($960 per turbo I think it was). Decided to spend some extra cash and get HKS GT2530's, never looked back since :)

12 pounds? Shiiite. Mmm, yeah that’s the conclusion Iv come to, save for 2530's. Where did you pick yours up from? As the cheapest iv seen is 4G +!

Which 2530's fit the stock manifolds?

Thanks man

I agree, go a set of GT 2530's. I was looking at getting my stockers steel wheeled from GCG, but it was only a couple of hundred difference to get the 2530's.

You can buy the GT2530's for GTR almost anywhere, just make sure you get the kit for the GTR.

    • The issue now is the 'fuel cut' while driving, and when it happend, it does not stall. This, I did not test the fuel pressure while driving as I cannot with a fuel pressure gauge. I do have Nistune logs, yes. I have also replaced the MAF Sensor.   Also related to the FPG Fuel Hanger – I just realized that I need a Deutsch Crimp Tool to crimp some cables for the FPG Fuel Hanger. Need to purchase additional cables as the kit only included 2, which are for the float. FPG is has not responded to my emails so far after purchasing. I thought about taking it to someone and having it done professionally, but I am reluctant since everyone I took it to messed up in some way.
    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
