Mitch cause your young ill tell you how to get the cheapest insurance job in Perth..

When you car is registered on the road, get your father to go along with you when you put it over the pits, and when you pay for 1 year registration put the car under your Fathers name, so on paper it is HIS car. Or you can get your mother it doesn’t matter.

Then all you have to do is, for them to put the car under there car insurance, and you as a driver. This scam, shouldn’t call it that, but it works, hell I my father got quoted with 15000$ cover for a 300zxtt with me as driver, 600$ with 200$ excess.

Its going to be the only way you will get respectable pricing from any firm, otherwise you will be up in the high 1000-2500$ with over a 1000$+ excess plus a fee for been under 25

Right now I am 22; got a fairly highly modified GTS-t R32 given it was built by prime garage for circuit racing. I have it under my name, with HBF, for 1150$ a year 15000$ cover [unfortunately it was all I could afford at the time I wanted $25000] with $1000 excess… They made it very clear I wasn’t allowed to let ANYONE under the age of 21 drive this vehicle and if I did It wouldn’t be insured. And only those declared as drivers on the policy may drive it for cover otherwise there’s an additional 500$ on top of the 1000$ excess.

Let me know how you go, insurance at a young age is a real Bitch but its great your going after it. It shows responsibility, in the thought.

The premium amount is based on the risk of the driver and the vehicle, if your father was quoted $600 with you as a driver, I can guarantee you were listed as a 1% driver or there abouts, and not the main driver. If you were to make a claim, and the company investigated and discovered you were the main driver, they would decline your claim.........

You cant scam the system, there is no point. Imagine if you did and paid a few years of insurance and then made a claim and your company found out you had lied, what would have been the point of paying the premium in the first place! Your only cheating yourself.

Same with mods, make sure you tell your insurance company about all the mods you have done to your car, dont hide it away, coz come claim time they will turn their back on you.

As well as driver history and speeding infringements/accidents. Disclose everything or dont expect sympathy from the Insurer come claim time...

Which factors might these be? your No Claim Bonus will go up I presume?

No claim bonus back.

Turn 25

and also will be off my P plates.

Basically waited ages to get my licence then lost it once then fell under the new 2 year P plate rule, get off them in november.

This should drop my premium somewhat, also I think renewing a policy drops it a bit aswell.

i know of a few SKYLINE owners who have been nicely advised that we will sue them for fraud when they were making a claim....why is it always the skyline drivers...see silvia owners...younger usually...just pay for insurance or they dont insure...skyline owners...we have big brains and can scam the system.. fine your attitude is commendable especially when there is a pending lawsuit waiting..

imagine you life falling to bits just because you wanted to save $500.

karma people

any petrol turbo vehicle is classed as performance usually...and then with differing loadings depending on the actual performance... dont forget when speaking to front line staff...thats all they are...FRONT LINE STAFF....actual underwriting is a different issue... making an assumption that insurance companies havent heard every friggin scam under the sun is naive...

very very much so..

its funny the joy we get from seeing some of the claims that have been declined due to fraudulent information...

i used to be like...hey i can rort the system...but now i really do not want to be one of the ones the system catches up to.

for those that get away...good on ya for giving the aussie battlers a chance..

dont forget the insurance market is all relative... you get cheap insurance now...then you get more expensive insurance later..cos you dont have your own no claim bonus.

more expensive now...and when you get a more speccy expensive car later...you have a no claim bonus and the benfits of being older to help bring the premiums down..

If you have your car insurance under a parents name to make it cheaper and have yourself listed as a non-regular driver, and the insurance premium is NOT based on the age of the youngest driver and a claim is made and it is determined that you were the regular driver and had actually obtained insurance by providing false or misleading information to the insurance company you can, and more than likey will be charged with a crime.

I have been an investigator for 4 years for an insurance company, albeit health insurance, but I have seen a number of people get themselves into trouble for doing similar things.

My suggestion, as mitchy_'s, if you can't afford the car AND insurance on your own, you CAN'T afford the car.

It's people who do these types of things that cause the problems in the first place. Why do you think premiums go up? No, it's not because the companies are greedy, it's usually because of the following:

General inflation

Expensive parts (usually imports because the parts usually need to be sourced from Japan)

Dickheads committing fraud

I would strongly suggest that in the event you ARE committing fraud, or have misled your insurance company into charging you a lower premium through non-disclosure or blatant lying, that you:

1. Rectify it immediately because a criminal conviction at any age can severley stuff up the rest of your life.

2. Don't go admitting it on public forums.

Jason.

exactly jason... the insurance may be cheaper... initially. but in the event you need to make a claim, you may have just paid all that insurance to make a failed claim, and repairs come out of your own pocket...

when i bought the car, i was given a list of every mod + detail of the car, right down to the % of brake pads left, and i just gave that list to the insurance company. that way i know my insurance is (from what i can see) not going to have any problems :P

This is how we use to do it, I have my car in my own name, and it is listed under a high performance, when they asked for a list of aftermarket parts on the policy, I asked him to explain, the guy on the phone said, pretty much he wants to know what I want covered on the policy. In other words, if something happen, and the policy states the intercooler system is worth 800$ then the insurance will allocate $800 to a replacement. If something that wasn’t speculated on the policy, they won’t replace it. Only to what would be stock.

tehnically there will be all these clauses in your policy that states if the car is modified without telling them they dont have to pay out etc etc . but personally ive never informed the insurance company of mods unless I want them to cover it . if its totalled and you loose 5k in mods atleast you got most of your cash back

anyway im with hbf , i had a 02 200sx 28k value 700$ per year max NCB 27 years old

i had the policy 2 days and my better half drove it into a tree . 8k damage . hbf were quite happy to pay .

now ive got a r33 gtst sedan 95 15k value about 600$ per year

Vic and NSW are quite expensive, the rest of the country is relatively cheap compared to WA, this based on Metro areas of course....

As for picking up a R34 Gt-t auto, Have you looked into importing one? Should get a clean example for that value quite easily if you bought from an auction through a broker.

I can recommend Autoworx in Wangara, they are bringing in s R33 GTS25t sedan for me now. Paul is great up there.

Sydney premiums are usually higher than Perth also, most of us should be lucky people like Just Cars will offer insurance as none of your mainstream insurers will offer cover on a highly modifed grey import to a 20yo with previous at fault claims....

23 with no claims or convictions and driving since 2000.

For yearly insurance on an auto 98 r34 GTT coupe at $25k

HBF: $1250 with $300 excess. Unlimited windscreens a hire car etc and no restrictions on parking or anything

Just Cars: $975 with $600 excess ($300 basic + $300 22-25 year old)

Think just cars might also have an extra $400 excess but the emails at home and can't remember what it's for.

hmm tough choice.

edit: no convictions not multiple ones :)

edit2: the extra $400 excess is actually $700 and i's for some endorsement

    • Back again. I returned to Japan in Jul/Aug to spend time with the car on my birthday and remind myself what all the sacrifice and compromise is for. It happened to line up with the monthly morning meet in Okutama, which I have been wanting to go to for a long time. It's a unique event at a unique spot with really rare, interesting, and quirky cars. It's where all the oldheads and OGs gather. The nighttime scene at DKF certainly has its place and should be experienced if you're into cars, but there's too much bad attention and negativity around it now. IMO the better time is Sunday morning at DKF or Okutama; it's more chill and relaxed. I'm glad I was finally able to go, but not sure it's worth the drive from all the way from Nagoya immediately the day before, unless I was already staying in Tokyo for the days right before the meet, because you have to wake up quite early to make it in time. Funnily enough though I didn't drive the car all that much this trip because it was just too damn hot. While there were zero issues and running temps were nominal and the A/C was strong, RBs already run crazy hot as it is. Sure, it took it all like a champ but something about driving these cars in the ridiculous heat/humidity bothers me and makes me feel like I'm asking too much of it. I'm just me being weird and treating the car like a living thing with feelings; I'm mechanically sympathetic to a fault. Instead I was mainly driving something else around - a KX4(silver) 2001 X-Trail GT, that I acquired in May. There's a few different flavors to choose from with Xs, but visually it's the Nissan version of the Honda CR-V. Mechanically it's a whole different story as this, being the top-trim GT, has an SR20VET mated to a four-speed auto and full-time AWD! It was a very affordable buy in exceptional condition inside and out, with very low mileage...only 48k kms. Most likely it was owned by an older person who kept it garaged and well-maintained, so I'm really happy with how it all worked out. It literally needs zero attention at the moment, albeit except for some minor visual touch-ups. I wanted something quirky, interesting, and practical and for sure it handily delivers on all three of those aspects. I was immediately able to utilize the cargo and passenger capacity to its full extent. It's a lot of fun to drive and is quite punchy through 1st and 2nd. It's very unassuming -in the twisty bits it's a lot more composed than one would think at a glance- and it'll be even better once I get better tires on it(yes, it's an SUV but still a little boat-y for my liking). So...now I have two golden-era Nissans in silver. One sports car and one that does everything else; the perfect two-car solution I think👍 The rest of the trip...I was able to turn my stressed brain off and enjoy it, although I didn't quite get to do as much as I thought. I did some interesting things, met some interesting people, and happened into some interesting situations however, that's all for another post though only if people really want to know. Project-wise, I went back to Mine's again to discuss more plans and am hoping to wrap that up real soon; keep watching this space if that interests you. Additionally, while working in the tormenting sweatbox that is the warehouse, I was able to organize most of the myriad of parts that my friend is storing for me along with the cars, and the 34 has a nice little spot carved out for it: And since it can get so stupid hot in there, that made it all the more easy -after I was standing there looking at the car and said 'f**k it'- to finally remove all the damn gauges that have mostly been an eyesore all this time. Huzzah. The heat basically makes the adhesive backing on the gauge mounts more pliable to work with, so it was far less stressful getting this done. I didn't fully clean it up or chase the wiring though; that will happen once I have the car in closer possession. Another major reason to remove all that stuff is to give people less reasons to get in my car and steal s**t while it's being exported/imported when/if the time comes, which leads us to my next point... ...and that is even though it's time in Japan is technically almost up since it's a November car and the X would be coming in March, I'm still not entirely sure where my life and career is headed; I don't really know what the future looks like and where I'm going to end up. I feel there's a great deal of uncertainty with me and as a result of that, it feels like I'm at a crossroads moreso now than any point in my life thus far and there are some choices I need to make. Yes, I've had some years to consider things and prepare myself, however too much has happened in that time to maintain confidence and everything feels so up in the air; tenuous one might say. Simply put, there's just too much nonsense going on right now from multiple vectors. Admittedly, I'm struggling to stay in the game and keep my eyes on the prize. So much so in fact, that very recently I came the closest I ever have before to calling it quits outright; selling everything and moving on and not looking back. The astute among you will pick up on key subtext within this paragraph. In the meantime I've still managed to slowly acquire some final bits for the car, but it feels nice knowing there's not much left to get and I'm almost across that finish line; I have almost everything I'll ever want for my interpretation and expression on what it is I think an R34 should be. 'til later.
    • Thanks for that, hadn’t used my brain enough to think about that.
    • Also playing with fire if they start to flow more air down low than what the stock twins can. It's not even up top you need to worry, it can be at 3000rpm and part throttle and it's getting way more flow than it should.
    • Any G40/1000 or G40/1250 results out there?
    • You still want a proper tune on the stock ECU though. Stock tune + stock ECU with GT-SS/-9s is probably playing with fire if you're running more than stock airflow/power.
