Guys.

Just read this on another forum

http://www.search.asic.gov.au/cgi-bin/gns0...t=ACN&srchsrc=1

It appears brant has gone into administration, so you may not be able to get support on your alarm systems.

Sorry thats all the infomation I have.

p.s.. if this is a repost.. keep smart ass remarks to your self. :(

plus plenty of support from insurers. I have heard some stuff cases where their systems were not quite all that. but I guess like all these alarms if you are trained in installing them, it's a piss of cake to disable them. and that's the problem so many people installing Brant alarms. sure they have security licences (or should) but that's no guarantee of their good character.

Thats the case with any alarm mate , if you know what you are doing you can start the car in seconds .

I have a 02 sti with the brant keypad ( a pain in the ass i might add ) . Every time the battery gets low you have to go back to Suabaru to get a master code put in and the good thing about it has to go on a tilt tray . People are paying for the tow track $80- 150 + 45-60 to the suby dealer just for 2 minutes work . They wont give you the master code for obvious reasons .

My battery went flat a few weeks ago and when it wouldnt accept the code i desided it was time to bypass it . It took me about 10 minutes to locate the unit and about 10 minutes to work out how to bypass it . Now that i know how its done i can do it in about 30 seconds , so much for the fantastic brant keypad system .

I may add that the sti has another brant unit in it that is controlled by the subaru key ( a little button on it ) and a third one that comes with the car from japan .

All very easy to bypass with a little know how .

on the topic of easily bypassed, i would say most factory fitted alarms are easy to get around. They would all be installled the same and once a weakness if found the car is fair game. If I was buying a wrx I would not get it with an alarm and have a custom one installed.

I had a Brant in my Soarer - it was the most useless alarm i've used. Had to practically hold the transmitter on the car to lock it, yet on quite a few occasions i'd be walking away from my car (20-50m) and i'd hear my car unlock (no idea how that happened, but i had to walk back to the car to lock it!). Transmitter batteries lasted about 2 months because you had to hold the button down for about 3 seconds to lock/unlock it

No idea about how easy it was to bypass, but it just gave me the shits. Young and Cool insurance required it though. Alot of people i know had gone back several times for replacement modules...

  • 1 month later...

For about $1200 -1300 you can get a tracker , why pay $1 k for an alarm ?

    • Yeah nice idea, you mean to suction it to the gauges? I hadn't thought of that.
    • A few suggestions: Do you have the option of retarding your exhaust cam gear to bring the power band over to the left? VCT would be turned off after you make peak torque, you see the power/torque will decay faster with it left on all the way to the limiter Once VCT is turned off, you'll find the motor will take a bit more timing being ramped in Send its mum, more boost! Of course, depends on your exhaust pressure.

    • I was back on the dyno again yesterday after completely revamping my methanol injection system. I was making 440kw at 19psi. Great, this is more then I was making last summer with my old meth system at that pressure, and I figured it would be smooth sailing up to 30+psi. We continued increasing from there and by 25psi, I had only hit 455kw. Dyno sadly lost utility power at this point and I left. We seemed to be on course to hit the same power wall as last summer (477kw@27psi). This is a built RB25 S1 stroked to a 2.8. Built and ported head with Kelford 272/262 cams. Precision 6466 Turbo. Tuner last year believed the power wall is a mix of RPM limitations (Hydro lifters/Limit set at 7600RPM) and fueling. With my new meth system, we're seeing zero knock now but it still won't go up.  What else can I do at this point? Here's my train of thought.  - It's clear from the dyno graph that I would easily make power to 8500+RPM but I'm limited to 7600RPM. I could risk increasing my limiter, but hydro lifters have me worried. What are my options here besides going NEO head or solid lifter conversion? I'm rocking a 1.05AR turbine on my 6466. Would dropping down to a .84 help shift that power down in anyway? - We're only seeing roughly a 30kw difference at the top end with VCT on or off. Is this normal? I want to confirm VCT is working properly. - Should I look into other cam options?  - Should I just keep increasing boost and see if she wakes up later on? I would expect to hit 600rwkw around 35psi with my 6466.
