We pick one night a week or fortnight, when we all catch up, get some food, go out blah blah and whoever wants to go for a cruise after that can?

it would be good to catch up with everyone and stuff. Make it one central location, and each time its the same place, same time...?

The best way to get new members and grow SAU QLD is if we all get seen around... Most car clubs grow from word of mouth, seeing someone and going up to have a chat etc...

What does everyone think? Please add any ideas etc etc :(

I think it's a top idea. If it's G/C though I won't be able to get there very regulary, if it's somewhere in Brissy, I wouldn't mind coming down every week or so.

I agree with word of mouth. Unless people see us or are told we won't get too many members quickly.

May be work out a place (resturant whatever) to meet, then at a certain time good for a cruise.

Also,

Where previously not many people turned up, thats because there arent many members. If there are 12 members and 25% come thats only 3, but if we get up to say 50 members, that 25% is 12ish turning up which isnt bad... We need more memebers, and for the current ones to become more active...

Either way the club needs to get moving, ive been amazed at the number of skylines up here, but the boards dont show that...

lol agreed, Toowoomba's not quite as far away but it's a bit of a pain to travel 1.5-2hrs each way for a quick meetup every week or two...

Guest Boxhead

i would be up for it every now and then...

maybe if we had a fortnightly meet???

and moved it..

like say first fortnight south as in gold coast, then then second up in north brissy or somethin?

that way it should make it easier, i know most of you will say but ppl will turn up only every 2nd time when its closest..

but i think thats more fair then ppl eg me and dave always travellying to brissy for this, or people in north always traveling to ggold coast...

just a thought

Good idea Boxhead, but if we keep changin the meeting point it might not work. May have a fixed meeting spot where we get free/cheap food (haha club discount :) ), then onto the cruise. Like you said some weeks go north, some go south may be every so often west etc.

But if we are organising regular meets it needs to be in a fixed placed, that way other skyline peoples can rock on over when they see us. Or we can tell someone "yes be here at this time."

As for Hillbilly's, hell yeah, I'm up Maleny way, so not quite inbred, but still have the scars from my second head removal operation

May be we can seriously organise a full on QLD cruise, like 3-4days were we start at G/C for exmaple and then roick up the coast to Gladstone, Yeppoon, Rocky whatever. That way we would have a massive convoy of Skylines and pretty much nobody would miss out (except far North QLD). Dunno, but many car clubs have road trips etc. May something we can plan for next year?

I think the rotating meeting point can work well, that way the people that dont want to travel can always come every few weeks when its close and the ones who dont mind the travel will go to each one...

Maybe pick out 2-3 meeting places and rotate? But i Agree with you Hit about people knowing where to go etc etc... So there are pluses and minuses for each option..

We should meet at willow bank once a month, that way we can all hook up and run our cars down the 1/4 too.

If we get a group happening we might get a discount :burnout:

I'm at the drags bout twice a month anyway with my old man, usally on wed night, trying to break 13s in his car and get a low 14 in mine.

The track is open every sat night for test n tune.

MicK51,

Sounds good but some of us aren't into inflicting strain on our vehicles........... but that ain't me heheheh.

I think you will find a lot of people won't go to drags for whatever reason. Me personally I would love to go down and am planning to soon, but no money at moment and it's a pretty friggin long way. Plus I'm a piss weak pu55y, [insert abuse here] mummies boy

May be we can organise some more regular track and strip days, say once every few months at least, but until then we need to get more (paying) members. The best way to do that is to have regular cruises etc.

Still all I need for drags is long sleeved clothing, fire exh. and helmet right?? What is the cost? Is there usually many people at the test and tune?

I may seen if I can get down after New Year, before work starts again.

all u need is head to toe cloths and a helmet, $30 gets u and one other person (crew) on the strip and racing.

they have test n tunes every sat night and every 2nd wed, the wed night ones r usally pretty quite although last weeks was packed. Still got 4 runs in though...

I got my guards rolled today so the big wheels r on, hopefully 9 1/2" of rubber will let me launch a bit harder :burnout:

id be into cruises, tho the factor of me being on the goldcoast and most members in bris or further north does make it a little distance to travel, i have been traveling to brisbane to cruise with a bunch of s13 people (ie i used to drive a silvia)

i went to the drags last week with mick to give my new clutch a punishing, was great, i was shittin myself first run, and they woulda had trouble gettin me home if they didnt block off the staging lanes after i worked it all out :(:burnout: :D

ill definatly be investing in a helmet, and perhaps some more mods to ensure i continue to beat mick, just gotta build up the funds :) :bahaha:

I'd be fairly keen on regular-ish runs out at the drags. My only problem is that normally I'm in Toowoomba during the week so it's a bit of a hike.

You guys need to get a drop pipe made up, mine was 3" from the turbo and, well, a 3" pipe until it stopped under the passenger seat. Loud is good :(

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
