Don't get cross drilled ones. The cheap ones, ie the ones you and I can afford can crack around the holes and don't make any difference to the cooling anyway.

I use DBA4000 slotted but I think it was Roy that posted not so long ago about some RDA (I think it was RDA) rotors that are just as good as DBA and are cheaper.

Try Racebrakes in sydney and look for that thread.

I'm up for new rotors at the moment too. I have not been too lucky with DBA rotors in the past (mainly shuddering problems)...so I'm going to try something else this time.

A contact in Japan has recommended some Japanese made rotors (not endless, project mu etc). They will cost a bit more than the DBA's by the time they are landed, but hopefully they will be better.

The workshop who recommended them uses them on their race car, so hopefully they will be okay.

I've been thinking about this whole drilled rotor thing for a while.

See, an R32GTR has drilled rotors factory, and they're curved vane which says to me that they're not all that crap.

Also, I would consider that if you are smart, warm up and cool the rotors sufficently there should be not too many issues with them...

Make sure you shop around for the right type of rotor to get because there are so many overpriced brands around that just don't give you the bang for your buck that many other brands do. DBA's seem to be highly recommended and a few people on these forums seem to be using them.

Question though. Why are you replacing your rotors in the first place?

The only drilled rotors to get are genuine Brembo. They arn't drilled, but actually cast with the holes so stronger and don't crack as easy, but are expensive.

DBA4000 (slotted) would be my recommendation, I have now swapped to DBA5000 (slotted and with alloy hat), for OEM Brembo R32/33/34 these are approx $550 each, and only available for the front.

I can't see how a particular brand of rotor could cause shuddering.

Agreed. But different brands of rotors deteriorate at different rates. The only thing which sets different brands apart is its ability to disapate heat to keep overall heat on the disc down because in the end, heat is the only thing that is causing the warping and shuddering effect in the discs themselves.

Me (and quite a few others) have had issues with shuddering from when the rotors were new. They never had a chance to get hot. I'm not saying they all do (I'm sure they don't). But it's happened to me before, so I'm going to try something else this time.

The 32 GTR did come with cross drilled rotors....but no later/improved models did.....

there is something in that for all of us :D

There are still some high performance cars that run drilled discs but they are totally different, the holes are cast into them not drilled after the disc has been cast.

Don't bother with drilled, slotted are fine if the disc is adequate for car and its use

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
