Well, after finally getting the car sorted, license and rego, I got done overtaking tonight.

Ended up with 6 month suspension for 40 over the limit. Also got done for apparently re entering the road on double lines (not true) & not having p plates shown (they were :S )

Looks like I will sell the car and use the tram for the next 6 months. Not sure if I will return to a turbo car for a while. Might put more emphasis on saving some money for a house or something more useful.

BUT, i still have my license for 28 days.... so I am still up for 1 last cruise

It's all a bit stupid - according to the current laws its pretty much illegal to overtake somebody .. but 40km/hr is a fair bit over!

Just got to keep an eye out every second of the way, but it only takes 5 seconds of doing stupid and you pay for it for 6 months. To me that really takes the task off the actual driving part but that is what they've done to us.

I remember the days when you got pulled over and unless you were being acting a real dickhead and apologised they'd just let you off. Those days are gone. But i think eventually things will relax a bit - but it may be a few years when they realise there is only so much they can do ...as people will always kill themselves no matter how strict on the law they are.

well, some good news this morning.. kinda... I went back to where I was caught as I was sure it was an 80 zone not a 60zone like the officer said and printed on the ticket... It was actually a 70 zone which means that I lose it for 4 months only... not the 6 months + extra for losing all demerit points.

I went and saw the officers at the station and was told to "stop wasting their time" by asking for the ticket to be re-issued. I polietly stated that it was a hard blow with the tickets and lowering would still be a hard blow but fair as I was not speeding as much as they claimed.

They then went on to say they were following me for 5km and that it was the way I drove. Funny that I didnt speed for that whole time, but they told me I accelerated too fast, then overtook too fast (no shit).

Just realised that if I hadnt got my vic license on thurs, I would have only been suspened from driving in vic, not on the gold coast.

ALSO, speaking to the officers (who r actually from geelong) outside as we were leaving, a S15 drove past with a loud exhaust. Cop 1 says to Cop 2 "lets get him" ... ran to their SS and pulled a massive burnout onto the street and booted it (prolly 150 in a 60 zone!) ... talk about ****ing cowboys.

Take it to court. If there is mitigating circumstances (incorrect zone) then you could question many things about the decision. Its a lot of time and you'd probably have to pay for a lawyer but it could be worth it. The more people stand up to wrong decisions then the less likely they will be to tempted to get away with things in future. It takes up much of their time which they hate - and if they think twice the next time whether they are doing their job properly its worth it.

Followed you for 5km huh? yeah, they can do that - just waiting unil you do something wrong. That's harrasment.

got a friend whos an ex police prosecuter so he knows a fair bit. Will only go to court if I am 99.9% sure of winning, cos if I lose, the judge will prolly give me a conviction for wasting time and having such a large ticket etc, so then it will be hard for me to practice law in the future if I ever finish my degree. :S

You won't get penalised any further if there are proper circumstances like an incorrect zone. That isn't wasting any time as they are genuine circumstances for wanting it cut back to 4 months. If is the wrong zone listed you could just claim the cop was full of @#$@# and it might go off completely - its difficult because well cops can be wrong like anybody else, but of course the court doesn't like to find that.

Its an uphill battle, and it can stall things allowing you to drive around (i think?) on the chance it may or may not be upheld...but your choice.

heres my first bit of proof they are knuckle heads. Also, there is enough proof to clearly show it was impossible I crossed over and back on anything but dotted lines, so I think it will stand up pretty well in court that they lied and didnt know what they were doing. Then I guess the speed reading they took was probably fudged like the rest :(

Seems to me, skyline drivers are especially targeted by cops. I'm actually alittle apprehensive when I drive the skyline nowadays, when you get pulled over for the smallest things. Is it some evil conspiracy to target import car drivers? Why not Holdens, why not porsch drivers? Why not other cars?

considering all the things that they have ****ed up i would say u would be very likely to get off with a slap on the wrist... basically they have falsified almost everything so there is no proof to say that they havent exagerated the amount of speed u were doing.

take it to court and reem them

5kms, and you didnt spot them?

You need to be more PaRaNoId like me - i can smell them

hehe... 95% of the time you can spot them a mile away, its that 5% you don't that you're in trouble.

Watch out for subaru forresters, mitsibushi magnas, wrx, and of course commondoors.. they use them these days for undercover vehicles. Usually spottable due to lack of "real world" items (too clean, no "I went to lorne" stickers, straw hat in back seat, etc).

I am thinking I will cop a 3 month suspension and 3 points and thats it. If I dont get out of the double line charge I will get another suspension as P platers lose their license if they get more than 5 points in a year.

The cops were in a red undercover SS and I didnt spot them cos it was dark so all I could see was headlights up my arse. I was actually thinking it was a cop at the start then when I saw how shit drivers they were I thought it was the local rye bogan brigade trying to annoy me.

Anyway, its a bitch but I did break the law in regards to speeding, so im pretty sure I wont get off all together.

Never heard of this one??? You sure?? Is this a new thing they've brought in, if so it must be in the last few years?? I got about 6 points in one year on my p's i think, maybe it was even 9 at some stage... nothing like that was ever mentioned.

Sounds like a 'technicality' to me. I think reasonable grounds for fighting it. You're obviously Not Guilty of the charge (exceeding speed limit by 40).

They were gonna bring it in with those new laws a few weeks ago but are still apparently reviewing it. It would mean that P platers could not get 5 points in any 12 month period as well as the standard 12 points in any 3 years.

according to this, I would assume that it is now in force.

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
