Hicas Light?? What Is It

Hi all, i have an r32 gtst i was just wondering what the HICAS light means and what it is a warning of???

HICAS is the 4 wheel steering system used in Skylines. If the light is on continuously, it means there is a problem with HICAS.

As far as i new my gtst isnt 4 wheel steer as it is the 89 model???? does the HICAS light still represent a problem with this ????

they all have 4 wheel steering mate.

I used to have a problem with the HICAS light until I changed my power steering fluid.

i must be the stupidest kid on earth...i was sure their was 2 models ..one with 4wheels steer the other without.......

i guess im wrong then..i better make sure that my power steering fluid is topped up...can i use any power steering fluid or is their something special i need to use

There's one with 4 wheel DRIVE (actually 2 - the GT-R and the GTS4), and all of them with 4 wheel STEER.

You can get away with any P/S fluid.

do you have an aftermarket steering wheel?

this is a common problem, there was a thread about it ages ago.

I have an aftermarket wheel and my HICAS light is on 24/7.

I checked the connection to the fuse & HICAS computer today and that all seems fine

If anyone can remember the URL for the page on hicas + aftermarket wheel it would be greatly appreciated!

do a search for the HICAS diagnostic procedure first, then run the diagnostics just to confirm that it's a problem caused by the steering wheel
