I know this has been asked before but I could not find anything in a search.

Could anyone tell me if 6 3/4" splits (the ones in the link below) will fit in the front doors of a R33 S1.5 GTST.

Can anyone tell me what speakers do fit in the front doors in the standard position?

Thanks in advance.

i got some jaycar 6.5" splits and they do not fit in the stock plastic mount. i installed one today, we had to remove the plastic mount, then make a mount from MDF onto which the speaker is mounted. i dont see how a 6.75" speaker could mount in there...

They will fit, however the speakers will nto directly "bolt on" into the stock plastic mould.

You will have to remove the plastic mould (4 screws) and make up a custom pod from a sheet of mdf.

Simple really takes 30mins of messing around.

You will need a:

Sheet of MDF

1 x M6 Tap - to tap the screw holes out for the bolts.

8 x M6 Bolts long enough to go through the thickness of your MDF sheet and 5mm more to go into sheet metal.

1 x Sheet of MDF i would recommend 12mm

and some silicon to put between the wood and the metal as a seal.

wat about the front grill of the pioneer speakers, they would'nt fit exactly in the stock hole would they? Or do u guys just use the r33 grill and not bother using the pioneer's? Wat do u guys do to fit this in?

And for the speaker wiring u just chop off the old connecter and fit another one that fit the pioneers, wat connectors are used?

thanx

I would suggest using the factory grill for 2 reasons:

1. The doors are slightly curved especcialy the drivers side

2. Keeps the install stealth thus less luring to potential theives.

As for connectors, i would Highly recommend using new wiring, as the factory wiring is of quite poor quality. And as for joins, i would recommend you Solder and Heatshirnk all connections, however you can crimp connectors on if you wish.

kool thanx for the replies, yea currently deciding to leaving the factory grill on as the pioneers need alot of modifying to fit on perfectly like using plastic or fibre molding.

anyways speakers sounded sweet now.

cheers :)

they fit on the rear. my bad.  6" with the bracket fit on the front.

hey, i used to use 6" jl audio splits 2 cars ago with custom pods. when i got my old r33 skyline i tried to fit them, assuming the stock size was 6". they were too small to fit into the standard plastic mounts, so i assumed stock they are 6.5"(and left the crappy speakers in there)

in my current r33, as i wrote before i got 6.5' jaycar splits (after learning from the previous 6" being too small) which were too big. as u can imagine i was annoyed!

anyway aftermarket speakers came in the car, they fit into the standard front mounts, i just checked the box, and they are 6.5' !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so basically, some 6.5' speakers will fit without modification, and some wont. jaycars dont. kenwood 6.5' coaxials(blue coloured) do, as that is what was in there.

yep my pioneers fit exactly in the stock mount except i drilled new holes to secure it in as the holes from the stock speakers doesn't match up.

I was told if u wanna fit aftermarket speakers without any hassles get the Clarions as all nissans got clarions as stock and apparently theres no need to modify the wirings also (correct me if i'm wrong).

:D

    • Yeah nice idea, you mean to suction it to the gauges? I hadn't thought of that.
    • A few suggestions: Do you have the option of retarding your exhaust cam gear to bring the power band over to the left? VCT would be turned off after you make peak torque, you see the power/torque will decay faster with it left on all the way to the limiter Once VCT is turned off, you'll find the motor will take a bit more timing being ramped in Send its mum, more boost! Of course, depends on your exhaust pressure.

    • I was back on the dyno again yesterday after completely revamping my methanol injection system. I was making 440kw at 19psi. Great, this is more then I was making last summer with my old meth system at that pressure, and I figured it would be smooth sailing up to 30+psi. We continued increasing from there and by 25psi, I had only hit 455kw. Dyno sadly lost utility power at this point and I left. We seemed to be on course to hit the same power wall as last summer (477kw@27psi). This is a built RB25 S1 stroked to a 2.8. Built and ported head with Kelford 272/262 cams. Precision 6466 Turbo. Tuner last year believed the power wall is a mix of RPM limitations (Hydro lifters/Limit set at 7600RPM) and fueling. With my new meth system, we're seeing zero knock now but it still won't go up.  What else can I do at this point? Here's my train of thought.  - It's clear from the dyno graph that I would easily make power to 8500+RPM but I'm limited to 7600RPM. I could risk increasing my limiter, but hydro lifters have me worried. What are my options here besides going NEO head or solid lifter conversion? I'm rocking a 1.05AR turbine on my 6466. Would dropping down to a .84 help shift that power down in anyway? - We're only seeing roughly a 30kw difference at the top end with VCT on or off. Is this normal? I want to confirm VCT is working properly. - Should I look into other cam options?  - Should I just keep increasing boost and see if she wakes up later on? I would expect to hit 600rwkw around 35psi with my 6466.
