this has been covered 1000's of times but since we are here here is the fuel usage from my last couple of tanks:

465km from 56.88L --> 12.16 L/100km

423km from 52.97L --> 12.52 L/100km

I have had as high as 17 L/100km for a track day and lowest was around 11.5 L/100km when they were all highway kms. Average is around 12.6 L/100km.

On Optimax, 1995 R33 GTST with turbo back exhaust and pod filter thats it. To measure the fuel consumption I set the odometer to zero when I fill the tank then measure how much fuel it takes when I next fill up.

all i know is that i get 240km on a full tank of premium from my er34 auto, how do people get 400-450 on a tank? better/regular tuning? regular maintance? driving like your driving miss daisy?

holy shit

do u thrash the car at every traffic light?

:P

Quoting a useable fuel range doesn't give a measure of consumption or economy (depends how you calculate fuel use). JCMarshall_Law has the only reliable method for establishing fuel consumption, and it is the one I follow also.

General use I experience is 8.4-9.0 km/l, with a best of 9.4km/l, and worst 5.5km/l. Stock boost, FMIC, full 3" exhaust with split dump.

I don't drive like Miss Daisy, but do try to maximise the number of km between fills I enjoy behind the wheel.

cheers

nope im extremely sensible in my skyline :innocent: , really. i drive noramally since the fuel economy is so bad, also after the FMIC mod i did, the fuel usage has increased slightly. Im going to have to take it to get i tuned and checked out, seems to have quite a loud rattling sound coming from the right cam cover....... :werd:

I've check the spark plugs there fine however like most r34 my coil packs are on the way out so maybe a new set might fix the problem. The exhaust gas smells extremely rich, can nissan dealerships be trusted for a tune with the rb25det motor?

I get about 300-360 km per tank. So far I have replaced the O2 sensor, cleaned the injectors, put a pod filter, adjusted teh timing, regapped the spark plugs to .95. After regapping the plugs the economy is worse. I m thinking i should put it back to .8. If that does not work, i m out of ideas for the economy.

Actually I have a bleed valve sitting at about 9 psi. I know that 25DET goes into rich and retarded mode. But does it do that when you are off high boost as well, ie does it run rich ALL the time after sensing high boost?

Guys your cars all sound f**ked.

Stock my car was getting 400-450km.

With mods (240rwkw, 16psi) I get just under 400km before I refill. My last tank (freak tank) got me 460km!

Generally if I give it a lot of thrash I'll get just over 350km. Anything under 300 with normal driving and I'd be sure somethings wrong.

ive got a r32 with a rb25det also .. running 9 psi making 260 rwhp and using safc 2 to manage my fuel and air. It been tuned and im getting around 250k's on city driving.. i am suspicion of my diff gearing though.. it feels very low... but surely it couldnt be causing such a big difference in economy.

Mate,

I feel your pain, I got an er34 gtt too, but manual. If im lucky i go through around 300+ on a full tank.... Im not sure if this is a common problem with the 34's.

    • I've never played with one, but I would expect that you are correct. That slot looks like it is intended to be used to unscrew the end, and the flats on the body would be better than grabbing it around the round bit with a pipe wrench. So, yeah, probably unscrews. You'll probably have to make a tool to drive in that slot.
    • A bit late but A disk S13P fit over stock R32 GTR brakes, usually A disk front, O disk rear works.
    • Or, the height of the release bearing is not correct for your combo. Start with the bleeding and checking the slave moves throughout its range when you press the pedal (2 person required), but it is possible for the height to be internally wrong too (box back off to measure.
    • Yes, there's quite a few things that can go wrong during a clutch install. Very unlikely. I have a similar clutch. They (ACS) make good gear. No, it is not normal. It is possible that you just need to bleed the clutch slave. But the new clutch will also have a more aggressive actuation force/pressure, and so your old slave cylinder might be a bit leaky or otherwise compromised, and not up to the extra force required. Or the master cylinder, same.
    • Hi...so a "development" here aswell The swap is "done" and car went "test drive" BUT it seems the clutch(maybe gearbox?) is a little bit sad? I bought this clutch kit https://justjap.com/products/xtreme-heavy-duty-organic-clutch-flywheel-kit-nissan-skyline-r31-r32-r33-push-type "Problem" is that the first gear is hard to put into and it seems that the clutch is not disengaged. It was not the problem with the old clutch...(or like sometime the first gear would not get as easy specialy when the fluid was cold) So? Can it be like...bad "install" or is the clutch wrong ((it should not have been) i done research to get the right one) Or is this "normal" with new clutch and needs to be break in?
