Hey all!! just wanted to know if anyone here plays this? and if so could you give me some pointers on how to kill at least one person?? hehe Im crap at it

lots of practice.... i try to get at least 2-3 games in a week at least, or else i fall out of shape.

best to go practice on weak weapons, so when u pick up ones with bigger and better fire power, the emeny drop like flys.

my personal favorites to train on are the scout and pistols. at first you won't kill anyone but as you get better people respect?? a scout kill.

if it's really to hard, just train with the bots for a while, as they are really easy to kill.

what servers have you been visiting? i ususally reside in swiftgames or ozforces forums, they seem to have a good ping if you live in sydney...

cool - I practised with the bots and theyre easy, but as soon as I get on with other ppl I get owned!!! I can make a couple of kills here and there sometimes....

and Ive played it almost every night for the last 2 weeks for at least 2 hours every night!!!! hehe

whats your nicks on there??

as far as the servers go my ping usually sits at around 140 - i cant get it lower than that, i like the optusnet servers and some of the gamespace.net ones

..lots of practice..

Yep plenty of this, coz thats what the 15yr old kid on the on the other end is doing 24/ 7. Good fast internet connection & server ping helps, as well as increasing your display gamma (so you can see those chicken sh!7s camping in the dark spots).

Study your fav maps, weapons (+/-), familiarise yourself with shortcut keys (like when shopping) & purchase weapons depending on your style of game play & map sizes. For specifics do a search on the web regarding tactics, helpful tips etc.

When I use to be addicted to this game I practiced at LAN centres & the weapons of choice for me was mid-long range rifles with a scope (I'd be one of those people who'd shoot you through walls & doors) :headshot: & for very close quarters automatic shotgun.

yup, practice is king

before i got my unhealthy addiction to WoW i used to play a fair bit online and at lan with friends, always better fun with friends.

also, get ventrillo or team speak if you play with your buddies and when your on the same side its easier talking than the actual cs:s voice thing

I played from BETA 2 (Which was out in what... 1998ish?, until about Beta 5.5, then stopped 'coz i thought it was going downhill... after that, i would play each new beta for a week or so until i got sick of it 'coz i felt it lost the essence of counterstrike. Anyway, started playing source when it first came out, and now i'm back into it :D

looks like Ive got alot of practising to do then!!!! hehe

does the whole thing with the ping mean that some guy with a ping of 30 is technically hitting me with more bullets when Im on 140? does it create that much of a lag?

your ping is more like a connection rate.... the better it is the smoother the game play. on swiftgames for example i usually ping in the 20's. you will notice when some one has a high ping rate as they seem to lag. You will notice everyone else almost teleport from one place to another.

also ajust your frame rate, it healps heaps in getting a smooth game.

As mentioned before memorise the shortcuts.

and my nick is usually syntax error.

    • How dare you sell your unreliable Skyline and buy a reliable, Toyota/Yamaha car with a strong gearbox, torsen LSD and Toyota reliability. At least you won't need to worry about oil pumps, big catch can, oil restrictors, blowing off power steering belts, sheering off 3rd gear, failing ABS relays/pumps, etc.
    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
