The reason i tookt he starter out was to install a ring gear stopper. Im going to buy one 2morow. Not 100% sure how to install it though. Any tips?? By the way im locking it to undo the crank pulley bolt.. (new cam belt)

Ahh....well my 2c is that generally there are easier ways to get the bolt off than using a ring gear stopper. eg leave it in gear and have someone step on the brakes....might even be able to hold it on the handbrake.

Deren I have a tool to hold the harmonic balancer while the front bolt is undone/torqued. I'll check tomorrow to see if it fits the GTR as I made it for thr Soarer and it works ok for the RB25.

There is no way i would pull the starter off just to hold the ring gear .

There is heaps of other methods to use , like the starter , always works for me or what Duncan said but you will need a 3/4 drive socket ( 27 mm for gts and 30 mm for gtr ) and a good long bar . I wouldnt try 1/2 inch drive socket on the gtr it may break , they are very tight .

If i have the engine out i use a 3/4 " rattle gun .

Don't use a screwdriver on the ring gear you may break a tooth or 2 .

    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
    • Thank you so much for the help
    • Yes it is ATF. I quote @Duncan "it takes a good synthentic auto trans fluid like Castrol Transmax Z" It's not a diff. It's a transfer case. Totally different thing. Yes, fluid will come out the sender hole. No you do not really need to drain it. Just pull the old, quickly poke the new, clean up and top up. But realistically, you should probably take the opportunity to change it anyway.
    • Hey all. I’m looking on replacing my speed sensor on my R33 GTR. Will the center differential need to be drained, and if so, the center diff uses ATF fluid D? I found information on the transmission, front diff and rear diff. Can’t find a for sure answer for the center diff. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
