hey guys,

not sure if there is a thread on this already, and to be honest i couldn't really be bothered running a search on it.

Just installed a Kenwood 350W 2 channel into the 32 to run my 6" rears, and have noticed two things wrong that were never there before:

1. ALL speakers are running as fronts. I've kept the same wiring at the back of the headunit, and they ran properly ( 2F, 2R) before i wired up the amp. RCA's are plugged into two RCA's labelled 'F' at the back of the Pioneer head unit. The other two RCA's at the back are labelled SW, for subby i assume, so i left them alone.

2. That annoying buzzz.....frequency noise that goes with the engine.

The battery cable runs down the passenger side, and the remote and RCA cables are running down the drivers side. I've checked most of the wiring to ensure that none of it is touching metal but i can't get rid of the buzzing noise.

Any help much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

for the buzzing it could be a few things. the 2 most obvious that come to mind is

1. that by run the rca's down the drivers side thay are picking up the wiring loom. when i did my install the power cable ran down the drivers side and the rca's down the passanger.

2. the ground of the amp is picking up ground noise try grounding the amp in a diffrent location

I have my RCA's running down the passenger side, and power down the driver's side.

as for the rears running as fronts you'll need to adjust one of the SW control options. There's a lot of different settings but basically you'll need to turn SW off. (press function when the headunit is off, it should be in there).

ok guys, thanks for the replies.

I'll run the cables down opposite sides and see if there is a difference.

As for them running as fronts, i've turned off the SW option with them plugged in the (f) RCA's, should i plug them into the SW RCA's instead?

Also, i've heard that you can buy noise filters that plug up to the amp somehow - anyone know or heard of this before? Do they work?

Thanks for all the help guys.

ok you found the SW setting- good. with that setting set to full you will have rear fading.

sounds like a poineer uint to me.

if you didn't understand the above do this:

radio off acc on,hold the F key.that will bring up a menu , hit F unitil you get to the preout menu set it to full with the arrows and then F again. trun the unit on and it should be full range.

as for noise. pull the RCA cable out of the radio and listen (engine running) do you have noise? if not them the amp isn't the problem. grab a twisted pair set of RCA cables (jaycar sell them as do I, and check the cables. from there reground the radio . should get rid of the noise prob.

ok chris, thanks heaps for the help. i don't have time to do it now, so i'll do it tmrw.

One more question, and sorry if i sound like a dumbass, but should the RCA's be plugged into SW or F?

It is a pioneer head unit btw.

thanks heaps mate

I fall else fails you could try installing a sound supressor onto the amps positive line. This should remove all electrical sound interference. You can get 8 guage ones from jaycar & strathfield if you are using anything under 12 guage wire (eg if you have a proper amp wiring kit, prob 8 guage).

Its strange because most high-er market amps usually have sophisticated built in sound supressors & dont have this problem, usually occurs with the no-name 40 dolar rubbish you see at super-cheap though :uh-huh:

    • Pressure when IDLING, is meant to be 51PSi... So that amperage value needs to go up a fair chunk... I'd personally be factoring for more like 12amp at least on those runs, and at that point you need to hope the already there wiring doesn't drop you a volt or two, as that's a lot of fuel pressure flow drop off from 13.5 to 12V! Taking idle pressure of 51psi, means the pump will be drawing a MINIMUM of 9amps all the time based on your reading of the graph (3bar base, then allowing an extra 0.5bar for boost = roughly 51psi)
    • Hi all,  I am in the market for an R200 longnose diff out of a Z31 300ZX, or S12 RSX, DR30 skyline, or similar, in a 3.9 ratio.  Preferably a late model one with the M12 crownwheel bolts.  The only easy to find advert for one of these was my ad back in 2007 when I sold it on this forum.  I sold the diff as I had sold the car it goes to, but as it turns out, after 18 years I got the car back late last year, so now I'm looking for the diff !  If anyone knows where to find a longnose R200 LSD with the M12 crownwheel bolts, drop me a line at [email protected] - Bonus paid if soomeone comes up with the original diff (stranger things have happened !).  Cheers   Ben D
    • Hi everyone, I used to post here a bit from 2004-2013, when I owned various Nissans, in particular my S12 RSX gazelle, which was sold in 2007.  As luck would have it, after an 18 year hiatus, the car found its way back to me last year, and over the past 11 months I have had the pleasure of restoring it with my kids.  One thing that I am after in particular is a 3.9 ratio R200 LSD for it.  I actually sold the one out of the car here back in 2007 , and it would be incredible if I could track down who I sold it to, so I can see how they have progressed over the years (and to be honest, to see whether I can get the diff back !).  Anyways, hi all and let me know "where are the R200 Longnose diffs all at these days ?  Cheers Ben D
    • Arms will be the same as the G35 or 350Z, but as above, there was a change in the lower control arm where it connects to the ball joint.  That said, you can remove the ball joint cone from your old ball joints and fit them to the new ball joints.  To be honest, I didn't think the ball joints themselves were different. The main ball joint is a bit awkward to replace, you really need to remove the steering knuckle to press out the old one.  Some people have used tools to remove it in place, but it just seemed too hard to get to. If you are going to press out/in that ball joint, then you may as well just replace the bushings in the LCA and the compression rod.  You can buy the compression rod bushing from Nissan, but the LCA bushes, you will need to go aftermarket. Much cheaper than buying the whole arm.
    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
