Hi Guys,

Has anyone had any experience with Envy Imports? (Northern Beaches) Good or Bad. Please reply.

I bought a car off Herman and have had no bad experiences and am planning to take it back for the 100k service. If anyone has any thoughts or experiences, I'd appreciate your feedback.

Cheers,

I know there is still their workshop in brookvale. But as far as I know even imports turned into a standard car yard and now there is nothing there where their showroom was..

Ive seen Herman pull a gear box out of an R33 in 9 minutes lol..

I know of a member who has taken their car there and it's come back with half a tank of petrol gone and one less cylinder.

From speaking to one of their sales guys when they used to sell cars near the roundabout having said "ahh yeah that's a great car it goes so fast when you wind that thing, even first thing after you turn it on" I've decided I won't be dealing with them. Off course their sales people might be different, I noticed they went through a marked change since my flatmate bought his r32 there.

So on the other hand my flatmate bought a r32 there 1.5years ago and all he has had to replace is the fuel pump and clutch, which they did for him for $800 for an organic and he hasn't had any dramas at all.

The sales guys at Sydney Car Sales (used to be at big roundabout near the Fisho's club Manly) were real dodgy. I asked if one of their R32's had been used for drifting? (rear panel had been bogged up and resprayed) . He first pretended not to know what drifting was and insisted it wasn't bog but file marks and then changed his mind and said definitely not been drifted. I then said to him, you should take that drifting sticker off then, it's a dead giveaway, what sticker? he asked... um... the one that says driff in japanese...

On the other hand, like you said, I haven't had any probs at all with my car and any advice and pricing I have asked for seems reliable and good. So yeah, a little confusing and mixed. Anyone else out there?

Also, who out there is on the northern beaches?

There is a big difference between the Envy Imports workshop and their (old) car sales yard. As mentioned before, they still have cars for sale, and the workshop on Wattle Road is run by Herman. I haven't had any problems with them in the past at all and will be going back there very soon. Their website is www.envyimports.com.au

Aparently the reason they had to move out from the Caryard in manly is due to their being issue's with the owners of the building. Someone than moved in there after them - however there was leaking water from the roof and the owners weren't prepared to fix it.

Personally i've heard a number of bad reports about them from ppl that I wouldn't buy from them, however that was a little while ago so who knows..

See how you go - hopefully they'll do a good job..

dop3y, what was your bad experience with Envy? Pm me if you like.

I have had my car there for a while and have nothing but positive things to say about them. And yes, the car sales yard was not helping the name, however, the car yard and workshop are two seperate operations. The workshop is still going strong, and they do still import many cars, but the car yard is now defunct. Herman is now selling some cars from his workshop and through other yards, I believe.

Also, who out there is on the northern beaches?

I'm on the Northern Beaches...

Have any of you considered North Shore Prestige? I got my 34 through them, know quite a few people who have got their cars through them...

Question would be, any good tuners on the Northern Beaches line near Brookvale or something?

Hey,

I'm on the Northern Beaches too near Cromer.

Not sure how good these places are but there's Procar (back of Cromer High School) and Tilly's (Brookvale) Have Dyno's. I think they are pretty good.

Someone else here would probably know more. Joviant Performance, Magic Performance?

  • 2 weeks later...

the envy imports workshop does everything. the old car yard was a thirdparty group. sydney car sales.

the deal was that they got a high commision on the cars sold on the lot. herman held the lease but scs used it.

but they wernt good at selling them and the building got condemed

the yard so to speek is out of the workshop by apointment. 15/26 wattle rd.

im the mechanic there. so im always very busy. we have 40+ cars in stock at the moment.

in terms of servicing we do quite alot but im always flatout complying cars so it gets abit dificult to do both at once. plus herman is rarely available to look after customers on the spot.

im working on the orgonisation of the shop and customer service side of things.

but afterall its just herman .myself and clair the secretaty.

if you need to book a car in ask for dave. so i can arange the work accordinly

if you get a quote for a job we will beat it 9 times out of 10.

ps. we have alot of good secondhand tyres that are clogging up the workshop and would sell them cheap for cash etc 16.s 17.s 18.s

cheeres

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
