Apart from the PB's of 2rismo, Stacie, Paul etc i'd actually like to mention the efforts of Glen in his Black R33 GTS-t whom I was helping most of the day. The car only has a full exhaust, air filter and 10psi boost and we got it from 14.5@98mph down to a 13.5@100mph. That car can't be pushing more than 170rwkw and for a first days effort at a drag strip I think that's top work. I think a 13sec flat will be on the cards for the next event by the time a PowerFC and FMIC is fitted/tuned.

.

Ben, Thanks for all your help (and tyres) yesterday i had a ball. i did realise there was an art to drag racing other than just dropping the clutch at 7000rpm! I was only hoping for a flat 14, but after your handly hints i managed to get it below that. Hopefully there will be another one soon....so i can get my 60 foot time down lower than 2.2 and exceed 100MPH!

Must also say a big thanks to Adam for organising the day for us. Thanks heps mate loved it! Will be at the next one for sure (and hopefully with some new go fast bits)

That's a bloody awesome time - congrats to all involved with the car.

I actually had one run against you and I felt like I was standing still when you passed me half way down the quarter. I have to say that I now have an even greater appreciation of the raw speed of a legitimate 10sec car. That thing is a machine :D

Glad to see everyone had a good time.

Bad luck about the bearing Mirko, the fuel pump John, another pb (2) for Adrian - well done, pb's for both Stace and Paul :D, also for Moanie, Brad, Brenden, and me.

Silver and BLK, well done on your efforts. First time and you both did really well as did Mark with a pretty quick time for someone who has never been before.

BIG THANKS to Ed and Infected Flow for your help with the BBQ. That was great and certainly appreciated by the club.

I did get a pb (13.5) but not what I was hoping for. Spent more than half the day trying to figure out what my problem was. It ended up being the plastic AFM to turbo pipe sucking closed when it got hotter and softer. I got worse 60 footers than the last time with street tyres too. And then there was that random run of 13.8 with an extra 5 mph trap speed.

Oh well that's drag racing.

Thanks to all who organised....

Had a great time even though my Skyline stayed home with a nice big puddle of oil underneath it, luckily I had the missus car to use. The black WRX wagon that looked oh so out of place

Unfortuanately the piece of sh** WRX could only manage a 14.3, not too bad for a pretty standard car, but you just can't launch the thing - either bogs down or you have to slip the clutch (not very friendly)...

But great to see all the Skylines out there, next time I'll bring a real car too!!

Again, thanks to all the organisers.

Was a top day. Big thanks to the organisers, can't wait for the next one :)

Was very happy with the 11.2, now i just have to play around with a few things and get a new clutch and we'll go hunting for that 10 :)

Congrats to Stace and Paul on the 10.3 and Adrian on his new PB and a big thanks for those tyres :)

Cheers

Andrea

great day guys. nice photo of marks car doing a burnout. sweet.

BTW what times did JETT run? what about UREADY?

congratulations to all those people who races. what time did 2rismo run?

Adam, i've got a few photos of your car dude, it's just not what I classify as great photos... however, I'll be posting them up tonight, never fear :)

Mark: I've got a ton of photos of your car (> 30, all in a similar style... :) Big burnouts = great photos!

The sun was a total bitch in the morning, so people that mainly ran in the morning won't have as good photos as others unfortunately.

    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
    • This coupled with 6-9 speed autos with ridiculously short gearing is why these modern shitbox cars always seem so fast off the line. If it wasn't for those things, Raptors would not seem fast. The problem we have is there is a driveability gap between a more gentle take off and a wheelspinning sideways launch. The difference between ankle flex required to achieve one and ankle flex required to achieve the other is about 0.5°.
    • Yeah I think I'm also with the opposite here. It's 'hard to keep up with traffic' because in the real world I'm accelerating with 15% throttle and they are pinning it. It feels like I'm being an overt dickhead at anything above 15% throttle, so the car sounds like I'm being an overt dickhead to keep up with/get ahead of traffic when I'm really just trying to drive with traffic. There would be no issue 'keeping up with traffic' if we used the same level of throttle input/aggression to drive around. People really do just drive around with their foot nearly pinned in econoboxes.
    • To be fair it's the other way around. 300kw is boring in a modern Golf or BMW. They are so competent / well-engineered / devoid of emotion that you have to go stupid fast to feel anything. Whereas the <300kw RB still makes all the right noises and it feels good to drive. Can pull off at the lights with the turbo whooshing and the blow-off pssshing and feel like the coolest kid on the block. Just don't look to the side where you'll see the bored housewifes in their shitbox Yaris/Corolla/Camry that kept up because you didn't go fast at all
    • 300kW is so boring in a Skyline, you'll get spanked by someone's mum's Golf with Alibaba pipes, and an email tune.
