Hey all...

Well im on the road atleast 7-8hrs a day for work

My van is pushing 280,000km's I dont think it will last anymore...

And it would be an awesome thing to do....Putting that aside from my Other Bigger Project...

What i basically want to do is run A RB26 conversion...

Would this set up work?

motor: RB26

Gearbox: 300ZX/GTS-T/ (What would work?)

Comp: Autronic/Haltec (Wouldn't u need a computer to start from scratch including wiring)

Diff/shafts etc: What would be best?

I am so keen on eventually doing this

What are your thoughts??

Any feedback at all...

I have a factory built Nissan V6 auto Urvan.Comes with the VG30de engine from the Z31 300zx.

Only got 122rwhp but a stack of torque and we have all the manifolds etc for a single turbo conversion....

Cheers

Ken

PS $11K will buy it.

And many years ago when the Nissan factory Rally team was running ( George Fury and Ross Dunkerton ) they had 2 or 3 E20 vans with L28 straight sixes in running webers etc and a close ratio 5 speed box. The boys ( aka Pete Ryan and Jamie ) reckon it was a bitch to get the column shift to work with the 5 speed but it was never late to a service point :P.

Was funny hearing the vans coming, everyone thought the rally cars had arrived.

Cheers

Ken

The van is a Toyota Hiace, 91 model

It would prb last at least 350,000km;s

But it has been through alot of thrashing Over the years

Do you reckon The rb26 would fit in or would i need to use a sr20? etc

ive thinking about dropping a rb25det in my dads nissan urvan.

its a 2.4L 4cyl carb, but the wiring and other crap wont be an issue.

just the mounts, and its connectabilty to the gearbox.

maybe slap a lsd diff on it, as its got an open wheeler and loves to spin 1 wheel around the corners!!

steve

may i say i think the last thing we need is another death trap on the roads.

high centre of gravity - check

crap brakes - check

crap suspension - check

13inch steelies with worn re-treads - check

poor visability - check

RB26 powerplant - check

now to put myself and others on the road at risk... top idea.

now, if you are going to do it properly you would need to upgrade the brakes and tyres and 'try' to upgrade the suspension. it still would not be very safe with that kind of power though.

BTW nissan didn't build an F1 van. Renault did (as someone stated above). it's the Renault Espace F1 and that was more a people mover than a van. and it was f**king awesome... I have a couple of pics but i can't seem to attach atm.

Dude! No one said it was a Nissan!!! I said it was a Honda van. However with my old age my memory is not what it used to be, so I believe I got the manufacturers name mixed up.

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car

    • All my Polish car culture insight comes from watching Nightride. So I half expect this to get 1UZ swapped eventually?! Are you going to drive it in winter? I'm always curious how ATTESA would hold up in the snow. There isn't that much opportunity to try it in Australia.
