Is it just me, or does everyone's paint on the wiper blades (both the front and the back, but much more predominantly on the back) faded away??

I've only had my '93 R33 for almost a month now, but ever since I've had it the wiper blades' black paint has bloody almost all come off...

Does anyone know if it's just a simple home-job respray to fix it, or if something more complicated (and expensive... :D ) is required for a good finish?

Thanks.

I don't paint stuff anymore, powder coating is the go. I had mine done in mat black and they look great. Only cost about $20 and if you get other stuff done at the same time it is ususlly cheaper like radiator and battery mounts and cam covers etc. Its way cheaper than good paint and lasts longer as well.

Lads Lads Lads....Look in your Yellow pages under "Powder Coating Services" this will open a whole new world for you :( Panel shops don't do it as it is a big enough business as it is....you know all those pool fences and stuff? Thats powder coating. Its really much cheaper than paint. Just remember that there will always be a small area that is marked from where they use wire to hold it up during the process. Also powder coating is only for metal. There are some new iridescent colours available and some shops also do a alloy flake spray that can be polished to look just like alloy.

Just pull all the metal bits off your car, take to shop tell them what colours and a couple of days later they are ready. They sand blast all the parts before coating so don't worry if they are covered in oil and dirt.

OK.....NEVER powder coat you fmic / radiator. And for that matter you really shouldn't paint them either. Painting is mainly done for asthetic reasons and not for any beneficial reason. Powder coating adds a thick layer to the object and would block off all the runners in the fmic or radiator. Basically its a tuff alternative for decorativley painted objects that require a longer lasting finish.

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
