im getting all my work done there in a few weeks, rebuilt turbo, installing my intercooler, installing my power fc, installing my avcr and all tuned :()

they are top guys and thus far would HIGHLY reccommend them !!!

they are very good with the prices too, he guy doing the computer side of things (installing fc and avcr plus tuning from scratch)told me ill get change out of $800, the intercooler is costing me $500 to install and my turbo all up including rebuild is costing $2100...

i may be wrong, but im pretty stoked with these prices, please correct me if im wrong???

they said about 4 hours then maybe another 1 for cam gears, thats a damn good hourly rate.

Thinkin about doing a tuning course, costs about 1 g and I could charge others hehe

sounds good, where is this tuning course?

most places charge between 130-150(MAX) per hour to tune in nsw anyway, so a 4 hour tune would be generally around 550 and with cam gears say 700 and thats at the most... so 1000 for a tune should get u more than 4 hours if that is the tune that was quoted for $1000.

Well there is always Matty Spry, (do a search in the qld section for his number, he's on the Gold Coast). But again he is not cheap.

I have heard from lots of people that Matty really knows what he's doing. Also I have spoked with heaps of people who have had their car dyno tuned at MM, and none report anything bad.

I had my old r33 tuned there and was more than happy with the outcome, wasnt a PFC tune though, just a SAFC, but was worth it alone just for the petrol consumption saving!!

my tuner did a max power tune for about $200..

pretty good considering most places charge $500 for that :D

When I go back to get the fuel eco fixed should only take an hour or so aparantly..

So should only cost an extra $120-150 for the dyno time..

thats the problem with us up here in QLD everything is double the price of elsewhere, i got a rough idea to tune my safc at stafford tune and he was talkin around the $1100 mark

$1100 to tune an SAFC ??? !!!!

Surely you must have made a mistake?

An SAFC tune would take about 1hr and we charge approx $150.

You could just about ship the car to WA and back for the price....

That has GOT to be incorrect with the pricing :(

$1100..jesus !

We are living in the wrong state.

1. COST

$450 is the standard fee for a full retune not including adj cam gear.

2. Mods you have done (mechanical mods not stereo mods)

exhaust, fmic, exhaust cam gear, powerfc, fuel pump, bleed valve, splitfire coils

3. Where u did it

unigroup engineering sydney

4. How long it took

i am extremely happy, i have waited a long time to get a retune due to several circumstances....

the car was tuned somewhere else with the same mods previously, as was lacking power and running extremely rich. when i took it to unigroup they ran it without any changes and it pulled 155rwkw, when finished tuning peak power was 186rwkw,

the car was making more and more power over the previous tune from 3500rpm and upwards, and the range of producing power was moved from a max 6500rpm to approx 6900rpm so now pulls nearly to the redline instead of dying off.

peak power was at approx 9psi, boost was 10psi dropping to 9-9.5psi higher in the revs.

1. COST

$530 for PowerFC + Ex Camgear Install + Tune

2. Mods you have done (mechanical mods not stereo mods)

exhaust, fmic, exhaust cam gear, powerfc, ebc, pod

3. Where u did it

unigroup engineering sydney

4. How long it took

Dropped the car off at 9am, picked it up all ready to go at 5pm on the same day

Im happy with it. Very smooth all to redline. I was pretty desperate for a tune during my annual leave and Unigroup were more than happy to help. Fit me in on short notice and did everything all in one day.

Prices were very good as well for a cam gear install + tune. He said normally they might charge more, but they still charged me the orignal quoted price.

Yavuz was good at explaining what they did and what might need looking at in the future.

In the end, the car made 206rwkw on a very hot day in sydney

Will happily go back for any other mods in the future

i got a few quotes 2day for u qlders, they all said 200 an hr, and around 3 to 4 hrs to do it

how the f**k its takes sumone 4 hrs to tune a car has got me f**ked but anyway.

my mate told me today that he was speaking to a guy that got his car tuned at mecury, they fitted a fuel pump for him that didnt quite fit, so they beated out the tank to make it fit....... nice one boys!!!

1. COST

$615 incl GST for PowerFC + Walbro Fuel Pump + Boost controller (GFB Atomic manual) + Tune

2. Mods you have done (mechanical mods not stereo mods)

turbo back exhaust, rebuilt engine, rising rate reg, pod

3. Where u did it

Mercury Motorsport

4. How long it took

Dropped the car off at 7am, picked it up all ready to go at 5pm on the next day (had the car on the second day for cold start)

5. Comments

The car is 100 times better, idles smooth, does not run rich, better fuel economy. The car is on a very safe tune as standard cooler and turbo. Also can run air con without hiccups that were occuring before.

160rwkw on 10psi, well 9 if you measure it at peak power...massive improvement in the low and mid range as well.

Now its just som etim eot turn up the wick after and FMIC!!!

    • Its a 2002 vr-x four VQ25DET, silver. Coil overs, lowered, polished alloys and sport exhaust. Bit of a project, was sitting in a shed for a while but runs and drives great.
    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
