My g-tech times ..... 12.2 0-400m and 4.0 0-100 (did this twice)

Drag strip times ..... 11.9 0-400m (did this twice)

The g-tech times were done on a road surface with much less grip than the wsid surface, so i think the g-tech is fairly acurate.

Car is R32 GTR.

Some mods include:

PFC

R34 N1 Turbos

Twin plate clutch

Just brought a G-tech off e-bay and test my car it could manage 0-100 in 4.9 and 0-400m in 13.4. Who else has one of these? how acurate have you found it compared to the drag strip ect? Whats results did you get? (please include mods)

cheers

GTechs are quite repeatable and hence, if set up correctly, accurate.

Some things to consider:

The GTech will make a correction to your start time/reaction time when logging quarter mile times. It does this also for 0 - 100 runs. Check up in the manual to see how it works. If you remove the correction the 0 - 100 times will be more accurate.

If the rpm's are calculated correctly you can cross check the timing from the acceleromter with the engine revs. All you need to do is work out how many revs in second/third gear equates to 100km/h.

Best bet to help you understand what is going on is to export the data as a csv file & plot it yourself.

Lastly, set it up as level as possible & then make sure you do a calibration run.

Thanks guys. I seem to have a high MPH around 109 -110 does that sound about right for the times I am getting.

As far as I know, mph readings on a g-tech are the speed that you are doing at the end of the 400m, where as on a drag strip I think it is an average speed between a certain point on the strip (not sure where exactly, but close to the end) and the finish line. So the mph will be a bit higher on the g-tech.

Thats really really interesting, I used a Passport GTimer before and after my S-AFC (which when I got, I tuned to ~10.5psi as well). Before hand I ran a 14.0 @ 101mph (0-60mph in about 5.6s) and backed that up at the dragstrip with a 14.1 @ 103mph... poor track condition the day I raced. The GTimer btw, seems to try and give a trap speed more indicative of the strip.... I used to have a GTech, and that would give on average 4mph higher trap speeds than were realistic in my experience.

After I got the car tuned, I ran 4.9s 0-60mph and 1/4 in 13.4 @106mph on the GTimer.... and my car dynod at 190rwkw on a local dyno. As much as anything

I just thought it was quite cool how close all the results were.

Had another couple of goes last night managed 13.3's this time @ 112.8 and 111.5 MPH (im slowly getting better). My car was tuned @ 195rwkw since then ive added r32 actuator so it now holds 11psi to redline where as it used to trail off to 9psi with the bleeder. I have also added a partitioned apexi pod and a cold air feed. Would be interesting to see what its makes on a dyno now after those small changes. It is certainly very inerseting to see how similar our results are.

Munna,

Best thing about the later model GTech's is the ability to download the runs from the GTech to you computer. You can then analyse the runs & work out how to go quicker, eg launch better, change gear at certain rpm etc etc.

Do you have any files? If you want to post 'em I'm sure people would be interested.

    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
