Hi all, I'm currently driving a R33 GTS (N/A) and intended to get a RB26DETT from a R34. Do anyone of you guys know where I can do this upgrade or who can help me with this subject? By the way, approximently how much is needed for the upgrade? It's my 18 months for the R33. Thanks for all the help I can get.

Yeh u could call hyperdrive in malaga i think www.hyperdrivems.com.au or any performance workshop.

Dont take this the wrong way but i think ure wasting ure time. *shrugs* its not worth the trouble. Putting an r34 engine in a car doesnt make it an r34. Unless of course its an r34

Oh and id say ud want to be putting aside $10k at least for this conversion.

Biggest problem would be the gearbox, tailshafts, diff, suspension and brakes would all be suited to alot less powerful engine. That means you'd have to replace everything mentioned.

Smells like expensive to me...

I'm thinking of changing engine, suspension, brakes, AWD, and gearbox first. After changing the main parts, then continue with the engine upgrade.....:P Anyway, need some advice because I'm going to break all the process down (DUE TO HIGH COST) but want to know which part can be change first and which must be change along with other parts such as engine?

How bout u change ure mind and buy a GTR straight out :P It gonna be cheaper. and u will get better result.

Sure it would be interesting to see how u go. But on that note its also interesting to watch ppl set themselves on fire. :P

guys, help this bloke out. All he is doin is asking for advice. Contact hyperdrive or c-red or xspeed. They can give you an extimate, but be sitting down when they give ya estimates. Show them your serious and they will no doubt be readi to help you out. try pm gtrken and see what he has too say about it.

Im trying to help him out, i jsut dont believe that its feasible at all.

Things to consider:

Gearbox will not fit must be made to.

Diff will not be easy, there are about a million litte sensors int eh attessa diff such as lateral g sensors, diff sensors, driveshaft sensors the list goes on. While the chassis is the same the wheel base/track is different from the car those sensors are designed to be in so that going to be very interesting.

Brakes and susp are another 3-4k easy.

To top it off the car will be practically uninsurable and u will miss out on gooodies like better seats and instument clusters. It wont look like a GTR on the outside unless u make it in which case it will look like u have riced it up.

But yeh after all that if ure still keen id give the guys above a call. they are all in teh phone book or just google it

Madness, anythings possible if you have an unlimited budget

The 4wd chassis have different front chassis rails to accomodate the front drive shaft access to the front wheel hubs so add in a matter of body building. Supply of parts and fitting I dont think somewhere in the 20k area isnt far fetched. eng box clutch rear cradle brakes efi wire then body wire body mods bulk labour hrs, banannas

as for help booster and jimi giving a splash of realism should be taken as a gift, as for "not having money for gtr etc this conversion would be a "all at once" deal, one hard $ hit. Id want to be clear I wanted to do this before asking for a quote as it may take the supplier a few hrs to write up accuratley

have fun

ok siaw i will put your idea into a more understandable way...

what you want to do is put a 19 yr old young heart into a 90yr old tired body... the young heart will put stress on the rest of the body as all the other parts will not take it...

then you are saying lets change the knee caps and ankles to 19yr olds as well...

it will have problems and break later on...

at the end of the day if it was easy and cheap why wouldnt everyone be driving RB26 GTSt?

i think this is what everyone is trying to say...

also if done half proper you will never be able to sell your car...

Though it may sound like an easy process to install a massive turbo the 2 engines are not the same internally and stuff still has to be changed, no to mention the new ECU.

Im making a guestimate of around $5-7k to install a turbo properly.

I think Jimih suggesting is prolly what u will have to do if u want a turbo. The problem with any conversions or even modifications are the teething problems, alot of this stuff u cant just bolt on and needs litte extras here and there.

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
