The only difference witht he R33 S2 is it uses 1 earth for both the signal and 12v feed.

Grab a multimeter and find out which one is which, its easy.

The z32 afm wiring guide I did has been corrupted, I upload a new uncorrupted version however the forum still corrupts it. :(

With regards to the plug I popped down to the local U-Pull It parts wreckers and grabbed a plug from a VL Commodore, they are the same as the Z32 plug.

From what I can see on the loom i have lying around, the R31 (aussie) is also the same 4pin square plug.. so yeah, doesn't matter if its off a VL or R31 (prolly not pintara though as they have a different afm from what i remember)

yes i use flux cored solder also and it works fine...flux pen thats like oxy brazing and having to dip the wire in the flux before welding...messy :P

Thanks for the offer crazy_boy but i should be fine on this one...just wasnt sure what the go was with the wires but i can use a multimeter to work out earth and 12v supply cheers.

The flux pen is nothing like oxy brazing. :P

The flux pen is a pen so you simply 'draw' on both wires, so its not messy.

Pool the solder on the soldering iron touch the wires and because the wires have the flux on them its like the wires suck the solder from the soldering iron.

I noticed the R31 afm plug was the same also.

I was refering to the difference in processes...not the actual flux for wire and flux for brazing...my bad again...i assumed you would understand it from my view...i really should explain things more clearly.

-like heating up job then wire and dipping wire in flux and then brazing

-applying your flux pen to the wire then pooling the solder and letting it attach itself to the flux coated wire. both manual processes

-while just pooling solder with flux in it and letting it attach to the wire. more simpler process...but each to their own!

This is the solder I use. It has a resin core? Is that the flux?

Solder

I had some other stuff that was a little thicker and didn't melt to well with my cool soldering iron. It was supposed to have flux in it.

I had problems with the solder staying on the soldering iron and not transfering to the wire. The wire would end up having its insulation melted as the only way to get the solder on to the wire was to heat the sucker up. Even then it was still difficult.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
