Thinking of ordering myself two front rims to start of with for my r33 gtst and i am going to get rota grid r wheels. I saw another gtst running 18x9.5 +20 front. I forgot to check the inside of the guard but would this be a perfect fit and not scrub the inside lip? Was a pretty neat fit and am pretty sold on that fitment. Who runs this fitment?

it was on 225/45 rubber and nice stretch

Can anyone give me advice on tyres to fit my 10" XD9's.

Was originally gonna go 255/35/18 but it will result in a sidewall that is a bit narrower than I'd really like, and a smaller circumference than the stock wheels. Plus more $$$$.

Now thinking either 245/40R18 or 235/40R18.

Advice on those two sizes?

you don't note the car it is going on. If it is a GTR (which im assuming as that is a GTR fitment wheel) then why not get some 285's (35/18) on there?

yeah they do look good but that will rub on a gtst. how much depends on tyre size and camber etc.

what offset do you think would be good with say just standard camber and suspension, then what do you think would be the correct offset once running coilovers and playing with camber and having it set up for drift?

R33 Gts-t. More concerned about the rolling diameter (speedo accuracy) than anything. I've got 235 on at the moment and they give good traction. I'm not skimping on tyre quality.

ah, then fitment and the issues with a wheel that size on a gtst is up to you.

meh, there is nothing in it and speedos are designed to over-read the speed.

If in doubt either get the speedo adjusted or just go through/ drive with a calibrated speed sensor to work out how far off your speedo is from true speed.

you do realise that profile isn't actually a mm measurement but a percentage of the width don't you?

the difference will be less than 5mm in height between all sizes you mentioned

he isn't putting on 10 -45 or some hellaflush craze, they are +38's or something.

I thought they were around the +20 mark...?

regardless, 10" is pretty big for the front of a gtst and will need some thought work and appropriate tyre sizing.

LOL yes I know, I'm just not sure if that 5mm extra sidewall each side will make a big difference to the stretch/appearance of the tyre once mounted.

They're +38 and they're going on the back, got 9's going on the front.

well as they are ~4mm higher and 20mm wider they are definately going to look less stretched than the 235/40's

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
