Well it was better wasn't it... and proabbly with a different tuen it'll get better. How did it sound?

your right about the tune , but i wont be bothering for a while now . you see i hurt the motor . now smokey at high revs and using oil .How did it sound ? Wish i had taped it , it sounded great , nothing like the sound of a twin cam at full song , lots of induction roar and the open extractors screamin , luv it .

As for the engine , i have another rb30 block which i will freshen up and put under it .

*edit* i just found your old thred with the specs of what you did. good work. im gona probly be spending 800-1000 on my head tidying it up and replacing bent valves and getting the vvt set up to work

did you get the chance to dyno it?

thanks, and good luck with fixing it

UM I not too sure whats goin on with the engine . its not using oil , even tho it has smoked a couple of time at high revs . in fact the oil level has stayed constant in last 500 km since it last smoked . also one of the breather hoses isnt hooked up .

maybe i was being bit of an alarmist ,

this weekend am going to do a compression test .

apart from all that it seems to be going as strong as ever .

oh yeah did i tell you that i bought another skyline .

well it was cheap a 5 speed series 3 r31 WAGON , ( yeah go the wagons ) and its powder blue , nice boy colour lol

damn!!!

i wish i could find ones like that

all the ones that i see for sale are auto's and heaps of sh!t

how cheap was cheap???

$950 and has perfect body and interior , would you believe i havent seen it yet . bought it off ebay in NSW , friends down there checked it out for me. its coming up on a transporter next week .

Woah dude that looks very clean, especially the engine. What are your plans for this car?

As the body of my red wagon is reaching its use by date , will transfer the good gear across to the " NEW " blue one . It will be a sleeper , keeping it absolutely stock on the exterior , standard wheels suspension and ride hieght . Should even keep the standard hubcaps on .

you should HPC coat those extractors, get heat wrap, wrap them and after that make up a stainless heatsheild  :D

this will give you the coolest intake temps possible  :O

YEP GOOD IDEA , will probly wrap them

    • That looks good, but I think you're going to need much beefier side skirts now.
    • They are daft and there's a reason it never caught on. Steering feel? We don't need no stinking steering feel!
    • I gotta pull you up on this. It's driving me crazy. A shutter is something that closes, like over a window or in a cmera. The word you want is shudder. That LSD is clearly f**ked. Take it to a diff shop and get it disassembled and examined by an expert. YOu might have plates welded together or something equally crazy.
    • Define "starting to fail". Wy not just rebuild them?
    • Check the Nistune doco. There are a few assumptions being made here that might not be valid. I will list the things that occur to me: Base map. Base map for what? Base map for Z32? Then the cranking pulse width is probably wrong for an RB25. The extra 500cc of capacity might well be enough to prevent it from catching. Base map for RB25? I don't think you can load one of those into a Z32. You have to just make the settings correct for an RB25 in the Z32 base map. That is either K or the TIM to get the pulsewidth right. Loom. You bought a loom for an RB. And you plugged it into a Z32 ECU. Did you make sure that any iwre differences were swapped. From memory, there's at least a couple. And as per the others, I would suggest making sure that the fuel pressure is correct while cranking and that the injectors are actually flowing as expected. They really must come out and go on the bench, unless you do find that you have messed up as per above points. I would also suggest watching in Nistune to make sure that everything is reading correctly. That the correct binary flags are raised at the right time (like the crank signal), that there's no stupid values in K or TIM. That you have not got mismatched firmware for the ECU and/or a wrong image loaded.
