all I will say is I saw Neil and Duncan pulled over out the front of a bottle shop in Goulburn as we drove to our Motel.

And yeh, noises from the Conrods is always bad news :)

1/ Duncan's not a bloody idiot- he doesn't drink and drive. Neil on the other hand may have needed some courage for the trip home having seen Duncan's "driving skills" in action over the course of the weekend.

Though a drink could have been in order when Team Curseworx made another appearance on the way home. The trailer lost a wheel near Sutton Forrest - the poor thing has never been the same since that time Pete borrowed it for some reason :P

2/ No conclusions to be jumped to on the source of the engine noise until we pull it apart (again!). Pete's offer to work for beer though is sounding like a good price at the moment.

3/ We had a bloody top weekend despite all of this!! Duncan is driving really well, the car is coming together nicely and there's nothing finer than a 1-2 Skyline finish.

Pete's offer to work for beer though is sounding like a good price at the moment.

Kel,

You might want to re-think that statement. It could quite possibly work out cheaper to buy a whole new car.

Well done Duncan. Great results mate.

...Ben

haha I suck at seeing threads!

Thanks guys it was a brilliant weekend's racing and I am stoked at how we went. I posted all the details int he link nxtime posted

The knock in the engine I could do without but I guess thats racing.

Also got a few dents down either side, I think the other drivers had been playing too much gt4 rofl.

And the trailer story involves things that go bump in the night, trying to put a new wheel on 3 remaining studs with a jack that couldn't reach high enough to get the wheel on, all while trucks barrell past.

Thanks guys :D

Still don't know if I will be back in time for Eastern Creek in 3 weeks, here's hoping

Hey duncan,

Congrats, What date are you guys due to be at eastern creek?????

Keen to come out and watch.

Well the last round of the state champs are at Eastern Creek the week after next, 24-25 Sep. Unfortunately I am a no starter, with the house move I haven't even been able to find where the knock is top or bottom end :( But there will still be a couple of GTRs out there to cheer for :)

I reckon its a good question about the GTSt/GTR Ben, it always used to sh1t me everyone thinking a GTR has some sort of magic.

So first up, the real test.....I did a 1.10.9 at Wakefield in the GTST and a 1.10.2 in the GTR, both on the same tyres Dunlop DZ02G. Not much difference really is it?

The GTR is heavier by about 100kg now it has the cage in. It sits absolutely beautiful with all the springs, shock and all new bushes which my gtst never had. I guess the GTR will gain another 1/2sec once we put a tune on it and start putting out decent power so lets say it is about 1 sec quicker around Wakefield Park.

And driving them is really different considering how close chassis and the end result are. The GTR is very much a brake early, turn in late, low mid corner speed....see the exit, hit the gas and hang on with 4 wheels grabbing for traction. The GTST was much more your brake late, turn in smoothly, maximum corner speed and on the gas really early. I guess thats what you get with a heavier, more powerful car.

When I was trying to drive the GTR like a GTST I was 1-2 seconds off the pace, i had to really step back and try driving a totally different way. And I'm reckon I've got it right now, I was making good ground into and out of corners compared to the other GTR in the races. They were pulling 3-4 lengths on the straight so I need more go ;)

We will be out though with Rob's GT3, so if you are coming out come and say hello :)

Should be a good weekend for us, car is good and EC is one of Rob's favourite tracks so we are looking forward to it.

    • Will have a look at that. I cant see any leaks
    • Put another overflow bottle (ie, a 1.25 coke bottle or similar) under the overflow hose and see if it is being pushed out there or if it is disappearing into the engine.
    • Staring on a stand is no issue. You just have to wire everything up, give it fuel and cross your fingers that the stand is robust enough. Arranging the inlet plumbing is often the hardest part, without any surrounding structure to hand some of it from. No need for coolant if you only want to run it for <1 minute. As to the gearbox - I think the little Aisin box is a bit stronger than the other small Nissan boxes that went behind SRs, but I wouldn't be too keen to test its limits with the torque of a boosted 25. I don't know if you can retain the box and the tailshaft. The box won't connect to the RB without an adapter of some sort, which is either a plate that will push the engine forward (which is not good for fitting it into the bay's available space) or push the box back, which messes with the box position and tailshaft length - OR - cut and shut work on the bellhousing, which is a long way from "least modification". I'd be buying a new 370Z 6 speed or similar, doing what has to be done to that to make it fit RB (ie, cut and shut bellhousing) and the requisite tailshaft custom/mods.
    • Hi Everyone I am from West Pennant Hills in NSW. Been too busy until recently to attend to my RB25DET Series 2 engine until recently. I am planning to stick it into the S15 shell at this stage, unless a nice SR20DET turns up... For now, i am going to try and get the RB25 running and working well then decide what gearbox to use. My preference is to retain the SR20DET  6 speed gearbox and tail shaft to retain as much and least modifications as i can avoid. I am an old guy and won't be doing any heavy drifting so i don't need a bullet proof gearbox Does anyone have experience with starting the RB on a stand? I got everything setup as much as I can with the info i can find... endless searching and videos on Youtube I would be great to get some pointers Cheers Songo
    • Hey all, Recently have had my s1 r33 gtr serviced and noticed my coolant reservoir was topped up to the max line. Took the car out for 1 yesterday and noticed today the reservoir is completely empty.  Any ideas? Radiator is full
