Hi I have been looking at upgrading my turbo with something that will just bolt straight on. I am looking for around 260rwkw. But I want to keep the lag right down to a minimum I have been looking at a Trust TD05 18g. I just want to no if anyone else has used these turbos before or no of anyone who has and what results they have had.

My car is a R34 skyline

thanx

No way on earth it will make 260rwkws. It should be responsive though as its a pretty small turbo.

This is a guess, but std EVOs use to come with turbos from the TD05 series... for that power a TD06-20G is more the go, though im yet to see a T3 flanged internal gate one make that sort of power.

General consensus is a 2535 or a GT-RS is the better avenue to pursue, or try reading bullant_47s thread in forced induciton on the GCG Hi-Flow with VG30 rear housing

Evo Turbo's up to EVO III are TD05 16G.

the newer EVO's have been using something else.

I had a 16G on my VR4.

it was pretty responsive on the 2L.. I'd say 1bar boost by 3500rpm in somparison to the stock turbo (which is a td05 14B) makes 1Bar by 2900 I think

TD05 on an RB20 sounds like a winner.

TD06-20G is pretty good balance between response, a reasonable power figure at sane boost, and the good old turbo kick/feel....on an RB20 that is.

Even on an RB25 where it should be able to punch out 260-270rwkws, i would be surprised if on an RB25 a GT-Rs or GCG Hi FLow could match it for response and power...

^^^^^^^

So it I able to make the sort of power that I am after then.

how responsive was it?

Was it nice to drive?

I just want it for drifting so i want minimum lag that is why I was going for the smaller turbo over the bigger.

I have a mate that has a TD06 25g and it is to lagy for what I would like. I have been also told that their I a guy over in Victoria with a GTT with the same set up as mine and he is producing 270rwkw on 1.2bar.

Here's the Boost Graph - It made 1.2bar by 3200rpm and held that til 5000rpm before slowly dropping back and holding 1.0bar by 6350rpm til 7250rpm

Ignore the spiral effect - the operator over-boosted it at 1st

That was with a completely standard head/cams etc just lots of bolt on bits. I was aiming for Tomei 260' Cams and Pulleys for even more poke.

It was fantastic to drive - good off boost preformance too.

    • First time visitor and currently getting ready to start work on my HK Premier.  Its all stock, 186 with 3 on the tree.  The only mod i have right now is extractors.  I am hoping to get some guidance on slightly modifying the engine to bring a little more power. Just going for a nice, comfortable cruiser.  The car is very straight, however i have been out of the country for 20 years and its been gathering dust at a family farm.  Will be doing quite a bit of body work to cut out some small rust areas (frnt quarter panels and a few other small bits) and fix up the paint.  Will be redoing the interior (its currently black and the seats are in real need of recovering and respringing the driver side (its front bench seat).  The dash needs a little TLC, but no real damage.  As my heater has degraded I am considering fitting something after-market that will be both heater/AC (recommendations here are always welcome). Wanting something discrete that will allow me to use the same controls and not be obvious once inside the car.   For the engine, i have been told i could consider upgrading my cam (imagine i would need a new head as well) and putting a new carby (currently the original stromberg).  However not sure what is going to be the best route.  Would certainly welcome any comments/suggestions.  As  a final step I am looking at changing the wheels. Current hubcaps are in dire need of refurbishment or replacement (imagine its a bit like hens teeth).  Thinking of some clean/classic looking mags (7-inch should be more than enough - not going for a large change in look).  Welcome any comments/advice and of course any questions.
    • I got the ARC M079 due to the space constraint.  Been running mint for the last 3 years.  Plazmaman also seems like a really solid choice but not used myself.    Hunt around for a better price but this is what I have - https://www.rhdjapan.com/arc-brazing-intercooler-smic-m079-bnr32.html
    • Wanted to follow up on this. Did you end up getting the M073? Still deciding on what to get between nismo m073-79 and plazaman.
