Is there any diffence between a 1999 mdl and a 2000mdl v spec or are they the same besides on being newer? I know the 2001 is a vspec 2 and i know the differences there but unsure about 1999 and 2000mdl vspec's.

Same , as long as it is not a late model 00 ( series II)

are there any differences/updates made on a year basis?

i.e. '99 34 GTR Vspec comapred to an '02 34 GTR Vspec?

Newer engine I guess.

All V-Spec's should be the same (Factory Stock) unless the owner(s) modified it.

The M in M-spec stands for Mizuno.. the nissan guy who wanted softer suspension like Euro sports cars

Dunno how I know that

M spec , stands for Man spec, basically meaning its the more manly of the 2 between a nur/m spec ... as it comes with heated leather seats and a few other bits and pieces which are aimed more for a man...rather then a boy (racer)....

can anyone confirm that there is a difference in dimension between the radiators on the series 1 and 2 cars? with the series 2 being shorter (and why? is there something mounted beneath them?), looking at aftermarket radiators there is usually 2 listed for the R34 GTR

I have seen 99-00 model R34 GTR's for about $45- $50 000 and 2001 model V Spec II's for around $65 -70 000.

After reading this thread, why would anybody pay so much for a car that does not have that many significant differences?

Although it is a newer car it seems to be a massive price difference.

can anyone justify this or am i just being a tight arse?

what you are seeing isn't what they are changing hands at. I've seen two stock & good looking v-spec IIs

listed at 59k, so, less with haggling. Basically the current market price here is based

off whatever the current japanese auction market is shifting them at, and that has fallen with the R35

and the aussie dollar buys more as well.

this sucks for local owners trying to convert their car back to cash but shouldn't matter so much

if you sell to buy another 6 year old car!

wrong! buddy!

there are a fair few differences..............

you probably didnt get his questions....he said updates on a yearly basis....

these are the differenes i can think on of the top of my head....

*Later models have different paint in the engine bay

*later models have black interior instead of grey like the earlier ones.

*the headlight housing is darker than the earlier ones.

*the later model R34 GT-R has a metal sheeting over the ECU

*later models have different mirror adjusting knob than the earlier ones

*Color of shift pannel are differrent

*Color of front and side market lens, early ones are yellow and later ones are white.

*different pedals

*type of radiator is different between year models

*bigger rear rotor on the later ones

*different "nissan" badge on boot/trunk in the year models

*different available std color (stopped few colors on the older one and added some new colors for the later models)

*engine oil cap changed back to R33 clicking type (not all)

*Engine number changed from start of 0 to 7 and type of font used to stamp numbers have changed but this happened some where in year 2002 (I think when nur started manufacturing)

so as you can see there are heaps!

remember than mOSt car models vary within years

"

they are the main differences

i know theres more

but i just cant remmeber

Not so the series II 34's have slightly bigger ( about 20mm bigger) rear rotors and slightly thicker too , the calipers are the same though.

Not so the boot trim is still there on the series II , however most sII that i have seen dont have the wiper motor cover but i did see 2 in japan that had it and they were both early S II , late 2000 mods .

You are correct that they have clear front and side indicators though .

All models have the handle above the window .

yeah

as you can see i posted pretty much all the differences between the models of "GTR"

cause all the bullshit you read online ..the differences between v-spec and non-v-spec, differences in N1 & nur.....and shit

is MASS printed all over the web...blah blah "carbon fibre bonnet....", attessa pro 2................

sick of reading all that crap

sometimes people want to know the itty gritty bits that changed...

another e.g is the toyota supra...the later models have darker headlights....darker tailghts....slightly different intrument cluster & different clock.

all good champ....

i thought i might add that because to me ...thats important...

im the type of guy who is very particular with things.. a perfectionist....

for e.g if i had an earlier GTR R34 and it had yellow indicators, where the later ones have white........id feel like shit, i wont be able to sleep. LOL

just like the supra i had......since the later model had darker tailights and darker headlights...and a red side marker at the rear that lit up when the parkers are ON...which indicates its a late model.....

i would either get all those upgraded... OR....id SELL the car to get all that

LOL

or if my ealier model R34 GTR does not have a sheet metal over the ECU like later ones....im not content

even if it doesnt do anything.....

lol

thats just me

GTR = Gran Turismo Racer

V spec = Victory

RB26Dett= 2.6L Double over head Cam, Electronic Fuel Injection, Twin Turbo

and what does GTS-T stand for?

and GT-T?

all i know is that GST stands for "Goods and Services Tax" lol

maybe thats what inspired Nissan to name these UNHOLY non-GT-R........ things.!

    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
    • You have a knack for photography my friend. It makes the 86 look like a complete bucket. The 34 went with you to Europe and back. It's special. (we all feel the same about our 'shitboxes' that every bystander seems to absolutely love)
