Mercedes and BMW have announced that their future flagship models will include a night vision system to improve visibility at night. The system is infra red based, so warm objects (such as people and animals) will theoretically be clearly visible from great distances.

What do people think? Will it prevet crashes and save lives? Or will it be just another distraction for the driver?

think both.... it would be good to identify objects easier in the nite, but the con i think would be that since its an electronic device, wouldnt it "lag" abit b4 the it comes on the visual for the driver to see and also the screen quality must be quite good since its quite a small screen....

also another project for them in car entertainment tweakers to play with... mb ill watch the game whilst im behind the wheel ey?

that is waaaaaaay cool!!! a better version i saw was a HUD style in a new honda (I think), not that we'd see it here for a few years.

That would be absolutely priceless for living out here, you'd spot roo's a mile away! wonder how long before there are aftermarket versions on ebay lol. I think the lag would be negligable. basically the same as night vision on a video camera, all it does is sees a slightly different colour spectrum. I want one!

It wouldnt lag, i mean the systems that are in most military vehicles are electronic, they sure dont lag, if they did a helicopter pliot might find themself in a mountain before they saw it coming....

I think its a good idea, 5 years time from now they'll probablly be in every commodore and falcon.

honda has been advertising this stuff on their ads for months!

you don't get "lag" with a system like this. I have Infrared CCTV cameras around my house and its instant :)

Hondas ones are infrared/heat sensitive, ie. all monotoned and green in looks.

But yeah, these would be good for coppers also, as he can cruise around and knows who's been canning their cars, and they days of hidding in the dark are over, lol. not that I encourage doing a runner.haha.

thats all we need. cops being allowed to get people for speeding/thrashing their car, using their judgement on how hot a car should be...

they already have this in Hummers apparently in the states. Ive seen this a few times on TV and stuff and as for lag i dont think there would be much. take a video camera for example, its instant you know wat i mean. and like, technology these days...i would say its more likely to predict the future than lag lol

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
