THe car is a 98 GTT, done 40,000k's , its stock and i can get it onroad for $35k.

Does this seem reasonable? ive seen the car and it appears in top condition but i want to cover all my bases b4 buying. Then i have to deal with selling my R33 lol.

well id say the same as any stock R34...

well imported they range from 27k+ that includes compliance... so lets say you get one for 30k landed and complied... by the time you rego it, pay for the duty to rego it and clean it up its probably better off going for one u can go look at... test drive... get inspected etc.

i reckon you should go for it

well the car is 34900 but the guy wants to get rid of it quickly and its already been complied so on road including rego and stamp duty is $35k, which i think is a pretty good deal.

And it is stock except for the Tein suspension and a few Nismo exterior additions, like indicator covers and i think a Nismo kit, altho im not sure if that kit is stock.

34's rust around the stop light in the bootlid so check for that....look for tape off's around the door apature, window moulds and boot apature for history on refinishing....also look for jaw marks on the sill/floorpan lap join for any history of the car being pulled about on a pulling rack or bench.Check door aparture to inner panel for original spot welds(you will need to slide up the pinch weld to check that)also check the radiator support panel/back panel for original spotwelds and might as well have a good look at the chassis rails/floor for any signs of meddleing...all this stuff is very easy to check without the need of any tools....i have looked at many cars for people checking all these things and within 5 minutes tell wether to look further or to walk....usually the latter!Goodluck!

yep, Troy went over my car like that... and i got the rust around the stop light... but as far as i can remember, didn't have problems with the other stuff ;) Lucky i guess. I imported.

and what troy just put up should be your basic check for ANY car guys not just an R34 (apart from the R34 tail lights bit altho a lot of cars tend to rust around the rear lights as a lot of water gets trapped in those areas running off the boot wells)

you will lose quite a few thousand on it if you hold onto it for a couple of years, as quite a few R34 are now coming into the country right now. In 4 years or so they will be like R33's..

I'd beat him down a few $k

Also, if i buy the car, i apparently get a holiday anywhere in Oz to the value of 3k. I dont really want the holiday and i was thinking to try and get the price of the holiday knocked off the car lol.

Ill do an inspection of the car again when i go down on wed. the only things i noticed when i saw it last was a sort of deep scratch in the top part of the boot on the outside..the car looked good, but i was told it hasnt been cut and polished yet and it will look better, so when thats done it will prob get most of the scratch out, but its not totally removable..that was my only concern, plus some of the steering wheel leather has worn away and u can see the foam underneath.

But apart from those the car is in top condition.

Oh and it has a GTR trim on the inside.

    • What copper washer do you guys use on the bleeder bolts? The existing one I have I had no idea where to find it in a local store, I did buy some online but that are only 1mm thick whereas my old one is 2mm+ thick and when I put the new washer out and squeeze the top radiator hose I can hear a bit of air but not with the old one. Does this matter? The new one doesn't leak, but the inner diameter is a bit loose whereas the old one threads on the bolt.
    • Howdy all, after being out a few weeks ago on a spirited drive in my GTR I have 2 issues that oddly have appeared at the same time. Whilst accelerating quickly through the gears all of a sudden i’ve lost power at the top of third gear (below redline around 6000rpm) for no obvious reason.    From that point onwards the car has been running rich on idle, won’t really rev under load without a ton of black smoke and the odd backfire, and dying as a pull up to a set of lights unless I keep the revs up around 1500rpm. In addition when shutting down the car that same night (I was 10 minutes from home) I noticed one of the turbos was significantly noisy on wind down when shutting off the engine. After letting the car cool down overnight it starts up fine, although once it gets to temp the revs start to creep up and down, the exhaust is darker than it should be and it also sounds like it’s running rich (fat note) I’ve put a new set of plugs in it - no change, the old plugs all seemed OK with two of them being somewhat richer/fueled up than the other 3 with 1 being borderline. I’ve smoked tested the intake system via the front of the Turbos, found a split vacuum hose going to the factory boost gauge sender, which I have since replaced.  Also found another leak on the gasket coming off the rear turbo outlet, have also replaced this. After fixing both of these leaks - still have the running rich issue. I’ve also tried another pair of AFM’s - no change here After pulling off the front turbo intake pipes, there is obvious shaft play in the front turbo, which now hisses loudly on light revvs although I can’t see why this would make the car run funny even under idle. I’m curious to know why it’s running rich before I potentially replace/rebuild turbos. The car is completely stock <50,000kms  other than an exhaust. Oil and coolant are all clear. I haven’t bothered with coil packs as it looks like they won’t be the issue due to condition of the plugs. Any help appreciated as I cry myself to sleep!
    • No probs at all. I used to love trying to dig up obscure info for those in need where possible going back 20+ years on SAU.  I did have another look and couldn't come up with any closer match. I'm leaning towards those skirts in your first pic are custom fitments, cut down/extended or from another car entirely and modded to fit an R34 sedan. I would've thought someone in Japan had them and taken a photo at some stage over the last 2 decades but there's nothing. Someone out there must know surely.
    • Welcome mate. Any pics? Even with a DE I'd be well happy if I had that as a 1st car.
