Fri 14&29th Oct Drive Day, At The Creek $120

Recommended Posts

yep, it was a nice day. Neil I though i saw your car there, as i rocked up i saw/heard this little rotor powered Sports Sedan cruise along the pit apron (i was on the other side of the garages so only caught a glimpse). maybe your missus was out for a day of fun without you?? can you account for your cars whereabouts on friday?

my friends timed me for a few sessions but i wasn't really happy at all with the tyre grip or the brakes and the missfire was sh1tting me too. but i still was a second or 2 quicker than last time, which was a little bit pleasing considering how 'green' the track was and how much traffic we were driving through. certainly plenty of passing going on and i was very impressed with Aaron on his first day at the creek, good to see some experimentation with using different gears and braking points paying off.

i had a great day!!! thanks richard and paul for all the tips they really paid off! besides running out of brakes and distroying my tyres i was very happy with how my car held up.

very keen for another day but not to sure about a saturday though

damn that sucks normally Eastern Creek is pretty safe from a low speed off, I guess you visited the same place as roy, outside of turn 9 (hairpin coming down the hill?). Hope its easy enough to fix :(

Ouch yogi hope the cars okay. Bloody wet grass wouldn't have helped either.

Beer Baron,,,I wonder if Mel's been holding out on me and has a spare gearbox hiding in the dogs kennel.

N1GTR,,,cams has a turn around of 6 days on licencing so you will have in time.

Neil.

Yogi came off between 4 & 5, it happened right in front of aaron and myself. He drifted out wide on the exit of 4 and attempted to re-gain the line into 5, keeped the power on a little long and over steered off the track into the tyre wall. Baddly worn tyres were the contributing factor I think.

Yogi, let usknow how the repairs go.

Dog box in the dog kennel perhaps? makes sense to me!

oh, on the grass note they have been tidying the track up for the A1 GP and have laid bits of astro turf on the outside of some of the turns which is nice. bit more room there for those 'OMG i'm running wide at the exit' moments. grips better than the concrete bits too i reckon.

Ahh yeah I had a similar event there one day but was lucky enough not to keep it off the wall.

so you did hit the wall? and that was lucky? i'm confused :)

yogi btw mate if you are looking at somewhere to get your car fixed try sydney central smash. they have done top work on 2 of my cars and many of my friends cars.

Speak to Tony, 9319 6044 feel free to tell him i reccomended you go there. it will make him feel all warm and fuzzy no doubt :P

cool what time is it on til and how much does it cost to watch?

EC don't charge specs on track days buddy,,,not like that crap-hole oran park. You gotta love the ARDC. Make sure you pop into my garage and say hello. It won't be hard to find me,,,I'll be in the noisey rotor powered Capri.

Neil.

    • would a r34 gtr hood line up with gt/gtt stock fenders? after latch, front bumper and hinges are swapped for gtr ones? or would the fenders be too low or high in relation to the hood surface? ( I believe seeing somewhere that gtr front fenders use some type of riser for the sides, but do not know how that relates to stock gt/gtt fenders.)
    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
