I'm considering upgrading my R33 GTS T sedan to an R34 G TT sedan. Problem is I'm worried I won't be as satisfied with the R34. I have not seen an R34 sedan in the flesh yet but I'm planning to find one somewhere in Sydney over the next 2 weeks. Couple of questions for U out there.

Does an R34 have more potential than a R33 with basic mods ???

(Exhaust, pod filter and partition, increased boost).

Does the R34 have a better turbo ??? What is the safe limit in terms of psi U can push the turbo on a R34 (With a fuel cut defender installed) ????

Is there a kit available so you can put a 200SX 6 speed behind a RB25DET R34 ?????

Keep in mind the 34 will be heavier than a 33.

34 would have a fresher motor, has NEO...how much potential in this case depends on how deep your pockets are.

34 has a poly-nylon (plastic?) compressor instead of ceramic that the 33 has. I think general concensus from 34 owners on a safe level would be 12psi...although 1bar on street use is ok. Track work you'd be best to dial it to more like 8psi.

Why would you want to put a 6speed from the 200 up to the RB?

They are fragile boxes when it comes to taking power. Stick with the stock box until you break it.

In stock form the GT-T has been running quite fast at the drags, they seem to have a good amount of power. Potential on these haven't really been tested too much here in Oz, but I know of a few people starting to use them for track-use, so they must have potential.

Wouldn't bother with the 200SX box, and keep boost to about 12psi, it is inefficient above this and will actually reduce power, we tested it on a dyno.

so you reckon past 12 is not worth the bother nor the risk?

was this on stock cooler?

Cheers.

Nah, this was with aftermarket cooler. Most turbos have a best boost that they produce effieciently. If you push past this point then they make more boost but they also produce lots of heat, which means that the power ends up being reduced. 12psi is enough, the car is getting low 13's on this setup, without any mods other than exhaust and cooler, no bad for a stocker.

ed,

Yeah it is possible, this guy only has 208rwhp, which is just a bit more than stock, but it is just the right amount to get to the floor without lighting the rear tyres.

Launches are all important, improved my time by .5sec just by learning to do it properly, still more room for improvement.

wow, I gotta get new tyres. I got 235 Ziex and they S*&K...

All I gotta do is just put my foot down and the back squirms in the dry with TCS ON! :P

Might see if I can get some 255 FM901's on there :P

Yah, I'm still learning how to launch :P

I found 2,000RPM was the best for launching with my current tyres! :uh-huh:

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
