Duncan & SK,

As promised i've spent a bit of time at the track, made some forced changes to the car and now have some questions about a particular handling trait i have with the car, and whether the GB will sort this out.

Changes include some birthday presents: front, rear and b-pilar braces. And some forced changes: new turbos.

Firstly compared to other cars I've owned I'm being extremely picky, but I find that in tight corners (ie hairpin onto straight at wakefield) from mid corner through to the exit I find the car rocking front to back with power down. I know it sounds odd but it hinders me really ripping it out of a corner. I didn't have any rear wheel slip and thus didn't notice any torque transfer to the front. The tyres (RE55s) really held up well.

Just wondering if a modified GB (aggressive setup for track) will remove this? Actually what is this problem caused by? Did the braces make it to stiff? Power delivery from the new huffers is up and corner entry speeds are up to.

Thanks for your help in advance,

Andrew

Hi Andrew, diagonal pitching is usually damper related, although insufficient anti roll makes it worse. I can guarantee you won't get either of those traits with the Group Buy kit installed.

:D cheers :)

SK, great stuff.

Just wondering if there is anything I should get differently to the GB considering I want to set it up purely for track use. Oh are the rear Bilsteins in stock?

cheers,

Andrew

Hi Andrew, you may want to consider the Eibach springs and Bilstein coil over conversion, cost is around $900 more. With that option I can choose the spring rates specifically for you, Eibach have coils in 25lbs/inch increments. Best to take this to PM from here.

Hi Dominic, refer above, Eibach springs and the Bilstein coil over conversion. That way we can choose the spring rates to suite. Let me know (via PM) the car specification and the tyres you are using and we can go from there.

:P cheers :(

Hi guys, my inbox is filling up faster than I can respond to the PM’s. I usually get 30 to 40 PM’s a day. With the current delay in delivery, that has increased to 40 to 50 per day and I just can’t keep up with that sort of volume. Particularly as some of the more technical PM’s take 10 to 15 minutes each to reply to and my available time has decreased dramatically for reasons which will become obvious shortly.

I feel that I need to “broadcast” a Group Buy update until I can clear the backlog of PM’s. Here is the current situation;

1. A little back ground first. As you may be aware Redranger and Whiteline merged a couple of months ago. The first step was a merger of Sales, Marketing and Distribution functions and Whiteline’s Minto premises were simply not large enough to accommodate this. So the premises adjacent to Redranger at Somersby were acquired and that was utilised for the larger, merged entity. Some people have taken this as a sign that Redranger “took over” Whiteline, when that is in fact not the case, it is a true merger.

The Whiteline manufacturing premises at Minto remain. More news on that shortly.

2. How this affects the Group Buys. Many of the products that I specified for the Group Buy Kits are unique, it is what makes the kits “work” better than any other Skyline suspension update. This uniqueness has been possible because of my knowledge of the systems within Whiteline (plus Bilstein, of course). The Redranger merger has disrupted that system and the “unique” (to the Group Buy) parts have not been flowing through as they had previously.

3. The good news. I have been working 14 hours a day, every day, for the last week, including yesterday (Saturday) helping to clear that backlog of orders. As a result, all of the Group Buy orders should be delivered this week. At this point I can’t tell you what day your individual order will be delivered. But as they flow through the system I will inform you of the con note numbers as soon as they are issued (the normal system).

In conclusion, I know you probably don’t care about the reasons, you just want your stuff and that is totally understandable. But I felt I had to give some background and let you know that I am working on clearing the backlog (personally as it happens) so that we can return to our previous prompt responses. Please hang off on the PM’s, I promise you that I haven’t skipped off to Brazil with your money. That your stuff will be delivered very shortly.

:) Cheers :(

Had been hearing rumors of this merger definitly is true then,

So is there still the possibility of NEW group buys or is this one no longer available due to new/different management

Would like to get in on this if still available

They merger doesn't affect the Group Buy, it is done via Jamex who are Redranger reseller. The only issue was the delay in supply, which is now overcome, with 10 kits being delivered this week.

 cheers

Hi Gary,

I currently have nismo s tune coilovers

Will the kit provide everything to bolt up and replace the nismos?

thought i remember there being a problem with the strut tops? but cant find anything about it.

Cheers,

matt.

In the same boat Matt31 from what Sydneykid told me

"The kits are designed to be used with the standard strut tops, I have a few sets of fronts, but no rears. You can pick them up from the import wreckers or on the 'for sale" forum."

Don't think its going to be a huge issue and if you wanna sell your Nismo bits you will get a better price if they are complete anyway know whatImean

Hope that helped

    • For these last 7 years of ownership, I've always had to use a small scissor jack under one of the front tow hooks to raise the front just enough so my low-profile jack fits under to reach my subframe jack point. I'm beginning to get annoyed of always having to do this. Are there any lower low-profile jacks that fit under the gtr lip on a dropped car?
    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
