Still think the popping and crackling on overun plus the fuel smeel is the AFM giving an incorrect signal.

It probably has to die more b4 it codes or the wiring going to it could be at fault.

Ken, I didn't see your name on Lauren, free game:p

Micko, Anything which will allow you to view the main sensors has got to be of benefit, sometimes a worn wire will cause noise on the signal which will cause this sort of strange behaviour.

Crackling - I'll give ya crackling...

When I got home I was listening to the idle whilst cooling down the turbos. I revved the engine a got an awesome ass explosion out of the thing - missus came out to see what had happened!!! Reckon that one would have been good for some flamage:)

Ahh ya bast*rd , was counting the posts and you pipped me for top of page.

The reason I have taken so long is the 8 pages of you trying to con Niz into coming over and/or coming across.

Bad Paul:D

As I said Micko , you could try Eddie Wong if Jerry is unavaliable.

Ring me for his number , I think I have it somewhere.

Micko, If Ken thinks it's AFM related, which sounds likely, have you traced the wiring back etc, how about an oscilloscope to view the signal?

See'ya:burnout:

Yea , was thinking that but have absolutely NFI where to start on that.

Thats why I suggested Eddie Wong cos thats what he uses.

Why pauly are you a sine wave expert

To me if a wire has more than one end , I'm buggered.lol

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
