Hey,

My car had no front mount, yea I think I know which car you're talking about, he has 18 inch advantek type rims and an after market intercooler on it, it is a rare one. The owner of that car knows my car, he's seen it at Noble park maccas. So i dont think that was my car.

hmm so havin third property fire n theft cover anything, if your car is stolen??

Mid nite, im prayin for ya man, that you will find your car soon..

Police get back too you yet??

Hey,

Well third party fire and theft covers theft up to $5000 usually, so after you would pay the excess of about $2000 u'd have $3000 given to u.

Man police don't do anything, even when i came up to them with a lead, they basically told me they cant help me, they have no time to chase up the details of wat i told them, and dissmisevly told me that it wasn't my car that i had in mind without properly checking, basically speaking from their experience. So they just leave it to chance. I was even hanged up on once. Sux ey??

Anyone know how to change the title of my thread when it appears in the "view new posts" section? I wanna change the "$500 reward" bit.

Thanks

HMm so basically dependin on which insurance company you with, all you get is about 5000 bucks?? Is that it??

I think i should go with full insurance.. But thats like 2k a year.. I wonder if i can pay in quaretly parts..

HMM Mid_nite, complain to someone in charge that when you called, someone hanged up on you.. Its not your fault, someone stole your car, so why should you be punished esp bysomeone (cops) you are there to actually help you and find your car...

I reckon keep going into the police station each day.. I dont care if they get sick of it, ITS YOUR DAMM CAR MAN!!! Do whateva it takes to find it!!!

but keep your head up man, you will find it..

Exact same situation here. My 180 was stolen Monday morning, i called the cops at 9.30am, they rocked up at 4.45pm, stayed for 5 mins then left. They aren't interested in any of the footage or leads I have. They take 2 mins to pull you over and defect you, but aren't willing to help you when it counts.

Anyways man I know how it feels, so hope you find your car soon.

guys instead of whinging about it here you should go and make a complaint about the officers you dealt with, I can find out the best way to make a complaint, if you like. You won't achieve much by just posting about it.

I understand what its like to have a complaint dismissed and looked at in disbelief and whatever else.

Best of luck to you both, am keeping a look out and been driving around the area alot lately.

I've tried all that, Epping Police Station are slack as. They just say something along the lines of "your compliant has been noted and will be forwarded"

To make things worse, the police officer that was handling my case is on leave for 2 days, so my car was stolen on Monday Morning and now they're telling me that I have to give any information I get to THAT particular police officer, because HE is handling the case, the best they can do is forward it to him on THURSDAY. By then, the car will be stripped and destroyed.

So Im not really just whinging, I'm just making a public comment.

Ali.

I know exactly how u feel man, I have the same issue, the officer handling my case is never there when I come in and when i pass a message on I never get a phone call from him. Its like WTF are we paying in our taxes for ? They way they handled me and not try to help me at ALL makes me feel like Im living in the shittest country in the world. Making a complaint won't make any difference to me at this stage, it doesn't help so I dont bother.

hey IOWNU, was you 180 stolen on monday 2 days ago?? PM me the details and pics so I can look out for u too...

When u click "edit" on the original thread u can only alter the main text of it, can't change the " R33 S2 Stolen, $500 reward!PLEASE HELP" bit...:D

might seem a bit harsh, but i dont you will see the car unless it has been gutted and dumped :P Like i said before, keep an eye out on ebay/trading post or any other for sales things for parts from an RB25DET and you might catch them out.

May the bastards rot in hell.

hmm you should be able to dude.. Have a look closely!!

What type of alarm did u have on your car midnite??

look man your car is gone.

They probably wont be stupid enough to advertise it on trading post or anything like that.

Most likely the car has been stripped down or taken interstate. Your only chances of getting it back is if the car is being driven around and they get pulled over by the cops and they discover its stolen. If its being stripped which is much more likely then you have jack shit chance of getting anything back.

Its unfortunate but you will learn the lesson the hard way - always have comprehensive insurance and make sure your car has an immobiliser.

Good luck.

    • Did this end up working? Did you take some pictures?
    • And finally, the front lower mount. It was doubly weird. Firstly, the lower mount is held in with a bracket that has 3 bolts (it also acts as the steering lock stop), and then a nut on the shock lower mount itself. So, remove the 3x 14mm head bolts , then the 17mm nut that holds the shock in. From there, you can't actually remove the shock from the lower mount bolt (took me a while to work that out....) Sadly I don't have a pic of the other side, but the swaybar mounts to the same bolt that holds the shock in. You need to push that swaybar mount/bolt back so the shock can be pulled out past the lower control arm.  In this pic you can see the bolt partly pushed back, but it had to go further than that to release the shock. Once the shock is out, putting the new one in is "reverse of disassembly". Put the top of the shock through at least one hole and put a nut on loosely to hold it in place. Put the lower end in place and push the swaybar mount / shock bolt back in place, then loosely attach the other 2 top nuts. Bolt the bracket back in place with the 14mm head bolts and finally put the nut onto the lower bolt. Done....you have new suspension on your v37!
    • And now to the front.  No pics of the 3 nuts holding the front struts on, they are easy to spot. Undo 2 and leave the closest one on loosely. Underneath we have to deal with the wiring again, but this time its worse because the plug is behind the guard liner. You'll have to decide how much of the guard liner to remove, I undid the lower liner's top, inside and lower clips, but didn't pull it full off the guard. Same issue undoing the plug as at the rear, you need to firmly push the release clip from below while equally firmly gripping the plug body and pulling it out of  the socket. I used my fancy electrical disconnect pliers to get in there There is also one clip for the wiring, unlike at the rear I could not get behind it so just had to lever it up and out.....not in great condition to re-use in future.
    • Onto the rear lower shock mount. It's worth starting with a decent degrease to remove 10+ years of road grime, and perhaps also spray a penetrating oil on the shock lower nut. Don't forget to include the shock wiring and plug in the clean.... Deal with the wiring first; you need to release 2 clips where the wiring goes into the bracket (use long nose pliers behind the bracket to compress the clip so you can reuse it), and the rubber mount slides out, then release the plug.  I found it very hard to unplug, from underneath you can compress the tab with a screwdriver or similar, and gently but firmly pull the plug out of the socket (regular pliers may help but don't put too much pressure on the plastic. The lower mount is straightforward, 17mm nut and you can pull the shock out. As I wasn't putting a standard shock back in, I gave the car side wiring socket a generous gob of dialectric grease to keep crap out in the future. Putting the new shock in is straightforward, feed it into at least 1 of the bolt holes at the top and reach around to put a nut on it to hold it up. Then put on the other 2 top nuts loosely and put the shock onto the lower mounting bolt (you may need to lift the hub a little if the new shock is shorter). Tighten the lower nut and 3 upper nuts and you are done. In my case the BC Racing shocks came assembled for the fronts, but the rears needed to re-use the factory strut tops. For that you need spring compressors to take the pressure off the top nut (they are compressed enough when the spring can move between the top and bottom spring seats. Then a 17mm ring spanner to undo the nut while using an 8mm open spanner to stop the shaft turning (or, if you are really lucky you might get it off with a rattle gun).
    • You will now be able to lift the parcel shelf trim enough to get to the shock cover bolts; if you need to full remove the parcel shelf trim for some reason you also remove the escutcheons around the rear seat release and you will have to unplug the high stop light wiring from the boot. Next up is removal of the bracket; 6 nuts and a bolt Good news, you've finally got to the strut top! Remove the dust cover and the 3 shock mount nuts (perhaps leave 1 on lightly for now....) Same on the other side, but easier now you've done it all before
