you can leave them on generally to paint them, and most people do..

But if you want to remove the line you'll just have to get behind the caliper.. there is a nut there.. I think its a 10mm spanner you need.

The other alternative is to unscrew it from up near the wheel arch, as that is where it goes into the metal line and up towards the master cylinder.

Remember removing the caliper will require you to rebleed the lines and fit new fluid.

Yeah thanks i had been trying to undo that nut its 14mm by the way. but i could not get it off after much hard pulling (no bad jokes pls) i got it off and calipers are on there way to being a nice blue.

Just for those guys searching through old posts, like me, the R32 line has a 10mm nut. Using a 10mm spanner I started to strip it.

Try using a shifter instead if you're having trouble. The shifter helped me get a much better grip of the nut so there was no chance of it slipping.

I believe by pipe spanner, he means ring spanner. As in, the other side of the open spanner.

I took off the calipers when I did mine, then I could get a much better finish. It was easier to clean too. Also, there was no chance of overspray.

rebleeding the lines was no big deal as it was time to do it anyway.

What R34GTT-R means by a pipe spanner is basically a ring spanner with a slot cut out of it so it fits past the steel brake pipe. This is the only tool that should ever be used,,, a must for every toolbox.

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same.     • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
