Here are some dodgy phone camera pics of the V35 Skyline that my boss has just imported. It is the first one in the country. He is getting compliance for them now. I don't think they do the Skyline name justice. It kinda looks like a Mercedes from the front and a Subaru WRX or a Maxima from the back - But really it's a Renault at heart - WTF?

i agree whole heartedly i dont think they deserve the skyline name

i think they are ugly and i kinda resent the fact that they axed the RB

sure not a bad car (setup, engine package, etc...) BUT NOT A SKYLINE!!!

but i am glad that the new GTR is still sexy i was ready to go munyuk and shot all the nissan head honchos but it came out ok so you wont hear about me on the news (prob a good thing)

and yes i dont like that carlos goshan (or whatever his name is, the renault guy) cause hes the reason they axed the silvia and skyline (V35 isnt a skyline to me)....emmission laws MY ASS!! he was whinging about cost effectiveness (theres a reason skylines are expensive!!!)

.....*end rant*....ahhh i feel better now

meh...it's not the first one, that I know for sure :D I had a good nose in a V35 coupe a few months back, it was firmly nestled between 5 V35 sedans.

The coupe is 1000 times better looking in the flesh, I agree the sedan is weak!

It has quite a few more things going for it over the 350Z though...like extra seats.

Once more of the turbo kits are developed I'd say they will be VERY popular.

I dont understand the 'it hasnt got an RB its not a skyline' argument. What the devil did the R30s come out with? What about the R31s rebadged here as pintaras :D

Give it up, its a skyline. Car companys are about making money, if they dont, people buy them out (ie renult). So look at it from that point of view, its have a car that makes money, or have no more nissans :)

I think they look ok, but I dont see the merc bit in them?

This one was definately the first I can assure you. It actually entered the country 2 years ago, got resprayed, then sent to NZ for compliance. The engine blew and a new one was put in. They couldn't get compliance in NZ so the guy sold it back to my boss who is now getting compliance for it. Until now it has been sitting in storage.

And yes, he has a coupe and says that it is a totally different animal. I am yet to see one in person but he reckons they look much better.

ive seen a coupe with my own eye's and had a good look at them, they dont look too bad, with a kit and sum wheels it changes the whole look of the car anyway. the one i looked at was up here on the sunshine coast earlier this year at a compliance place i just happened to be near. it was white and the coupe's only have four seats and a thing in the middle in the back for like drinks or arm rest or sumthing like that. it was auto and had all black leather interior. i liked it. it has potential when u look at some of the ones the japs have done up, with kits etc

well those shots are kinda blury there.. so really doesn't show much..

but i always thought it didn't have that much looks wise over the Maxima sold here which I see quite a bit. They look a bit pedestrian in stock 4door guise true.. but no more than an R34 4door!

And they have a very nice interior, and like somebody said, I am sure they are one of the nicest skylines to drive day to day. Its just not a sports sedan for this model.

Thing is it wasn't Grosn, or anything else, it was a matter of saving money and everything else. Why waste hundreds of millions of dollars on investigating new turbo technology when the company is struggling, and even its base models are finding it hard to compete? That could have meant the end of Nissan altogether. There was no choice available to them.

And those constantly bitching, can't say they are the ones in the position to be buying a brand new Nissan anyhow - so you are really not in the picture according to Nissan and its job of well, selling NEW cars.

Best to shelve it for a while, come back to it in a couple of years with a fresh perspective and with new technologies and ideas available to draw upon. And that is exactly what they appear to be doing. So I don't fault them on that.

If Nissan goes and produces some more awesome road tearing sports cars, with say the GTR and things 2-5 years in the future, I think everybody might have a different perspective on the management of Nissan of today.

From what I understand the situation was that they axed the skyline due to expense and the car dealers demanded a skyline badged car so they wacked one on these imposters and it stuck. The new GTR looks cool enough but can't wait for engine details, I'm sure it will be a world killer.

the RB is dead... get over it. Skylines haven't always been AWD and RB powered, nor have they always come with ATTESSA and HICAS and all that other stuff. Evolution's a bitch.

Must say that I am not a big fan of the sedan, but that goes for any series of skyline not just the V35.

However the coupe looks hot and I would love to have one.

I do have a question for those that say it is not a skyline, what makes a skyline? and before you answer please be aware of the history of the skyline and realize that it has had many different types of engines and shapes.

Is it performance? the 2005 V35 coupe is now pushing out 300hp ... 16HP more than the R34GTT which had the previous record of non GTR skylines. Is it the 1/4 mile times? again the V35 coupe has faster 1/4 mile times than any other non GTR Skyline. Is it the engine? like Funky said they haven't always been RB engines ... hell they haven't always been six cylinders either. The Nissan VQ engine has been in the "Wards top 10 car engines" for the last 10 years RB's are a great engine but so is the VQ35. The V35 coupe is also now putting out 366Nm of torque which is higher than any previous non GTR skyline, not only that it is a more linear torque curve as well.

I can remember the same sorts of people who decry the V35 now, also saying the same thing about the R34 when it first came out. Nissan are marketing these to people who can afford them .... not to the boy/toy racer who thinks turbo's are fully sic and a car can't be good without them.

And those constantly bitching, can't say they are the ones in the position to be buying a brand new Nissan anyhow - so you are really not in the picture according to Nissan and its job of well, selling NEW cars.

well said Pred

    • Morning all, I have an RB25DET Neo that's in need of a rebuild. Will need new pistons etc due to detonation damage. Would anyone be able to recommend a shop in Southeast Queensland who I could bring my long motor to for a rebuild? Just want someone who knows RBs and whos built a bunch of them before. TLDR - recommended engine shops for RB rebuild.
    • Gday Thought it was about time I started a build thread! As expected this project has snowballed into a huge financial liability, but unless you’re strong willed and responsible, it’s not a surprise. Background -  My first turbo car was an R32 GTS-4, got my full license and then totalled my Au Falcon a week later, so while trying to sell my RMZ450 dirtbike to buy another car a bloke offered to swap the R32 which at the time I felt like I was ripped off but looking back and seeing prices of those now ($40kish) it was a good deal, I didn’t know enough about these cars to appreciate what I had so sold it before the RB20 blew up. Between here and there, out of 12 cars I’ve owned the note worthy ones are a V8 Lexus SC400 (soarer), a couple of XR6 Turbos and my beloved S15 which I had for about 3 years, picked it up for $12500, repairable write off but she was fine, gun metal grey/pewter and bone stock/unmolested until I got my hands on it. Ended up spending about the value of the car and 280kw, 2 demerit points by the time I got defected and sold it for $14500 (also $40kish in today’s market, rip) Fast forward to the present day, I’m in a much better position financially and daily an MQ Triton (great cars, pipe down Ranger Bois), I cruised marketplace and car sales for a few months looking for another R32, the best deal I could find was an absolute rust bucket half finished project for $12000, until this R33 popped up in Port Macquarie for $18k - unregistered and barely running but decent shape, kept an eye on it for a few weeks and the price steadily dropped, $16k then $15k then $14k, that was the point where I was like shit someone’s gonna snatch this up! It was owned by a young bloke who had big plans but him and his missus just had a baby so smartest move financially for them but big gain for me. So 2 days later I’m towing a car trailer to pick this thing up. Roughly 2 weeks and $3500 later I’m cruising around Newcastle in my beat up R33 all smiles and dose noises! It only needed some basic shit to get it going, coil packs and air flow meter, electrical stuff and all fluids changed, 158k kms and running pretty good, nice smooth engine after oil and coolant flush - when I say coolant I mean it had been filled up with tap water, every gallery and heater element was filled with rust, 8-9 flushes later and still had brown liquid coming out but she’ll be right. The car was painted R34 Bayside Blue at some point but whether it was a cheap job or just not looked after is anyone’s guess, clear coat flaking like sausage roll.  Was rethinking my choices and contemplating life, had it up for sale for $22k - still cheaper than any registered R33 but got little interest, next minute I had an opportunity at work - 6 months overseas for good money, so that was a no brainer, fast forward again and here we are with a 50% finished project. Current Mods - 200ish KW according to butt dyno Was tuned with Apexi PowerFC EBC (old school Greddy Profec)  Stock turbo (more shaft play than a Tinder date gone right) 3inch turbo back Varex muffler  Aftermarket injectors of mystery size, Power FC showed 36% duty cycle at full boost so not behd good size Someone had good intentions but stuck with the stock R33 MAF so we had misfires at 6000rpm due to the MAF hitting 5.2V So far I’ve redone the entire interior with carpet form Car Mats Direct, new Seats and steering wheel from Autotechnica, also sound system by Autobarn (mainly Kicker) Also MCA pro comfort coil overs - Hands down best purchase yet, worlds of improvement over the tired 30yrold shocks Goals - 450kw/600hp on flex tune New paint job - Midnight Purple 2 Engine is at the shop getting rebuilt with forged rods a pistons, new valves and springs, ATI Harmonic balancer, Aeroflow 7.5L sump, rear head drain and oil restrictors as per oil control thread* and cam covers modded for larger breathers, other stuff I can’t recall of the top of my head Parts purchased and to be installed once the engine is done -  Engine loom from Wiring Specialties including these options: Haltech Nexus S3 R35 Coil pack conversion  PRP Dual Trigger kit Fan controller  Other Parts -  262 Kelford Cams Turbo - Hypergear ATR43SS3-ProS with T51R mod (whistly boi) 6 boost manifold (high mount) 50mm Turbosmart Pro gate (plumbed back for legal reasons) HKS Super Turbo Exhaust with High Flow Cat Custom 3.5inch dump and front pipe 1500cc Bosch injectors  Fuel Pump walbro 525 Haltech MAP and IAT sensors Haltech Flex Sensor Fenix Radiator with dual thermo fans LS1 Alternator Kit Oil Filter Relocation from EFI solutions and Cooling pro oil cooler Many other things sitting in my garage waiting for that engine to come back. Progress pics to follow -
    • Losses have to be less with DC coupling. Provided the battery inverter has decent MPP tracking ability - which really shouldn't be a problem. It's not 2005 any more.
    • Hi, Will the R33 GTR rear brake backing plates fit a GTST? I'm struggling to find GTST ones but can find new GTR ones.   Thanks.
    • I also got the same floor mats for a bit of extra bazzaz haha
