Hey all, just want some positive feedback. I have bought myself a R32, and i know ppl here don't like the 32's for some apparent reason. (maybe coz i own one  )but it was all that i can afford being a poor ass uni student....

Anyways i bought myself a type M and i want to know the differences between other R32s. My mate also has a type M but he has a ceramic ball bearing turbo that is different from mine. Ive looked at the turbo and it looks stock, on the side of his car it says "Ceramic Ball Bearing Turbo" He also thinks that he might have cams!!

Someone please give me some info or link me to a site...

Cheers peeps

I'm not sure but I don't think there was any difference engine wise between a normal GTS-t and a Type M. I do know that Type Ms have extra features like an active front spoiler and 4 pot brakes on the front and a lot more that I cant remember off the top of my head.

And not every hates R32s

"Type M" is what they call a package bundle for the car. It varied from year to year and dealer to dealer what you got as part of the "Type M" package. Usually it included shit like climate control, upgraded brakes, alloy wheels of some sort and a factory bodykit and spoiler.

All models of Skylines had these packages...

N/A's got Type S

GTSt's got Type M

4 doors got Type X and Type J

All the components you get in a Type M can be gotten as optional parts. Its was just cheaper to choose a package. Which is why sometimes you'll see a "Type M" bodykit on a non Type M car etc. So yeah, Type M's aren't a different car, they're the same car with a bunch of options as standard.

All R32 GTSt's came with the same type of turbo and cams, there were no optional upgrades which were part of the Type M package. Their appearance might have varied between Series 1 and Series 2 R32's though.

some of the differences between series 1 and 2 R32s

- on the fender, the GT badge is silver and smaller on the S1 and a larger red/white one on the S2 (like the R33 badge)

- on the fender also, S2 have a small oval indicator where the S1 does not

- also i believe S2 came with side intrusion bars already installed where the S1 gets them welded in when u get ur car complied here is aussie

the series 1 R32 was basically around for 1989-1990 i think, then came the series 2

hope this clarifies some things

Different size yes, but not different colours, the colourings were retained between the series. Colour denomination differs from source to source, some think that the blue/white was used for passenger cars, and the red/white used for sports car. Some think that the blue/white was for N/A and the red/white was for turbo. Mine had gold badges because it was a limited edition.

Nope, none of em had indicator repeaters on the fender. Almost all S2's in Australia are all old CPA scheme cars, which required the guard to be cut and an indicator to be inserted, as you couldn't see an amber indicator from all angles of view of the car. This isn't a requirement of 15 year old compliance, which is why most S1's you'll see in australia of the last couple of years don't have em.

S1 was upto August 1991, and S2 was from then on.

Didn't 32 type M's also come with a viscous lsd, as opposed to a mechanical one?

Don't think think so, I believe all turbo R32s came out with viscous LSDs.

I think you might be confused with a few R33 Type Ms which got the GTR "Active LSD"??

what is an "active front bar"

do 33 Type M's have these?

Not sure if I called it the right name but I have switch in my R32 with active something lol

But no the R33 does not have this, it's basically just a lip underneath the front bar that can come out to help with aerodynamics at high speeds or something.

Didn't nismo release a limited run of GTSt?

Nismo released a limited run of R32 GTR's in March 1990. They came decked out in all sorts of Nismo goodies.

prosman, so yours is just plain silver? Most GTSt's I've seen have silver badges with red and white paint in just the GT bits.

Thansk Shan,

Also, not all Type-Ms have all the options, my Type-M (checked in FAST) doesnt have the aero kit, but it has the 4pot brakes, upgrade interior, climate control, rear window wiper (was this an option?).

Almost every r32 i have seen has red and white GT badges. Maybe series 1 had the silver ones, ive never really seen many 89 imports...

But Series 2 gtst definately had red and white GT badges.

Non-turbo had blue and white, along with the turbo gts4...

    • Pressure when IDLING, is meant to be 51PSi... So that amperage value needs to go up a fair chunk... I'd personally be factoring for more like 12amp at least on those runs, and at that point you need to hope the already there wiring doesn't drop you a volt or two, as that's a lot of fuel pressure flow drop off from 13.5 to 12V! Taking idle pressure of 51psi, means the pump will be drawing a MINIMUM of 9amps all the time based on your reading of the graph (3bar base, then allowing an extra 0.5bar for boost = roughly 51psi)
    • Hi all,  I am in the market for an R200 longnose diff out of a Z31 300ZX, or S12 RSX, DR30 skyline, or similar, in a 3.9 ratio.  Preferably a late model one with the M12 crownwheel bolts.  The only easy to find advert for one of these was my ad back in 2007 when I sold it on this forum.  I sold the diff as I had sold the car it goes to, but as it turns out, after 18 years I got the car back late last year, so now I'm looking for the diff !  If anyone knows where to find a longnose R200 LSD with the M12 crownwheel bolts, drop me a line at [email protected] - Bonus paid if soomeone comes up with the original diff (stranger things have happened !).  Cheers   Ben D
    • Hi everyone, I used to post here a bit from 2004-2013, when I owned various Nissans, in particular my S12 RSX gazelle, which was sold in 2007.  As luck would have it, after an 18 year hiatus, the car found its way back to me last year, and over the past 11 months I have had the pleasure of restoring it with my kids.  One thing that I am after in particular is a 3.9 ratio R200 LSD for it.  I actually sold the one out of the car here back in 2007 , and it would be incredible if I could track down who I sold it to, so I can see how they have progressed over the years (and to be honest, to see whether I can get the diff back !).  Anyways, hi all and let me know "where are the R200 Longnose diffs all at these days ?  Cheers Ben D
    • Arms will be the same as the G35 or 350Z, but as above, there was a change in the lower control arm where it connects to the ball joint.  That said, you can remove the ball joint cone from your old ball joints and fit them to the new ball joints.  To be honest, I didn't think the ball joints themselves were different. The main ball joint is a bit awkward to replace, you really need to remove the steering knuckle to press out the old one.  Some people have used tools to remove it in place, but it just seemed too hard to get to. If you are going to press out/in that ball joint, then you may as well just replace the bushings in the LCA and the compression rod.  You can buy the compression rod bushing from Nissan, but the LCA bushes, you will need to go aftermarket. Much cheaper than buying the whole arm.
    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
